Not a lot of reviews so far, so heres mine. Ever play 3DO's game "Slayer" from 1994? No? You weren't born yet? oh well, it was fun!, and so is this game! I've only played for a little bit now, made it down beyond where everything is the typical walls, to more open-cave style areas. I am -not- playing in VR mode, but the frame rate is very crisp with everything seen so far. I am actually enjoying it. Its not an RPG style where you enhance stats like Strength or Dexterity. But it is a Casual yet enjoyable experience thus far! It feels claustrophobic like old SNES "EyeOfTheBeholder", yet its First person action. Was that another obscure ancient game reference from before your birth? Erf.. ok something more modern... um its similar to "Crystal Rift" which I've not played enough of to really compare this to. But it's a grid based dungeon crawler same as this. So far, door-Buttons astrewn-Keys and pressure-plates, are not so strongly hidden that they need a strategy guide to discover. But you do need to keep your eyes open. General rule of thumb, don't dungeon crawl drunk, or you might miss a trip-wire! So far it seems as if it will be a "single play through" sort of game. I didn't see any options for randomizing the dungeon, or workshop content, no Newgame++ or difficulty selection. But at the time i got it for about $5.49 and ill say, if this was an arcade game, id have paid that much to play it in the arcade more then a few times. Not that I've beaten it yet or anything, I've not even died yet! I want to address another reviewers comment real quick. The reviewer said basicly "Some spiders attack and some don't its not consistent!" In reality I've seldom seen spiders predictably favor attack over fleeing. Or vice versa, but if you chase them around enough or go chopping through their nests, can you blame them for attacking? hopefully without spoilers, ill say, they are pretty harmless at first, and they know it. You'll spend more time chasing them then they will turning on you. But gosh they are creepy-tastic! Yick! This game is well thought out for its atmosphere, drawing one in, and leading people on towards story elements. or rather, foreboding elements that build the atmosphere well. It's a very fun nostalgia trip, and in spite of being a Grid-based game, quickly becomes very immersive even without VR. (if a bit >---linear---> so far.) Also it looks good on my 4k, 144hz monitor. Crisp and smooth! It didn't require any graphics resolution setup, and doesn't seem to have any option to do so. it gleamed info auto-magicly! and set itself accordingly. Yay! i got to skip the usually manditory "Dink with the settings menu before you play." ordeal! Cons? Id have to say, Strafing and Turning. Understand, this is a square grid pattern sort of game. Each motion is a full square. But its easy to forget that, when transitions of motion have many frames of motion to the new grid position. Forward and backward, look great! Its when you Rotate with Q and E, or Strafe with A and D that things feel a little snap-jerky... Those directions don't really have smooth animations like W and S (forward and back). There is maybe all of perhaps 5 frames of animation occurring in but a millisecond or two, to inform you you've moved. its more a matter of tracking your foot-step sound and remembering what key you hit. otherwise it's a bit disorientating.. Still this game, despite being a grid-style game, and in spite of jerky strafe and 90° turns, just feels like a relaxed action game. It doesn't feel "Turn based", or like a point-and-click adventure. You can hold up your shield, which halts stamina regen, and blocking eats stamina, which you need for actually attacking when not holding up the shield. It's a good dynamic that even more quickly establishes a sense of being there yourself, rather then on the couch or PC chair. Also so long as your not in proximity of enemies, you can kinda stand around and fall asleep in real life if you have to, or go get a sandwich. So this is definitely casual play! Just not turn based.. if theres an enemy around near by, well it might eventually cross your path. But im literally typing this while my avatar stands in the wide open cave, staring at mushrooms in the light of a doorways torch. I need to feed me. my character doesn't appear to need sustenance. Just a health potion or 2... So far, i am entertained, it feels well built, menus work, graphics auto adjust themselves, i can alt-tab in and out without issues. I rather wish it supported my CONTROLLER, but that's not really an issue. It's a good game to enjoy at night alone. So im recommending it *^-^* i have Definitely played a lot worse attempts at games, that cost more then this. Well done CrazyBunch, thanks for publishing this Headup Games! [Edit] 1> i noticed it did something in the map mode, when my xbox1 controller was connected vie wireless dongle. but I've seen no other evidence of controller support: 2> think i found a bug, the Right arrow key makes you go ← and the Left arrow key makes you go → Is this just my game doing this? 3> Something that whispers seems to be silent now that I've acquired it. *pout* i was looking forward to a babbeling active personality!
Extremely boring. I don't know what to say, I mean the game is cheap. But there is almost nothing to do. The dungeon is bare, and the combat, swinging a sword in VR is not even connected to your hand, but merely an automatic animation whenever you click. I have not found ANY way to alter any settings either. There was just nothing to pull me to play further.
I don't know if this game is actually fun or not but.... There are virtually NO SETTINGS you can make. I mean none! I cannot play any game without inverting the mouse. Believe me, it's very easy to program. This game doesn't offer that option NOR any options. This could be fun but come on... No settings! Refund is the only option here...
I loved playing the game !! Some Kryptcrawler hints for tough parts of the game **SPOILERS***** The switches "on" or triggered position, is down. Tomb of emperor Lodric level There is a rombhus on a wall here, you have to shoot it later after you get the bow in Lower prison to get some treasure. After opening the door with 2 crystals, kill Lodric batting back the balls he fires with your shield. Repeat, and eventually he dies. Take the orb from his throne to the pedestal in the front room of that floor, touch the ball to transport (to upper prison). In upper prison. Door to Lower prison (with the giant hand warden) needs 2 keys, i think red and purple. If it doesnt open, teleport back to boss king level, come back and door is now open. The bow is there somewhere. Lower prison Warden level, where this big skeleton hand grabs you, and a white hand icon gets printed in each square where the hand got you, The dintel of the entrance has one hand touch already. There are gold sparkles in the air above the squares that have a hand. The 4th time he grabs you is back to the entrance cell, but no worries, find a way to the top left of the map with the least hands in the way. In my game it was (Norht, East, West, South) : 2E,N,6E,2N,E,2N,W,2N,3W,N,2W,N no more hand,2W etc, just 3 hand touches and grabbed bow ok. Go through the maze to the place with the bow and arrows. When you pick the bow shoot the green wall diamond. A door opens behind you with and archer, shoot him AND SHOOT A NEW ROMBO BEHIND HIM, OPENS A NEW CORRIDOR BESIDE AND EAST OF YOU WITH A RED ORB, gives you more life, permanent. Go back whence you came, a door bars have lifted, save point and cups of gold. The exit is in the southern part of the prison level. South west to a new area with save point, door with a green open mouthed skull. Planks above precipices, flying skulls that you can shoot with arrows, mortal spikes that stop when shooting rombos, grab a green gem, the last green diamond is behind and above in a wall. Press button, grab red violet orb. Green gem goes in green open mouthed skull. Once you get the bow go back to upper prison, shoot the diamond that is : west, south, east, north center, up in a wall beyond a hole in a corridor, lifts barrs to get some cups of gold. In lower prison to the west, center, is the exit to "Portal Descend" level. (The key is in a cell, south center, open door in the east). "Portal Descend" level Hex message in door 68 74 74 70 73 3A 2F 2F 79 6F 75 74 75 2E 62 65 2F 69 55 59 49 66 5A 78 42 74 39 38 to text : https://youtu.be/iUYIfZxBt98 just a developers joke. In trapdoors part, directions, E,N,E,2N,W,N,2W,2N,E,N,E. Save Point The objective is to flip down 3 little switches in walls that raise a column with a transport portal, and 2 other columns to reach the portal. In one part of the map there are two skeletons behind bars wich raise when you step on a slab, kill them. Grab an electric orb and step on anothe slab in a niche, and a series of walls open on sequence, with lava below. Shoot the diamond dimly seen before thee walls close again. Two ways, first go west, trapdoors, W,N,E,N,2E,N,3W,N,E,N, a switch rises 1 column to portal. The way to the east : 4 switches on a wall. First left flip down, 2nd leave up, green flip down, right one leave up opens door, get red orb for 1 point of permanent life. Enter, the portal, enter 2nd portal to Trials. Three trialss 1st test Run in random directions until you find an exit, or try to make a map. Seems a 10x10 grid with two invisible teleports, all walls are plain, run to the center, when you see walls with protuding bricks around there is a hole in the ground, jump into it. 2nd test Demon, Shield, Axe, Demon, Shield, Fist, Shield is written on a scroll at the table. The four buttons on the floor don't react to stepping or shooting From the scroll and torch, try to step on the symbol (you cant) looking in its direction and go some steps forward till you get to a torch alone. Repeat with various torches, till you get to a gate with a hole to jump into. 3rd test Touch 2nd skull on the right, 3rd skull on the left. Plain of the gods Map called "???" Trapdoors N,W,2N,EE,S,E N being your initial direction, because the map is a mirror image When the eye appears, destroy the blue atom with the hammer. Take the mini mobile rock platforms that appear, destroy the other 3 atoms that protect the eye. Take mobile platform to the eye, attack it with the sword. Repeat 2 times more. Victory ! When the gods talk, turn around to the yellow light and throw the sword into it. The end !!
Saw this game had no reviews, so I decided to take one for the team and buy it to check it out. I've only got 35 minutes in to it, however here's the list: Pros: It brings me back to the old school days of the Playstation 1 in terms of gameplay. There is no hand holding, you've gotta find the switches and solve the puzzles on your own, and I like that. Graphics are reminiscent of the PS1 days, but obviously more updated and polished. Without having made it very far in, the only downside I have found is that it feels like it needs small tweaks (certain mobs won't fight you, while the same type ((spiders)) will fight you) kind of weird, but not a problem. Bottom line: for the price, it's good, if you've got a spare 10$ and want a grid-based old school feeling game, get this! TLDR: good stuff for 10$ think of Kingsfield for VR, if it were grid-based!
Game good. Compatibility and support appalling. Don't buy this game with a vive. Revive doesn't work. You won't get it running in 3d or VR, and the only way of playing it in 2d is with Vorpx. The game automatically starts steamVR every time launched in 2d, leading to crashes. The devs have been told and told. Check the forums if you don't believe me. They aren't doing anything. They released this with exclusive occulus support (on steam!?!?!?!?!) and won't even let you play it on your monitor if you have a vive!
Schlechter, verbugter, Mobilport-VR-Kack!
DO NOT BUY , no chraracter progression, engine suck , poor graphicr , poor control , no real story, very limited control of inventory. this game a deception in evething and an aberration for dungeon crawler games.
La manette n'est pas détectée et impossible de jouer avec un clavier français. Une reconfiguration des touches serait la bienvenue.
Just very very good (I'm not playing in VR). It's old skool and it is a simple RPG (it's not "Eye of the Beholder 2" what is in mij opinion one of the best old skool RPG games ever, but Kryptkrawler gave me the same feeling). The style looks like "Dragon's Lair (3D) return to the Lair". It seems to be very simpel especially in the begining but it become better and better. For me 9 out of 10.
