Legacy of Vane is an addictve, well designed, challenging, and fun rpg. Graphics are terrific, story fantastic, game play top-notch, with so many innovative features such as jewels (which any character can equip which adds various powerful magic and powerups), and each character has a special ability which is used and needed throughout the game. There is a wide variety of monsters, battles are quick, with a good number of towns, castles, caves, etc. Most weapons/armor/rings give additional skills. And the best of all is a developer(Landy) who is super quick to answer questions and give immediate help (including adding fixes and updates). This is a highly recommended and enjoyable rpg as Landy has once again produced a must play rpg.
If you like this type of rpg then better get this game. Music- always fit the situation, haunting, beautiful, etc. Story- interesting and well thought out. with a great ending and room for a sequel. Dialogue- good but could have been wittier. Options- I love options and here are more than usual. Battles can be real time or turn based. Customization of character- Yes to some extent and many images to choose from. Price- Developer is practically giving it away. Certainly worth much more than being asked. As you might surmise: I completely enjoyed this game and recommend it.
I think if u are a Classic JRPG fan you would love this one! it brings back those times when I played NES/SNES JRPGs, Interesting concept to the story, great replayability with multiple classes, Witty dialogues and funny interactions, new mechanics that intrigued me, the old click every corner hidden secrets, and optional areas & bosses. Story: The story itself started out as a vengeful legacy related to demon and corrupted world, but
somehow the goddess have been more apparent in the story than the demon
. There are a lot of questions unanswered even after finishing the game, I believe this was meant to be a two-part series and it has potential to be great. System & Mechanics: I like the Simplicity of the Menu and UI it's very clean and also informational at the same time, Controls are fine on a keyboard and mouse. Battle system is very engaging although I wish it could be faster... like a lot faster. There are some bugs present, so make multiple saves, and save a lot. Music: Honestly if u buy this game just for the music, It would be worth it. Although it's best to enjoy while playing. Difficulty: I'd say this is easy to medium. if u are unfamiliar with Classic JRPG you might think this game is hard, but learn the system, grind for a bit. and take time to discover some secrets, and you will be A ok. The optional mini bosses and bosses are quite fun. especially
Redrum
Overall I enjoy finishing this game and all of it's content, I can see the Dev passion while making this game, and I hope to see more of this series. For the dev:
Frankly the thing that bothers me the most while playing this is the 9 max item in the inventory, do you know how much I went back and forth dungeons to farm for gems, whyyyyy..........
Sooo, after roughly 15 hours of gameplay (some of it spent Idling around and listening to the nice music, especially in the vale of 4 seasons, as I call it) I now have finished this superb little gem of a game. I have been pleasantly surprised to see a new game from this developer, as I had a blast playing his other games before. I always like me a story with some demons involved ^^ I'm very fond of the character creation and the special abilities of each character. Also there are lots of monster abilities to learn and the equipment is neat, especially the stuff you get from the demons on that "special" island (I beat the first two after some grinding, but number three always swiped the floor with me, so I called it quits and went to beat up that final boss instead ^^ ). The difficulty is medium, I'd say, the game is absolutely beatable without chewing up your keyboard :D Thankfully no random encounters, what you see is what you get. But be aware, those little buggers follow you, if they once see you and they are fast. Grinding is optional, but I highly recommend it, if you want to have some really good stuff. Enemies are conveniently respawning in all areas so just go smash'em up :D In the end my characters were all about level 47 to 50. There are some secret areas in the game and I think I missed one or two (will have to replay some time later obviously, because I want to know all the secrets). Story screams for a sequel and I would really like to see more of this world. Bravo Landy, this game's a good one again ;) I highly recommend it, give it a try folks =^.^=
just beat the game was just as fun as the other games devolped by these people. hope the sequel doesnt take long to come out ended on a good cliffhanger
Great game with alot of replayability cause of strategies and your main character class can be different each time.
Given up after almost 7 hours. This is just not good. There is no direction given, balancing is meh at best. But let me tell you one thing: If you're looking for an amazing soundtrack, step no further, because this is the only great thing about this game. Everything else is more bad than average.
Pros: *Character Creation (neat idea, maybe repeatability value?) *No Random Encounter (enemy will chase you if notice) *Full Controller Support (just love playing with my Xbox controller) Cons: *Character Creation (it doesn't add much to the story, felt sort of meaningless) *Game-play was short and bare-bone (finished in 8 hours and no side-quest) *Limited weapon/armory (there's not much to buy or equip) *The story has an awful cliffhanger ending I bought this half-price ($2.50) and it's worth that much at best. It was a nice short game but it felt half-baked. Wish there were a sequel...
Great Game
Just finished playing the game and I have to say it was very very enjoyable. Even at full price it was a bargain. The game gave me a bit of the old Lufia games vibe with the IP system. The story itself while a cliffhanger does have a good enough ending to make it worth the play through. Though I do hope to see an actual conclusion for the story eventually. The twist at the end was great and look forward to seeing an eventual sequel. The music was well suited at all times and the opening music is just perfection.
