About

Korea. IL-2 Series takes you to a pivotal moment in aviation history—a time when jet engines changed the skies forever. During the Korean War, the piston-engine aircraft of a bygone era clashed with the first jet fighters.
For the first time in the series, gamepads are supported in addition to joysticks and HOTAS control systems.
With a massive combat map, authentically recreated aircraft, and a well-crafted balance between simulation and accessibility, every dogfight is brought to life.
Become an ace, fight in legendary machines, or aim even higher and become a regiment’s commander. Lead squadrons, plot routes across the combat map, and issue orders to turn the tide of history. In the skies of Korea, you can be anyone: from a rank-and-file pilot to a strategist shaping the outcome of the campaign.
For the first time in the IL-2 series, full controller support has been implemented.

The aircraft of the Korean War have been recreated based on actual blueprints, historical photographs, flight manuals, and other archival materials. There are eight* aircraft at your disposal.
*Please note La‑11 and F‑84E Thunderjet are available in the Premium and Deluxe editions, or as a separate DLC.

Every instrument in the cockpit is fully functional and reflects the state of the aircraft’s systems in real time. You will be aiming and firing just as pilots did 75 years ago.

The game takes place on the largest map in the series' history, covering an area of over 200,000 square kilometers. The Korean Peninsula has been recreated based on historical maps and documents from the 1950s. All significant historical landscape changes have been accounted for, including reclaimed coastal areas and shoreline changes.
The map features dozens of airbases with historically accurate layouts, hundreds of settlements, and strategic objectives such as ports, dams, and transport hubs.

The Home by Christmas campaign tells the story of Captain Jack Russell, who in 1950 secures a transfer to a combat unit fighting in the Korean War to fulfill his dream of becoming a jet ace.
You will fly 15 historically accurate combat missions, recreated from the combat logs of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing and the memoirs of its pilots.
The campaign reflects unique challenges of the war's early months: jet aircraft could not operate from small forward airstrips, so some pilots had to temporarily return to piston-engined machines. Over the course of the campaign, you will fly both the F-51 Mustang and the F-80 Shooting Star jet.

In Career mode, you will act as an air regiment commander, managing personnel and overseeing aviation logistics.
It is up to you to decide whether to take to the skies or focus on strategic tasks. As a regiment commander, you will maintain combat readiness, plan operations, and reinforce your units.

Korea features a highly detailed damage model for both aviation and ground objects. Aircraft, including strategic bombers, as well as ground vehicles, trains, and ships, receive damage corresponding to the nature of the hits sustained.
Every object reacts realistically to collisions, crashes, and combat damage, taking into account mass, speed, and the point of impact, directly affecting the behavior of the vehicle and the outcome of the battle.

In this new mode, you can examine each aircraft, ground vehicle, and naval vessel in detail. Explore the models, learn about their development and combat history, inspect aircraft cockpits, and compare technical specs, including detailed performance charts.
Your own personal museum, open anytime—a true treasure for anyone passionate about aviation and military history.

For the first time in the series, you can leave the cockpit and walk around the airfield where your regiment is based.
Animations of the people—pilots, soldiers, and civilians—were created using motion capture (MOCAP) technology, ensuring natural and lifelike movement.
Full VR support via OpenXR and OpenVR.
Accessibility: The game features detailed systems management, but there’s no need to memorize engine start-up sequences—you can take off and engage immediately.
Hardware support: From controllers to desktop joysticks and professional HOTAS systems.

Reviews
I want to start this out by pointing out that this review is due to this game being $80 and having two planes as DLC at launch for $20 each. This game is fun. It looks nice. Runs without issues. The missions are interesting and the campaign mode is nice. A MASSIVE problem with this game is that it has only three flyable aircraft for each side at the moment. This game is essentially VERY early access and that fact that it is priced as is, is beyond me. I cannot "recommend" someone to buy this game as its hilarious to spend so much money for so little. If in the future more free content updates come out then I'll change this review but it would. An honestly fair price for this game would be $20. Just no content in it at the moment.
Overpriced, brain dead AI, primitive/boring campaign, only six planes. Wait for a sale.

In short, this game is fantastic! Let's start with the cons: -The aircraft physics are extremely realistic. That might not be for everyone, but I'm sure many flight sim fans will love it. -I'm a complete beginner when it comes to flight simulators, so getting started was pretty tough. This game is basically the Dark Souls of flight sims. -My PC struggles to run the game smoothly in 4K. -The game is quite expensive. On the other hand, it's easy to see why—the developers clearly invested a huge amount of time into making the flight physics as realistic as possible. Now for the pros: -The museum is amazing! I spent a couple of hours just exploring it. The artists paid incredible attention to detail. -I tried all the flight tests, and every aircraft has its own unique handling and personality. -The game has excellent controller support. -The world looks beautiful, with stunning mountains, clouds, and especially the sunsets. -I started Career Mode and really enjoyed the amount of customization available for your pilot. The variety of portraits and biographies is impressive. -The UI is beautiful, polished, and well-designed. Overall, this game was clearly made with passion. It really lets you feel like a pilot from that era. Yes, it's difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, I can easily see myself spending well over a hundred hours playing it.
I got the game today, there price was ok for me, but i live in China so it cost 50USD. I returned it, there are to many key binds to set up. I play in VR so clickable cockpits come in handy for the more obscure switches, I played on a flat screen for about 10 minutes, the graphics were not that much different than IL2. I wanted to like this game but if I kept it I would never use it. Try before you buy it, just do the minimum key binds to get going so you don't go over 2 hours so you can get a refund if your unhappy with the game.
It's neat, love controller support wish it'd let you play in career mode as a squadron pilot not as its commander like in sturmovik.
A missed opportunity to finally answer the call the players have been asking for with a progressive era-intimate campaign; and given a map editor, singleplayer campaign, and the most basic multiplayer functions with just simple duel modes. The year is 2026 and the devs think that the players want the most basic, foundation-level release. For such a high price-tag you would presume that there is something special and new that would be brought to the table aside from a new era. I have played endless hours of the IL2 Sturmovik campaign generator and that would have made this game perfect. But the lack of multiplayer content, the limited plane arsenal, and the exact same tedious control setup scheme with a different mask is not worth $80.
I love il2 but I think for the content currently I don't think its worth the $80 price tag. ESPECIALLY with what 2/8 planes being 20 bucks each behind a paywall...thats the main issue, another grip is the lack of coop content, maybe it was a me issue and i misunderstood or am doing something wrong but i thought there was gonna be coop careers and campaigns but so far its just coop dogfight mode against bots. So again adds to lack of content. However all that aside, this game is 100% an improvement over il2, it feels very same but better in a good way, the game looks stunning, the damage models are very very nice, game runs fairly well for me but i do have a higher end system. Currently with price and content i cannot recommend this game to anyone unless you're a die hard sim fan, I think on sale or given a year or so for more content this would be very worth, but as of right now with current content, game should really be like 50 bucks, if that.
Let me start by saying that the price is steep. I understand the amount of work that has gone into this, and it’s appreciated, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is still an early access game that’s been advertised as a fully finished product. I know I’m gonna get some flight sim glazers and maybe even a dev response for this, but these are my opinions. Now that’s out of the way, this is a big upgrade from IL-2 GB. The game itself feels good and the flying feels great. The map is really cool and the whole setting really is just plain neat. If you’ve ever been the USAF museum in Dayton, OH, this game looks how that museum smells lol. I’d recommend this game to people who understand what they’re getting into with this $80 purchase. I can’t downvote the game because it is fun and I think they did a pretty decent job with it. But it feels like as a consumer that I’m being squeezed for my money with the current lack of content. I would feel better about the purchase if there was more aircraft/more content (that aren’t going to be separate paid DLC). To the devs, I understand you worked hard on this, and I applaud you for this. But the pleading in the negative reviews to change their opinions and their thoughts on the game isn’t the solution. Show them with the game why their opinion on the game should change. Let your work in the game change their opinion.
Can't recommend at the moment due to the AI. I did several quick missions to give it a chance and it just doesn't engage. At one point I joined a formation of B-29s at low speed in a MiG and they didn't even shoot at me. If anything, it's worse than the GB series in this regard. Edit: Following response from the developer that I needed to change the AI skill level, I tried again. Results below. I've refunded. Other than that, it runs well on my system albeit with the contrails of aircraft looking a bit weird at times (they seem to sparkle as do the edges of clouds). The handling of the aircraft feels pretty good. The map is nice. It's a good base to work on but as it's a combat sim, the expecation is the enemy aircraft will fight back and I'm not seeing that right now.
