About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

I am a huge supporter of the IL -2 Series - ILY IL2 :( Blegh!! yucky!!! ptooey!! After playing the game (which I will have to refund) I have seen that the entry price is NOT worth it for what it currently offers - so far, the LOVELY dev danielhan has given very interesting responses to the game's criticism, disagreeing with most negative reviews I've seen while also mentioning to switch negative reviews to positive. I felt like it was just not enough for the entry price and should be waited on for a discount. My opinion of course, it's feeling $50. I would have a good review if the price was lower, or more content. Maybe in another universe...
Lets start with positive stuff: -spotting enemy contacts feels natural and good again -sound effects are better -new ground physics are nice addition -good graphics, even on my low setting with my low end pc. (appart from flaming explosions, somehow they all have strong black lines on the edges make them look like out of a comic book. Even on 4K settings that I watched on youtube) -expanding on career mode and having more startegic options as commander is very nice addition -extenden interface and interactive possibilities got better. Now the Bad stuff: -where the f*ck are british planes?! Same with many others from american roster? You expect me to unlock every single one for aditional 20€ after I paid 80 already?! And don't you dare to compare it to DCS as their planes, even though overpriced as well, are far more complex! Overall DCS finance model should not be taken as a standard for sim games. -for the amount of boosting about new physics and dmg models in prewievs and trailers I was expecting more. Its just a sligh improvement compared to Battle of Stalingrad. Flight models feel a bit better but dmg is still arcade-ish. If the devs don't know how, they should have a look at Cliffs of dover blitz as its superb! -AI is still braindead. Even on hardes settings The AI flies clueless around, I find it even worse than in BOX. I even put my self in a disadvantage and it just broke off in a wide turn for no reason. It feels like some placeholder so they don't fly straight ahead and nothing else. Once again CLOD has it covered, even IL-2 46 has better AI. -Singleplayer Air to Ari combat feels dull because of bad AI. And I could not test the career mode further because of it. It was just too boring. -graphic setting could actualy in default hurt your performance if you have no clue about PCs as it was for me set for FSR even though I have Nvidia graphics and DLS is supperior for mine setup. just something to do with basic optimation. Begginers be aware. -If you are looking for a good singleplayer content you should look probably elsewhere, Ground strike missions are ok, Multiplayer I guess as well because AI factor is minimal. New physics, overall life quality improvements and strategic possibilities in career mode have greate potential, but thats about it. RIght now the game feels rushed out. 80€ for 6 planes and half backed game is in my opinion far too much. In this state I rate it 5/10. I am refunding it. Maybe will rebuy if it gets better. My rating for IL-2 series goes as : 1.Cliffs of Dover Blitz best WWII flight physics (taxiing is better in never games but thats all) even graphics are decent. 2. IL-2 1946 (Graphics are very old otherwise it would compleetly render the other games below inferior) still ok physics and wide range of planes and missions, if you slap mods like HSFX or B.A.T on it you get the biggest content out there. 3.BOX singleplayer/ Korea Multiplayer 4.Korea singleplayer/ BOX Multiplayer

Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI. The dev is Russian, and it shows. Mig-15 are flown to perfection way better than a human player would, and dance circles around sabre even at low altitude. They don't make mistakes and just BNZ bombers, making passive even the tutorial missions pure RNG you have no influence on.
To me, this plays very similar to GB, but with more up to date graphics. I do, however, believe that it should be marked as early access, as I've been running into quite a few bugs, and I also believe that, at the 80 dollar price point, there just isn't much here. There's only a handful of flyable planes at the present, and I know that given the history of this studio, each plane will end up costing at *least* 20 USD each. At its core, it is a good flight sim, and its fun. But I don't know that 80 USD is worth it given its current state. I'm going to mark this as not recommended for now, but really my opinion is just mixed. There's good and there's bad here.
Wait for Discount and/or Patches
I had several crashes, the game doesn't like ALT-TAB at all, it seems (even in windowed fullscreen), setting up controls is a pain in the ass too (Thustmaster 16000m HOTAS) and also requires knowledge of the planes (e.g. a MiG 15 has no toe-brakes but you need to set up differentials) etc. Performance itself was nice, high settings, 4K (2K native with DLDSR 2.25x), DLSS Quality: had the set limit of 120 FPS most of the time (full system at the end). I've spent 119min setting up controls and testing flight performance and restarting the crashed game close to a dozen times. The content itself is too meagre for my taste. No introductions to get used to the planes and learn about their quirks, and I had little time to take but a glance at the mission and campaign. For the very steep price of 100€, the experience wasn't good enough to go further, I refund. To put things into perspective: I've spent hundreds of € on FS2020/24 and had no regrets paying 54€ for a single plane (A2A Piper Comanche). As for now, I'm under the impression, that IL-2 Korea would be but a 100€ electronic paperweight on my m2 drive. I keep the game on my watch list for future updates and player reviews. Full System: i9 13900k with ASUS ROG Ruyin III AIO cooler, Gigabyte Aorus Z790 Master (BIOS with i9 micro algorithm fix), 2x16 GB DDR5 GSkill Trident Z5 6Ghz, MSI RTX 5080 Suprim Liquid, Soundblaster Z/Audeze Maxwell Wireless, WD Black SN 850X 4TB M2, Corsair HX1000i PSU (1000W, 32" Samsung Odyssey G7 (curved, G-Sync)
I'm sorry to say this, but what a disappointment this game is. For the price you pay, it feels more like an alpha product than early access. The graphics and sound are barely upgraded from the previous IL2 series. The UI is very convoluted and difficult to understand. For example, it took me over a 1/2 hour for the joystick to be setup well enough for the aircraft to respond to basic flight controls. Although many times, the settings do not keep and you are back to square one and have to setup things up once again. Refunded.
This is a tough one but as it stands now I can only judge what is given to us. Its been said many times so i wont beat a dead horse but the game looks, sounds and feels great. Fantastic blend of hardcore sim and casual. Truly the middle ground between warthunder and DCS say. Now that all said the AI is BEYOND BAD, game breaking ly bad i would say. Theres no pattern to it either. Some people have the issue when landing or flying in formation or fighting etc but the AI pilots (Especially your allied ones) crash maybe 40% of the time. Its never just one either its none or half the squad. FIX THE AI
While the game is fun and the campaign mode is much more detailed than the first IL-2, I just can't reccomend this with the current price. It's wildly expensive for what is offered, wait for a deep sale.
