About

A soulful mystery awaits in Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo, the enchanting and heart-warming adventure where death is just the beginning of the journey.
From the colors and the characters, to the puzzles and exploration, Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is a warm and wonderful trip through a vibrant Latin American-flavored world known as Limbo, interwoven with humor, heart and just a little bit of darkness.

As Kulebra - a snake who awakens in the afterlife with no memory of their past - you are tasked with unravelling the mystery of Limbo, a strange phenomenon that keeps the residents who dwell there repeating the same day on end, all whilst piecing together your own mysterious past.

Limbo’s citizens are trapped in a moment of their lives. The sun rises and sets as they go through the same motions every day, never really understanding the monotonous cycle that they are experiencing. But Kulebra is different. They remember everything, and have the ability to advance time at will. These very special skills will be indispensable in helping Kulebra unfurl the mystery of why these souls are trapped, and how they can be freed.

A host of unforgettable spirits, entities, and characters inhabit Limbo. There are brilliant allies to aid and guide you, citizens to engage you in spirited conversations, native entities with their own feelings about the dead, and those who have deeper and darker motivations. It’s up to you to find out which is which and who is who.

Kulebra is a unique type of entity in this world, a Bright Soul. While you are counted among the dead, you are one of the few who have the unique ability to change the cycles many of the dead find themselves in. Through conversation, discovery, empathy, and some snooping around, you can mark the souls of the dead, helping them overcome what keeps them trapped, and eventually move on. You can help the Souls of Limbo create actual and lasting change.

Galla was founded by two Dominican brothers in Illinois, USA, in 2015, although we started long before moving to the USA. We decided to form this studio because we want to bring adventures and stories that spark enjoyment and leave a big impact on those who experience it, the same way past games shaped us.
Our first project was a mobile endless runner with story elements. This game helped us gain a lot of development insight and confidence as developers. We didn’t want to give up on the studio and our game, so we decided to give the characters and setting of that game a second life to transform them into something a lot closer to games we’ve loved, leading to the creation of Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo.

Fun game! Took me about 10-12 hours from start to finish while exploring every nook and cranny and enjoying the story. Reminded me a ton of Paper Mario Thousand-Year Door. Not just with the art style, but also the gameplay (Not the RPG system). Specifically
Chapter 6's time system with day, evening, and night during the train mystery
. The gameplay is similar to point-and-click games along the lines of "grab this item to use there" or "talk with this character to do that" until you eventually get to a challenge where it "tests your knowledge" on the characters you've run into during the chapter you're playing through. These segments aren't that hard as long as you're paying attention to the story and the characters you meet throughout the game. The best features of this game in my opinion is the art style, story, and the writing. I absolutely adored every character throughout the game and I even loved the side quests! One small gripe I have on the game right now is the ending. I won't go into the specifics, but it left me wanting more in a sense that the story didn't feel like it actually was over. As of writing this, there is an update planned this year that should expand on the post-game so I'm hopeful! Regardless of the ending, I still do feel like this is a fantastic game as it stands right now! I may also come back to edit this review whenever the update drops. TL:DR: Fantastic 10-12 hour experience, highly recommend if you're into story-driven games!
Such a hidden gem. Great narrative-driven game with clever puzzles, a captivating story, intriguing characters and good music. 100% recommend
Really great adventure game. Lost me a bit down the stretch with the overarching narrative and lore, but the characters all shine and are well-written. I enjoyed the music a lot too. I think adding voice acting would be a huge quality-add for this game. It's definitely not needed, but I think it would better highlight the quality of the dialogue. Highly recommend this one regardless.
Genuinely cried when i saw laika. Absolutely beautiful game and so so underrated

Played the Closure Edition. Fantastic game! 9/10. Amazing art, atmosphere, music. The first chapter is unforgettable. And the Plaza is a really fun location. The writing sometimes is a bit heavy-handed. Often the characters abruptly psychoanalyze their own past and motivations out of nowhere. So, not every chapter will resonate with the player. But each chapter still has great atmosphere. And where the individual dialogue sometimes is a bit jarring, the overarching story is VERY creative, and ends up going way deeper than the player initially expects. This game really stands out as one of the most unique games I have played and I hope many more players explore the world of Limbo.
game good! great characters and a great story to go with it.
An amazing story and Gameplay with such a cartoony and cute artstyle. How all stories develop is deeply touching and It is a real shame only a few people have reviewed It. I hope they give a chance to make it a succesful project. Agugá!
It’s a nice, short-ish indie title. I was looking for something to scratch the same itch as Spiritfarer and this mostly fit the bill. I say “mostly” because I think I expected this to be just a cozy puzzle game, and for the most part it was. However, prospective buyers would like to know that along with the cozy puzzles and character arcs, there are several suspenseful stealth and chase sequences. Not a criticism, just not something I expected. As others have mentioned, some of the story beats could have been written better to be more impactful, specifically mid-game for me. But the world of Limbo has a lot of charm, color, and personality, so I can overlook some minor character development or world-building flaws. I did get emotionally attached to several characters and it felt cathartic to help them resolve their issues, which I think is the heart of the game. Very fun and whimsical. I would definitely pick it up on sale.
