Game is kind of fun, until it isn't. You pretty much have to rely on luck to advance, it gets far too difficult at low levels and there isn't any incentive to progress at all.

One of the first games I ever played on Steam when I was a kid. Very good fun. It was extremely innovative for the time. I remember just barely having a laptop that could run this back in the day haha.
Something of a surreal, subdued fever dream among roguelikes. Various aesthetic themes and a spectrum of vibrant colours are all filtered through the crunchy pixel-art 2.5D art style, into something surprisingly cohesive & visually clear. The disparate soundtrack of fairly minimalistic synths and guitars with jangling percussion all reinforces this, whilst setting an effective tone and a nice sense of atmosphere. Unfortunately, I just didn't find Legend of Dungeon particularly fun to play. The combat is kinda unpleasant, feeling as though it's fighting against you with sluggish controls and poor hitboxes (often exacerbated by the huge waves of enemies it can throw at you). And that's just the "beat'em'up" aspect - there are ranged weapons and spells, but they too suffer from poor hitboxes, or otherwise feel impotent. Generally, the item management and floor navigation both also felt more painful than they needed to be. Once the novelty of the game's vibe & style began to wear off, I just started to lose motivation as I struggled to find any sense of reward in continuing. Perhaps if you're a roguelike fanatic, and these kinds of games (with their sense of discovery & mastery) get their hooks into you, then maybe you'd find something to enjoy here. Or perhaps the VR experience is worth checking out for something unique. Legend of Dungeon definitely isn't a bad game, but personally? I just wouldn't enthusiastically recommend it. ★★★✰✰
Got the Treasure!
Classical from 2013. I would like to play this game on the nintendo switch.
Great couch co-op dungeon crawler. Above this review is a video featuring some people partying that captures very little of my experience with Legend of Dungeon. The gameplay trailer, on the other hand, is very accurate. You (and perhaps some friends) wake up in a tavern and go into the door that leads to a randomized dungeon. There, you will encounter procedural generation that offers up the most absurd configurations of enemies, items, and rooms. It's difficult. The 2D sprites in a 3D room can lead to occasional frustration when lining up an attack or going after an item. There's not a lot of explanation, so going in blind is fun but will very much extend your playtime through trial-and-error deaths. That being said, it's a competent dungeon crawler I have not beaten. The slow pace adds tension and strategy, the items are humorous and useful, there is a real skill cap, and I've definitely sucked more $10 worth of fun out of it.
It's fun but frustrating. I love the retro graphics and dungeon crawling but scrolling through your inventory one item at a time is clunky and the randomization can absolutely end your run prematurely. There's definitely better rogulites but I can't say I don't enjoy it and I could see myself easily playing this for hours in coop. The fact it's so simple and easy to pick up is also a plus in my opinion
This game looks so cool in VR and it's such a fun chill game, as a Quest 3 user this game would be excellent on the meta store especially in AR mixed reality.
combat is really lacking, balancing is really unfair. Very luck dependent on getting something that can carry you through the game.
