the game is great BUT really unbalanced and too easy to a point were it's almost unplayable the AI has 3 huge issues, they don't build eco causing them to die by default after some time they don't recruit many units and probably the most important they don't send their units from their cities to their armies once you defeat the inital army a nation spawns with you won, or you just wait a bit for most nations to just run out of money and die, it really is waaay to easy because of it now the biggest issue is that i don't see any news about simple bug/balance fixes from the devs for like a very long time this is why i really wouldn't recomend buying it yet, simply because the underlying issues that make the game too easy and no fun may never be fixed i personally will wait a few day and see if i can find any news, if not i will sadly have to refund the game because a game that doesn't make fun is just a waste of money, even if i like the game at its core and it would make soooo much fun if it wasn't for these 3 basic issues
It is a good game with an incredibly unique twist to the strategy genre. For that alone I would give it a recommendation despite having some gripes with it. I found it very easy to snowball (a common issue in strategy games) and warfare being tedious and micro-heavy once nothing can stand in your way. Grand strategy veterans are likely to trivialize the game in a short period of time.
Crusader King's light. If they dive into the hazards and timed delay in communications. They could have a really unique game embracing the fog of war. Increasing the spy game would truly make it something special. As is the combat feature makes winning very easy. With mass archers as they get to attack nearly every combat exchange. So even having a small force of various front lines to throw away can protect a large force of archers to kill everything. Add in the AI chat after action reports and the AI not doing war eco or building up of armies past the initial start. Makes this of worth only on a steep sale or when CK's is too much detail. For anyone who is interested in this kind of kingdom management game.
Get it. Just do it. If you like any Paradox, Total War or even just any strategy game then you'll like this. I love the immersion even just the style of the game gives. The Developer did RADIO COMMANDER a game that I liked, concept and all. You had to track movements of enemies AND friendlies yourself via tokens on a board and try to build yourself an accurate picture of the battlefield, to then make decisions. For the price it was an entertaining game. King's Orders however is lacking for me. Even for the price at a sale. It is too big of a map to keep track of all tokens yourself, so the RADIO COMMANDER approach can't be realized. Instead, all your orders are just delayed. Or worst case scenario need to be sent repeatedly as they may be intercepted... however... I can send the order 3 times in a row no problem, at virtually no cost. Chances of them all being intercepted I believe are miniscule. When it really matters, I change my capital (at no cost and consequence?) and my letters are being sent from closer to the frontline. In the end, the letter aspect of orders has not influenced my game play a single bit. The gameplay loop for me was: Survive by diplomatic or defensive means (can be hard0->Build Economy (can be figured out with math)->Print units->Steamroll everything. If you enjoy THAT gameplay loop I recommend to instead play any total war game. At least there you get to play out some pitched battles, and the UI is not trying to drive you nuts. On that topic, the UI is really infuriating.... for like ...no reason? If I want to build a building in a city... 1) I look at the building menu to see what can be built, what has been built already, what can be upgraded, what is being built right now. 2) Then I need to open the letter writing function and write to the city..... RIGHT CLICK CITY Hit 1 for Region Hit 5 for Build Hit 1 for Economic Hit X for building I want Hit X for build or upgrade (THEN I THROWS ME OUT OF THE ECONOMIC BUILD MENU AND I GET TO CLICK 5 AGAIN, THEN 1 AGAIN, then X again.... so its a pain in the *** to give a city multiple build orders at the same time... .(same for sending or recruiting units btw...) finally Hit B to send the letter. ... Dear Devs... the build menu is right there and open so I know what it build at what cost for what reason .... ... why cant I right click the symbol, select build/upgrade and the letter writes itself from there? Then the stewards. If you want me to give control to the stewards... then why limit it so much? I want to control which units they are allowed to build. And the order in which to build economic buildings...... And what takes priority (recruitment or development or upgrades?) I use the same build path in the cities 90% of the time. I have to repeat the damn letters over and over again... because the buildings are only built if I have gold in the treasury. There is no option to tell them "build this when you have money" TLDR: By the time I figured out it plays exactly like total war and the letter mechanic can basically be ignored, it was too late to refund it. Constructive Criticism aka my dumb 2cents: - The UI needs to be reworked. All orders are letters, yes we know, but there is no reason you need to simulate me writing them from scratch. - Give more control to the player for the stewards and regions. As in, let the regions follow a build path. Let regions PLAN so they can follow the build path in the future even if there is no money in the treasury NOW. There are mechanics to let me me assign budgets to each region, and divide it into: Recruitment Budget (and let me control what we recruit) Building Budget (and let me give a build path) Upgrade Budge (same as above) When enough money is in their relevant budget they action it. The game play loop would still need SOMETHIGN to make letters more relevant... and I have no idea what that could be. But at least with above 2 changes the game would be more pleasant to play. Giving orders once and seeing your stewards execute them is its own satisfaction.
Interesting idea but it has too many problems. Some examples - sending troops requires way too many clicks. Select source, select troop type, select number, select destination. Want to send two different types of troops? Repeat. - laying siege to a city. No info on progress. General reports "no troop in <cityname>", order assault: 5k dead. Is it a case of imperfect information or just a bug? - AI diplomacy is just bad. They send envoys to improve relations and soon after they declare war
Liked the easy to learn part, but it gets repetitive, specially when the enemy keeps on sabotaging your buildings

Steam上太多看上去好玩,买回来实测离大谱的游戏,本作是其中之一。 本来,本作最抓玩家眼球的玩法介绍是:放到[b]通讯不便的中世纪[/b],扮演国王,如何治理军民,开疆拓土? 听上去是很惊艳的创意是吧?可惜,本作玩起来唯一的亮点,也仅仅是看似惊艳的创意了,实际游玩体验相当糟糕。 AI人均特朗普:从爱尔兰到契丹,反正每个AI都跟特朗普一样无脑抓马,头天签的贸易条约,过两天一定撕毁,没一点惩罚那种。外交的拉踩、开战也完全随机。逼得本来想搞远交近攻、长袖善舞的玩家,只能走出一条独立自主、自力更生的道路来。 数值崩坏:AI方完全不会治国理政,打仗只会百十个百十个地添油送人头,完全想不通放着家里动辄几万的后备人力干嘛的。省份唯一有价值的数据只有原生人口数量,人口大省才值得发展经济,反之人少省份无论如何以倾国之力扶贫,扶到通关都收不回成本。贸易?前述人均特朗普的AI就不说了,相比砸满了小万元级的基建,只能每个月收回百十块的贸易收入,我老老实实收几千块的人头税不香吗? 纯文本游戏体验极其糟糕,总体上感觉,你的那些搞办公室邮件政治的装逼犯领导们,集体穿越回中世纪,当你的傻缺AI对手了:专业生产又臭又长,看似客套礼貌,实则屁话连篇,有用的内容就一两句的邮件。还好,游戏中的英文字体还算好识别,没有装逼用哥特手写花体之类。 最后向策略类同好玩家安利:如果嫌玩P社作品太重太累,类似主打“战场信息偏差决策”的小品,可以尝试二战题材的《电台将军》(Radio General),但仅限其英文版(aka 中文翻译辣鸡)。个人评测可参考:https://steamcommunity.com/id/Ryan_Z/recommended/1011610/
DO NOT BUY- yet this game is buggy and the controls are clunky. i regret purchasing after multiple game breaking bugs have caused me to lose a run multiple times. i will not be playing this game for a long time. not until the developers fix their broken mess.
I have owned this game for 2 days and I have 19,3h on Record. Niche Game but actually GOATed.
