Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.13/day in the week to Jul 21 → 6/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
Last Train Home
”The Great War is over. All we want is to return home, to the new republic born in the heart of Europe...” I've just completed my first play through and its time to review. This game focuses on a largely untouched piece of history in gaming and media. I will admit my knowledge of WWI and the proceeding fallout is weak compared to my knowledge of WWII. I had never actually heard of this fascinating piece of history which happened during the final parts of WWI during the Russian civil war between 1918-1920 which became known as the Revolt of the Czechoslovak Legion. I am sure there are some creative liberties in the retelling but overall I think it shines a fantastic light on a piece of history that would be fairly unknown outside of the countries that were players in it. There are two main modes of game play, the train management and the battles. During train management you promote, assign roles, craft items, upgrade and repair the train. Whilst stopping at the many Points of interest to gather food, fuel and supplies and trading with the locals. You have to make sure you have enough fuel, food and heat to get through Siberia. During the combat missions you manage your squad to complete Main missions and side missions. Each class of unit has their own strengths and you can even multi class units. Building a troop that has the best of both worlds. For example a grenadier that also is trained in medical abilities. Combat is fun and can be very unforgiving if you play more honestly. Save scumming and the excessive use of Snipers can make the game easier for sure. The snipers are fantastic but can trivialise certain battles once they are maxed out and you take like four into battle. I think this is a choice as a player you must make but then don't complain about it. The game has so much content from dealing with troop morale which can be affected from living conditions to events and even the results of battles. To dealing with minor injuries and sickness, to full blown major illnesses and combat injuries that may see that solider be permanently injured and unable to go into battle again. There are a huge amount of Legionaries all with their own unique attitudes, morality and skill set. I do get some vibes from other games in this title, which I think is fantastic. Games I get vibes from are. X-Com - (Squad based, Perma Death, Tactical RTS, Upgrading of equipment) Frostpunk - (Foraging, Sending out squads, The weather being an enemy) This War Of Mine - (Hard Decisions, Rationing, Character Driven, Sickness & Injury) Brothers in arms (Tactical Pause and planning your moves) Commandos (Real time stealth with harsh consequences) Company Of Heroes (Real time Strategy, upgrading of troops) All of this while being flanked by a great narrative which can be voiced in English or the more Authentic which utilizes authentic Czech and Russian voice over. Great cutscenes that show the train and troops in action. Ashbourne games have made a fantastic game here and I really am looking forward to seeing what they do next. The game has some good elements but the overall gameplay is more stressful than fun.
A real-time tactics game set around a traveling train during wartime, combining squad-based combat missions with a strategic train management layer. The tactical missions are excellent, with strong unit design, meaningful stealth options, and satisfying execution of combat encounters. However, the train management and survival systems are comparatively shallow and often feel more like a pacing interruption than an engaging strategic layer. While the campaign structure is generally solid, the pacing between missions can feel slightly slow due to the emphasis on the less engaging management systems. Despite this, the strength of the tactical gameplay is enough to carry the experience through to completion. Overall: Excellent tactics core weakened by underdeveloped strategic layer (3.5/5)
Huge disappointment for me and in a short amount of hours. When I bought and started playing Last Train Home I was hoping for a more somber or dark experience led by a struggle for resources when combat is so brutal and around every corner. Instead you get an awkward forceful dialogue experience where characters literally say Marvel-movie tier quips and battles go on endlessly as you slowly move around maps boringly stealthing every combat mission. The trainride map is designed in a way that as long as you put units places you will never come close to running out of resources either, and random events essentially "fake" hardships. Or of course get into actual "loud" combat and just dakka+zurg everything because you'll have a large squad and boredom will catch up. I mean I've got 10 dudes and pausing takes more time, so why not just right click everything? It works even on hard mode. If you're really, really, really into the Commandos series of games but you don't enjoy the charm and mechanics in terms of moving around a map and slowly stealth killing literally everything, then this is going to be your favorite game. For me the stealth mechanics were boring and tiresome after just 5 hours and it seems that every battle was catered off of exploiting the basic stealth mechanics rather than loud combat. Use recon's easily exploitable "discover anything" ability, move one person around and slowly kill the very-obviously-choreographed patrol lines. It takes like 45 minutes and it's a chore every time rather than feeling fun. And even when you play loud combat it's very simple, clunky, and lacks immersion or impact. Especially when afterward your troops will be goofily talking or saying quippy dialogue. Aside all of this the train management is abysmal. There's no easy way to list your troops or filter them by basically any metric that makes it easy/quick to manage. It's trial and error for the most part and on top of it you can't rename troops or give them nicknames or even color codes so that you can easily remember "ah, this guy is good at repairing" etc. -- you just have to tediously look through a lot of screens every time if you don't have immaculate memory. I never felt a pressure for any of the resources given unless I was doing it to myself, like thinking I would need more bandages or medkits later. And at the end of the day your time is the main resource. Do you want to spend literally an hour slowly stealth killing everything or fly through a mission but get some troops hurt in like 10 mins? I picked the latter after doing the former two or three times because it was that awful. Anyway, overall incredibly disappointing for a game I thought would really engage with me. A really unique concept but without active grit or immersion to be found and a very boring and chore-like gameplay loop.
