As you fight your way through the world, your character will grow based on how you play. But there’s more to growth than just how you fight, work your way through the magic and skills available to truly bring your character to the next level.

Weapons are fun and all but through the skill tree you can improve your abilities with combat skills or find yourself a Legendary item with their own special abilities and even more, you can upgrade their skills!
If hunting for weapons in the dungeons isn’t for you then we have good news! You can create your own weapons with ingredients found on your adventures, or by honing the weapons you’ve collected. You can also make potions to prepare deep dungeon crawling and disassemble items you found during your adventures to get ingredients and enhance your crafted weapons or potions with them.

TL;DR Buy on sale, it's fun. Needs some refining though. A simple yet very fun dungeon crawler of sorts. Want to be a wizard? Entirely possible. A spellsword? sure. Perhaps you want to embrace your inner caveman and unga-bunga your enemies with big clubs. Also possible. What I love about this game is it's a neat character builder. The combat is a lot of fun. It's got a story (I wouldn't say it's very refined) and it's got bosses that will put you in your place. I have mostly messed around with the magic system so I can't speak to the other builds, but being a mage is really neat. Wands help eliminate the need for certain gestures for spell casting, but the the gestures themselves even are kind of cool. I am enamored with this game, and have played it before its 1.0 release. I have to say it's nice to see an early access game go full release and from what I can tell they did in fact implement most if not all of the content they promised in their teasers. Some of the less cool points. There's no real voice acting which isn't really a requirement I guess? There's still some refining needed in the text for quests and some dialogue. Some skills/spells could use some more explanation. The character's can only be reset after you beat the game, and with some souls like bosses it isn't a very forgiving system. What's more, you can only reset secondary attributes and skill points, not primary stats. The crafting system is really cool and all, but I don't personally care for the randomness of the whetstones. If i spend quite a bit of time refining crafting components on the alchemy cauldron, I would get kind of annoyed and have encountered that the 'unique' whetstones will quite often make rare equipment rather than unique which is already a pain with the random stats given by items to begin with so it's kind of a two fold kick in the nuts. I legitimately have NEVER gotten a single *reduce cost of lightning magic by x%* in crafting once. I have made at least 15 or so wands. I am a lightning mage. This is kind of ridiculous. Overall I'd give a 6 or 7 out of 10. I'd love to give higher but my above (and now below) points still stand and I refuse to knobgobble. Edit: I have started challenge mode and I get that it's 'challenge' mode but just adding a lot more health and damage to creatures should not be the only solution, especially if they come in the same number of creatures to fight. Then it becomes less challenge or more tedious. being able to unlock more skillpoints is neat but basically having to hoard all of your quest reward points is pretty rough especially when you can only get 12 more, the cost increases per and that it's not enough to master a new tree say in magic? Seems almost a pointless exercise. I loved NG+ on dark souls, but at least there was some moderation in the difficulty hiking. By the point you're ready for ng+ on the average run, you're capable of killing enemies in a couple of hits on average. The challenge mode is taking several casts of my most powerful ability with it's stacking penetration buffs. It's... tiring to the point of boredom. I saw the new game, thought it would be fun. Was bored out of it. Hopefully they change this. P.E. Changed my overall rating to a lower score based on the above edit and the negative parts of my review, and the price tag which since early access I had not seen. It's a fun game, it's not worth 55 dollars. It may be when they finish polishing it, but it's a little rough for that price.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Let’s start with the bad, because there’s a lot of it. The game struggles with technical and design issues. Menus are buggy, enemies dodge at absurd speeds, and grappling ledges is inconsistent and frustrating. The lack of armor and magic creation is especially disappointing, and the game does a poor job explaining its systems. Stats, in particular, are barely explained, which makes experimenting with builds more confusing than it needs to be. Now the good. Combat is genuinely satisfying once it works. Weapon and bow crafting feels great, and the bosses are challenging without feeling unfair. The skill tree is large and flexible enough to support a wide range of builds. I’m currently running a fists-only build, and surprisingly, it’s one of the most fun ways to play. Punching your way through encounters feels impactful and rewarding. Overall, Legendary Tales has a strong foundation but clearly needs more polish. At its current state, the $40 price tag feels too high for what’s being offered. With more refinement and clearer systems, it could be something special, but right now it’s a hard sell at full price.
After about a decent amount of time playing I can say this for certain. Legendary Tales is NOT worth 55 dollars and is more likely worth 35 to 40 to be generous. Allow me to explain my reasoning. PROS It definitely has a dark souls vibe mixed in with Diablo that has a decent loot system where you will mostly get commons, magicals sometimes rares and perhaps uniques. If you grind hard enough and kill enough mobs then you will see the legendary weapons from time to time which I do appreciate. Opening chests and climbing ropes feel satisfying and gives off that Indiana Jones feeling of finding something spectacular. Atmosphere and soundtrack is good and the game is EXTREMELY dark which sets it's tone very well and isn't a happy fun time land but rather everything is depressing and mellow which compliments the art direction the game is going for. Crafting is spectacular and I could live off my fantasy of being a blacksmith making subpar to superior weapons. There's just something about pounding an ingot of metal against an anvil with it's "CLANK!" sound effect that triggers my monkey brain to send several waves of euphoria coursing through my body and seeing the finish product is just intoxicating. Even crafting potions are a sight to behold and it all works flawlessly since I've never had a problem with alchemy. Alright. Time for CONS which is mostly about combat. Combat. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dude. Combat is extremely wonky and nothing like blade and sorcery. While fighting monsters, I will tell you this right now that trying to STAB something will make the game automatically assume you are slashing because yeah, why not? whenever I make a stabbing motion like a psychopath that escaped from a mental health institute, the game just says "Oh, you're slashing right? there you go." which is absolutely INFURIATING when I want to do piercing damage the moment i'm in a enclosed space. Combat is something the developer should REALLY improve on before even thinking about adding anything else into the game because there's nothing worse in a game when the combat is just ass and will only work once in a blue moon, or if you take it out for dinner at a 5 star Michelin restaurant and let it rail you the moment you get into a hotel. The monsters behaviors have some slight intelligence especially goblins. Whenever you want to run after those little bastards that kept cutting your knees and ankles they just run off and alert their buddies to gank you like a gang initiation which seems like a reasonable action for them. However, there are some moments where skeletons will just get all up in your face trying to french kiss you. I get it, they're literally bones with no brain but there's no reason for them to act like a damn fighter from the vr game Thrill of the fight, a boxing game where the opponent literally wants to go inside you so you can't even hit them properly unless you have a literal boxing ring for space which is a damn luxury for most people. I'm not sure if it's skill issue but there are times where I will try to block or parry and the enemies weapons will still hit me every time even though I know for a fact that my stance and movement was on point. Sure, I'm not a god sweat in this game that could easily wash all the enemies in the game with the starting weapon but my god. Sometimes, I wonder if Thanos snapped his fingers to erase the weapon from my hands for a second whenever I get hit when for sure I would have blocked that attack. Leveling and progression. The level scaling and difficulty of the monsters is just downright bad. When you start out and explore the starting area, it seems like a cakewalk with most of the enemies having predictable movements so you can parry or block and cut them down. The problem is that the first "Mini boss" was a skeleton gladiator with two axes underneath a tree with bodies around him and my god dude. It felt like I was a piglet going against Hulk Hogan who has a steel chair and brass knuckles with his EXTREMELY high HP and damage output along with his complex patterns of attack and it didn't help that he was part of the first series of quest you get from the NPC's. After having my ass carried by two other people, I went into the first dungeon and found out that the final boss was quite easy since it was a normal skeleton with slightly higher HP. Whoever decided to put the Gladiator in the starting area instead of the dungeon is a straight up LUNATIC and I wouldn't be surprised if people refunded the game because of the spike in difficulty for no apparent reason. If they make an update, I hope they swap the skeleton boss in the first dungeon with the skeleton gladiator since it would be more appropriate. When you Level and use points to spend on skills and traits USE THEM WISELY and don't be a dumb ass like me because you wont get that ♥♥♥♥ back unless it's stat points. There are moments where I chose some traits and passives thinking they will increase my damage and survivability but it's extremely thin and almost irrelevant which makes being a warrior and using two handed weapons feel like you're the most useless being in the entire world when a mage can obliterate anything with one spell. At least give the warrior class a passive of an extra heavy attack for every 10 or 15 str you have just to balance things out a bit and make it seem like you're contributing because I've never felt more useless in my life as a warrior. I might as well make a new damn character and just RP as Legolas since I've done more with a bow and arrow as a warrior even though I'm supposed to be stupid and clunky but hit really hard and take really hard hits. For now, I'll leave this negative review up until the developers to iron out the combat and polish the game more. This game has a large amount of potential and if they do polish this game further down the road, then this negative review will be deleted and I will say it is actually worth 55$. For now, let's just wait and see what they will plan on for the future.
literally ruined the game on release, then tripled the price for a worse version that's completely different from what it used to be
This game was a basic but fun dungeon crawler in early access, but on release it barely had any additional features or polish, and in many ways was actually a downgrade. But more than doubling the price? That's sad. For 20 bucks when I got it, totally worth it, but I can't condone the price hike, especially not when the devs have seemingly abandoned the game and there are better options out there now.
Near AAA pricing for an indie game. Bought it on sale with high hopes, off rip it decided to put my hands in the wrong position/wrong angle and after recalibrating multiple times and restarting the game, checking my play area and the nine it wouldnt work, went on the official discord and got ignored, refunded without a second thought, imagine wanting AAA prices for a game that has gamebreaking bugs/issues the moment you start.
the game is ok, 71.99 dollars for a vr game is absolutely outrageous cant reccomend it until price goes down
Decent Game but 55 dollars is completely insane. Do not buy this game unless its on sale for 10$ or less.
Early Access game was more fun... I'd much rather have that. Plus it costed way less than what we have now.
Please bring back procedurally generated dungeons with the newer npcs. Idk why but the chaos in the veeeeeery early stages was fun and interesting. *Reviewed* Game is still amongst the gems of VR games in my library. Definitely cop if on sale and the DLC.
