KINGDOM ♥♥♥ has one of the best character development systems and storylines I've played. At the start, Henry is just a blacksmith's son. u are weak, so don't expect to win every fight. Avoid unnecessary combat until u learn "Master Strike" from Sir Bernard. Once u unlock it, combat becomes much more easier but, don't get overconfident. Taking on a whole group alone is still a bad idea. A few tips: * Learn "Master Strike" from Sir Bernard as soon as possible. * Keep leveling ur perks and skills. * Learn Alchemy. Potions are incredibly useful, and nowadays u can easily learn recipes from Google or YouTube instead of buying every book. * Sell unwanted loot and always haggle for better prices. What most frustrated me is that some quests can be really confusing, and the game still has a few bugs. There were times I almost gave up, but Reddit and YouTube helped me figure things out. For those complaining that u can't take on a whole group... what the fk did u expect? 😂 This game is built around realism. You think this is Assassin's Creed where u can solo 20 guards by spamming counter? That said, I have to admit... the controls for bow aiming and especially lockpicking on a controller are absolutely cursed. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who played the entire game with controller-only lockpicking. Luckily, I played on PC, so I could switch between my controller and mouse whenever I needed to. I still finished the game mostly with a controller, but yeah... this game definitely wasn't made with controller players in mind. Overall, it's an amazing RPG with a rewarding progression system. Stick with it. The early game is tough, but it's absolutely worth it. Good luck, and enjoy the journey.

The game is engrossing and rather charming, but extremely clunky and rough around the edges. It depicts the beautiful world of middle-ages Bohemia perfectly, and tries to do a lot of things at once. Unfortunately, seems like the game designers didn't really know a lot of actual game design, so a lot of mechanics are actively hostile to the player, disrespectful of the time put into it, or just plain don't work as intended. On the technical side, being released in 2018 makes this game just old enough that it doesn't work properly on modern hardware, not supporting any of the modern "helper" features like DLSS/frame generation, being locked to rather unpleasant 30FPS in cutscenes (where vsync makes everything stutter horribly) and not utilizing modern CPUs properly. I remember it not working well back in the day due to the contemporary hardware just not being strong enough to run it properly, so it's kinda ironic it STILL can't run (fully) properly. As for the gameplay issues, the "tutorial" phase is drawn out across multiple hours, new mechanics are just thrown at the player expecting instant adaptation, there are visible timers, hidden timers, hidden timers that you realize are hidden timers after five hours of playing the game and having no way to load and fix your mess, the story references choices which were actually never taken, the entire hunger/energy mechanic, as it often happens, feels unnecessary and tacked on, and is often just more busywork rather than doing something authentic and "realistic". Speaking of realism, as this is a no-fantasy RPG, there sure are a lot of fantastical elements and mechanics, such as an auto-maintenance teleporting horse and magical potions with impossible effects. Even being so clunky and unpolished, KCD is actively drawing me into its world and I feel the need to see the story through, as well as the sequel. The characters are VERY interesting and rather unique (I'll just mention father Godwyn, a Kosovo battle veteran-turned-priest of questionable morals) and the connection between your character and them feels genuine and "human" in a way I've rarely seen in any game. I also have to commend the game for introducing an actual medieval "superpower" - the ability to learn to read! It's depicted and implemented in a really interesting manner and I genuinely enjoy reading the multitude of books in the game. So- I can actually recommend this title despite its many flaws!
Strolling in Rattay, ate some apples and bread, died because of bandits. 10/10

Amazing game, difficult as heck to get into cause of the combat, but insanely fun
