Lazy Galaxy

Time Played:
12.2 Hours
Last Played:
15th of January, 2026

With no Terraria 1.4.5 Release date announced yet, and me still deep into Garden Galaxy's last achievements, I thought humour would be had in playing 2 idle-adjacent games with “Galaxy” in their name. Of note is that this was the 11th game played while waiting for the update, I was simply able to try Miniland Adventure in-between this, and the 13th volume of that period.
Yay:
+ Upgrades are unlocked via in-game achievements, adding a nice bit of progression. + Surrealist absurdity story featuring a race of Octopus-like creatures conquering the stars, but lacking motivation to do so. + Progress seems to come quickly. + Ever-satisfying to me “number goes up” incremental gameplay. + The space battle parts reminded me of Blasteroids, which I've played at a retro arcade. + The health capsules reminded me of Bosconian, which I played on one of those cheapo “Plug 'n' Play consoles in the early '00s. + Like Leaf Blower Revolution, the Stean achievements are very easy, and time-respecting. + Unlimited Battles Mode
Meh:
~ I didn't think the building art fit the rest of the game's aesthetics. ~ No auto-clicker is given before you get all achievements. ~ On that topic, most of those are either bugged, or the description is inaccurate. I unlocked almost everything before I got to their listed unlock conditions.
Nay:
- Resource Gain/Game Alterations from prestiging/going to the next star system were imperceptible at-first, and you only gain 2 things when doing so for the time it takes to get most of the achievements, as opposed to the myriad in other games. - This makes things more than a bit repetitive... - You also don't get to keep 85% of what you built up. - Very little is present to do other than wait, and click asteroids/the ship you want when you move to a new star system, making the game feel like it's mostly waiting, which is quite the flaw when it's described as a more active incremental game. - Very limited RTS elements, and even then, those are optional in-favour of watching your ships blast out and do everything for you. - Sometimes, when a building is above another, you need to go straight up the middle on the lower building's menu to get it to stay. - I needed to restart to have the “Weird Patterns” achievement work.

Verdict:
While I do find the completely-accidental synchronicity of the 11th “Waiting for Terraria 1.4.5” game having been played mostly to its achievement-entirety on the 11th of the month, while including 2 of those based around the number 11, that was as much enjoyment as I got out of this one. To me, Lazy Galaxy is a game that only half-commits to both styles it's trying to adhere to, having very limited, optional RTS elements, and a deeply-flawed, poorly-implemented idle side of things. It's not one of the worst things I've ever played, but I found it so unremarkable in literally every aspect, that I cannot recommend it.
Placed in:
4: Mundanely-Middling.
Lazy Galaxy is an idle clicker space game. This game is quite unique, it's a mix of a ton of genres. It's a space combat game, with base building, with RTS combat, it's a clicker and an idle game as well! Now, I wasn't particularly a fan of this game, but it definitely has potential. I'm sure that the second game in the series if better, but this one was fun for a few hours before it came repetitive. The graphics are okay, the music is good but there are only 2 or 3 tracks, there isn't really a story but there's some funny dialogues. I mean, it's an alright idle game. The combat is pretty boring however and controlling your ships has very little impact. Pausing to issue commands is annoying, using skills 1 by 1 when you have 8 ships is annoying and the fact that the ships are vastly unbalanced is also not fun. What I liked was the constant feeling of progression, crafting better recipes, looting crates, gathering in-game achievements (there's a ton more in-game), conquering galaxies, collecting candies... it feels great! But after unlocking the generals, (after 10 hours of gameplay, playing very slowly and not rushing at all,) I do believe that was the last piece of content to unlock (correct me if I'm wrong.) At a $5 price point, this is a fair price for the included content, and if I do get Lazy Galaxy 2 for cheap, I will definitely try it out! Overall, an OK game, a little repetitive and the combat isn't the best, but it satisfies an idle game crave in a pinch.

A fun rogue-like that's simple to play and doesn't take too much of your time. It does get repetitive but you can also leave it alone and it will continue to harvest resources for you when you're offline so the grindy stuff doesn't have to be quite so bad. The space combat is quite simplistic and as another reviewer pointed out, the tactical stuff available for you to use during the real-time battle segments is basically wasted since you can't really use them productively. At 16 hours I hadn't gotten to the end, nor did I have any desire to, but I don't regret playing either. It was an easy one to knock off the backlog.
Nice artstyle
