Game is very ahead of its time but you need to patch it in order to get it running

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Ein Kultspiel von 1999, das heute leider kaum noch spielbar ist Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver erschien 1999 und wurde damals von Kritikern und Fans gleichermaßen gelobt. Es gilt als eines der herausragenden Action-Adventure-Spiele seiner Zeit, besonders durch seine düstere Atmosphäre, die komplexe Story und das innovative Gameplay, das zwischen Vampir- und Geistformen wechselte. Leider ist das Spiel im Laufe der Jahrzehnte immer mehr in Vergessenheit geraten. Technisch gesehen ist Soul Reaver auf modernen Systemen problematisch: Ab Windows 7 und neueren Versionen läuft das Spiel meist nicht mehr stabil oder lässt sich gar nicht erst starten. Offizielle Unterstützung oder ein Remaster gibt es bisher nicht, was viele Fans enttäuscht. Aus heutiger Sicht ist es daher schwierig, das Spiel uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen, da die technische Barriere einfach zu groß ist. Dennoch bleibt die Geschichte um Raziel und das mystische Kain-Universum eine Perle, die unbedingt einen modernen Re-Release verdient hätte. Ich hoffe sehr, dass Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver eines Tages eine liebevolle Neuauflage bekommt, damit neue Spieler und Fans die epische Story und das Gameplay wieder erleben können.

The Silenced Cathedral is one of the most frustrating and badly designed levels in gaming history, featuring never-ending block puzzles in rooms with awkward camera angles that obscure the player character and enemies making combat even more annoying, only 2 warp gates - one outside the cathedral and one at the end - so restarting at any point before the end means a huge trek back to where you were, the worst music in the game and the most annoying enemies in the game. Needs a remake, not a remaster that fixes nothing and adds even more problems of its own. 4/10

Any game I have to take time to mod to death just to play is a negative for me. It does not work without outside help. period. Sad, because I know this game from the psx era and loved it. If you know how to install the mods to fix it or alter whatever else you have to, it's likely the same great experience from back in the day, but these people neglect their IP and let it become dysfunctional trash.
