This the first game in the series; it's pretty good and provide an extremely immersive experience.
whoever recc'ed this, it's on sight, the writing was way to fast that one minute im a new student and the next im an adult doing taxes while being handcuuffed to magical broom in the bathroom bc of wtf is happening. the romance and friendship part is so fast we might as well married and had kids after 5 seconds of meeting each other plus it felt like i was being waterboarded with the lack of information that when i did need information i was there being like did i miss anything?? (no bc i played a couple of runs already on this). The twist didn't make sense in the larger part of things as the whole motivation wasnt given in the main part of the story that if u missed it, u missed 30% of the narrative. Can't in good conscious rec this one and hope the author's writing got stronger in the sequels that i will be skipping out on unfortunately
I cant ever remember writing a review for a steam game before this. I have played dozens of these text based games and the keeper series is far and away my favorite. The Romance options are all great and the story is compelling. The world itself is enchanting and I cannot wait for the third book in the trilogy. If you are a fan of these types of games I cannot recommend this series enough. The first book is excellent and is the worst of the three games so far. Truly excellent work.
Please provide trigger warnings. Holy asdf the nephilim branch and having my free will taken away was awful and terrible and i do not want the fact that compulsion magic is such a major theme is itself kind of asdf for me, would have liked to know that before i bought this. This was actually horrifying and i feel like my character being super stressed was perfectly justified. also it's hard to tell what results in stat increases. can't play as a nephelim again. started a new playthrough trying to focus on willpower, but somehow i'm at 2 willpower (less than before!) and i'm already halfway through the game. Well written though. Engaging story, lots of interesting twists and characters. The compulsion thing is definitely a me thing rather than a game thing, if you don't have issues with that i recommend it.
Frankly, this series is actually an unrecognized sort of pinnacle for this genre of games. There's serious branches and secrets, making this one of the more actually re-playable CoGs. There are spots where the writing doesn't feel completely polished, but this is true of 99% of these sorts of games, and this one has better writing than most. It has significantly more depth of story, better and more interesting characters, and payoff than most other CoGs out there now. There are several series that have gotten more purchases and plays than others since they're clearly the cream of the crop, and this game definitely deserves to be one of those.
Both games are amazing, a fully fleshed out world with a variety of interesting, unique characters. Can't wait for the next one.
So I found this after looking for more games like The Wayhaven Chronicles (which I highly recommend). This is different in tone, but no less full of drama, hilarious antics, and a really interesting, well fleshed out world. I've played through several routes, and found them all to be worthwhile, fun, and just downright amazing. The author does a fantastic job of setting the scene of this novel/game, giving you details when you need them and putting them into conversations and the like so you're never left going, what the hell? Or feeling overwhelmed by all the information. I was really pulled into this world; it's got that whole secret society feel to it, whilst still being rooted in modern day life. You play as a college student which was a tonne of fun, because despite there being some serious ♥♥♥♥ going down, you still get stupid antics and a wide variety of characters to befriend and romance. And the romances are so worth it, I cannot sing their praises enough. Every one was well fleshed out, full of sweetness and hilarious moments, and really helped settle you into the world. But the friendships really sold this for me. There isn't a single character that's boring, all of them are fun, interesting and with stories of their own. I adored Astrid, Thalia is easily the funniest, and Seraphina has a special place in my heart just because she's genuinely a really cool character. The plot was well done, and yeah, sure you could argue that unsuspecting human finds themselves to be a member of a secret magic society is overdone (personally I don't think it is) but this is so well written that it completely contradicts that. Every time I found something interesting, it would only get better. Every time I couldn't stop laughing, there would be more to come. I don't know how I got through this without keeling over, because I swear I had to walk away at several points to calm down. I've played through the second at this point, and I know the author is writing the third and final book at the moment, and considering that second book is just as good, probably even better, then I cannot wait for the third. So yeah, buy it. It's costs bugger all and you won't regret it.
It was a good game there are a lot of different choices and different ways to play. Also they released the sequel
Fantastic read!
good stuff, can't wait to play the second game
