Very well made game using the O.H.RPG.C.E. ( : Building a game around minesweeper is a novel concept. As the title suggests, it is more tactics than minesweeper, though. Wish it was a bit faster paced. There is a really cool hidden shopkeeper in the game with special unlocks like hats for your tanks. I can't stress enough what a cool dude this shopkeeper is. Finished the main campaign, 8 stages. There is an infinite mode as well. Purchased the game on itch.io, received a steam key.
This is a nice concept. The two genres blend well together and missions are fun when they don't drag on too long and turn into a micro-managing mess. I only feel that this concept would play out much better in PvP. Juggling between minesweeping, deploying units and re-mining in patterns that your opponent cant effectively sweep sounds much better than what this game is. Anyway, this is an original game and as a minesweeper fan, I'm happy to see a new unique twist on this.
A, m havin fun
Minesweeper meets Advance Wars It's a charming little strategy game, where you need to plan accordingly to progress through the caves while dealing with what comes your way. The tutorial might be a bit confusing at first, but once you get a hang of the commands of each unit, the game is a breeze to finish. Specially once you figure out the optimal digging strategy. (Wink wink) 6.5/10, dig it up on a sale
pretty fun, short and sweet campaign, not much more beyond that however.
This is a really solid game. Minesweeper puzzle at the edge of your territory will help lead your way, but the game also lets you buy a scanner unit to resolve any potential 50/50 guesses, and a defuser to break through mines if you need extra space to move units. Most levels are won through economy (get 150 points of energy), so you're incentivised to keep your fleet small. I will say that the enemies aren't too challenging (after 4 hours of play), and half the challenge is manoeuvring as the units can't pass through each other, but it's a satisfying game still. This game definitely doesn't deserve to be forgotten in the depths of Steam, and I'm glad I bought it!
Katja's Abyss is a very unusual combination of tactical RPG and puzzle. It takes some time to get the hang of the strategy, but it is well worth it.
