This is a kinetic novel: no choices (except maybe one which is inconsequential) or gameplay so be aware of that if you're curious. The worldbuilding is pretty interesting. I can't recommend it overall because this is clearly a (very) small part in a larger overarching story, and that story will probably never be close to being finished. This came out 12 years ago and since then we've only seen one sequel and side story. As a standalone story it's fine, but nothing special.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fault – Milestone One is a thoughtful, well-crafted visual novel that stands out for its world-building and character-driven storytelling. The story follows Princess Selphine and her bodyguard Ritona as they navigate a mysterious new land after a sudden magical catastrophe, gradually uncovering the political and emotional threads that tie their world together. The game’s presentation is also one of its biggest strengths. The backgrounds are beautifully drawn, the character art is expressive, and the soundtrack fits perfectly with the tone of each scene. The narrative is grounded in its fantasy setting, exploring themes of responsibility, survival, and perspective without relying on excessive melodrama. There’s also an impressive level of attention to the world’s lore, which gives the story a sense of scale beyond its immediate plot. That said, the game isn’t without flaws. The pacing can feel slow in parts, particularly during exposition-heavy scenes that lean more toward world-building than plot progression. Some players may find the tone shifts — from lighthearted banter to serious emotional beats — a bit uneven. It also ends on a clear setup for the next chapter, which can leave the experience feeling incomplete on its own. Despite these drawbacks, this game is still a strong recommendation for visual novel fans who appreciate well-written dialogue, engaging characters, and a rich fantasy setting. It’s not a fast-paced experience, but it rewards patience with genuine emotional moments and a sense of depth that lingers long after the credits roll.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! It's an episodic project each one 6h long. While the story seems interesting the dev pretty much abandoned it altogether. They're focused now on making side stories or prologues while not having finished the main story. And it's been over 12 years now. And even now, as of this moment I'm writing they stil claim on their site to be releasing new episode every 6 months or so. Moreover, during making the next episode of prologue, they decided to scrap it just 2 weeks before the promised date of release, and remake it in an entirely different genre - 3d action game, most likely to string any remaining patron along. Honestly it breaks my heart because the art and the story are so intriguing and lovable. I didn't even miss the voice acting. Alas it all went belly up. All in all - my honest advice - don't give the devs any money. They clearly don't seem to intend to finish their project.

9/10
A cozy novel set under the fantasy setting, with hints at magic and the existence of mana. There isn't enough room for much of character developments due to its length and the amount of appearing characters, but most of them are set in stone as they're just well for the reader to relate to at times and enjoy reading about. From what I've gathered in those three hours of reading as of late, it's a usual storytelling, from time to time from Ritona's perspective. The music is fairly well chosen. I can't however claim to have felt all that immersed, but on the other hand I did enjoy reading it lately about the same as I've enjoyed it during my first introduction to fault about five years ago. The notes fit, offering a neat and relaxing yet sometimes challenging themes for the reader to listen to. It does fit the plot. And as I've just mentioned the plot, it is as simple as it sounds. Because I wouldn't wish to reveal spoilers, reading what's in the descriptions shall present a decent idea for what's going on during this novel. I've thought of it as a life changing adventure for the couple of protagonists. Most of the novel does revolve around the exploration of the unknown, and I haven't felt particularly emotional during the whole time, except at the end where it hits fairly hard, yet for very simple stuff. I guess, it means that my opinion didn't change after all those years. I'd still recommend this novel to pretty much everyone, who's looking for a novel set under the fantasy theme, although the length is one of its main weaknesses. - For those who noticed, I've also found myself taken aback by how short this review of mine came out, but that's simply because there's not much to say.. Or maybe rather, I don't know how to express it well enough without revealing the spoilers. Whoops. Oh, well, this should do it anyway. Cheers, & Happy reading!
