Good game for the soundtrack alone. Jank camera and lack of auto save and annoying minimized tutorial at the start aside it's a classic and worth a play.
I have no idea how someone came up with a game like this and what kind of drugs they used to do it, but I'm glad it exists.
roll roll roll i love rolling
ROYAL RAINBOW! Absolutely killer soundtrack, addicting gameplay, and fantastic whimsy and humor. In no other game can you run over and attach hundreds of crabs or birds to a sticky ball for your cylindrical-headed giant father with a jamming vocal jazz song playing in the background. I had no idea what this game was like before going into it, and the lyrics of the end credits song really made me fond of this game and the metaphor of rolling the silly katamari all across the world: "LOVE! Connect with one another, despite the walls that exist between us. TRY! We want to roll everything in, Roll in, even the broken hearts. LOVE! We should all be rolled in as one!" Beneath all the silliness and zaniness (which is so charming in its own right) is a metaphor for human connection. Each giant katamari minus the last one is turned into a bright star or constellation. It really sells the point that we all shine bright like stars when we are together. Pure art.
I haven't played any other Katamari games before, but I really enjoy this one! Controls are solid but can be really tricky to get the hang out. Overall a great game to just mindlessly play.
I love you Katamari thank you Katamari <3
Little janky but still a very good game and a great start to an amazing franchise.

PEAK!! This has easily become one of my favorite games. The only problem with it i have are the keyboard controls, but once you get used to them, they're not that big of a problem anymore :3
