Zakichi's first release on steam is a frantic thrill ride that will always leave you darting around to dodge enemy fire while trying to get as many points as possible. KAIKAN is a game that expects that you live and breathe for score and to be on the offensive as much as you can. But having to stop shooting so you can auto collect the score items is an interesting curve ball. Since you get penalized for letting even a single one fall below the screen, it becomes necessary to fall into a rhythm of firing, pausing, then firing, over and over again. Even though you could choose to not play for score, you'd only be hindering yourself for not trying in the long run. The power of your bomb depends on your item rank and collecting items fuels progress toward your next bomb, which you can only have one of. Hanging around the bottom of the screen? Well that'll just make it more likely to get penalized. Waiting awhile to use your bomb? Well if you get hit, you lose it and using your bomb means you can get your next one that much sooner. KAIKAN is such a treat. The metal music is a perfect for the feel of the game and the visuals have gotten a nice boost compared to the older version. An option to use the music from the free version would have been a nice extra though. I like all the shot types, though Type F is pretty tricky. Probably on the intimidating side for a beginner but it's still lots of fun.

It's good for the price. It leans a bit on the easy side until the last stage and it's short, but it has six ships. I am interested in seeing the dev's other games.
I happily paid for this game since I played the original Kaikan well over 20+ hours. I love the original freeware version very much so I was taken off guard when I heard the new music. However, I have grown to really like the new music. This version provided the ability to change the resolution to more modern ones. Slight scoring tweaks but Kaikan retains everything that makes this game great. Highly recommended !!!
One of the best score-focused shmups of all time. If you like medal chaining, offensive score bombing, and boss cancels, you'll love Kaikan. The Steam version has a lot of nice QOL updates but also has a pretty different aesthetic from the original doujin version with the new soundtrack, some altered graphics (the new medal sprites look kind of washed out to me) and the removal of viewport panning. I think both versions have their appeal, I say pick this up to support a dev who very much deserves it and try playing both!
Ridiculously good value. The music and sound design are top notch, visuals are crisp and clear (giving some Raizing vibes!) and the gameplay is extremely satisfying. For this price you'd have to be a fool not to pick it up, regardless of your skill/experience level.
Not a bad STG game. Short and sweet, and clearly a labor of love. What keeps me from wanting to play it more, though, is that there's only one difficulty, and it leans towards the easy side. Bosses also die way too quickly, and some of the ships easily annihlate everything on-screen in the earlier levels, so you're left twiddling your thumbs since nothing can touch you. But the clincher for me are the LONG level transitions, which makes completing a level feel like punishment, and it discourages me from doing repeat playthroughs to beat my hi-score. It's a short game with short levels, and bosses made of paper, so why does it constantly take me out of control in every playthrough?
great score-focused play, and quite a bit more digestible than the arcade inspirations. can't go wrong with this one, especially if you like fun scoring mechanics.
It's... decent. The way medals work is hateful design, and the final stage is AWFUL (really though, are there any shmups with good final stages?).
An interesting shoot em up with a unique mechanic that punishes your score for just mindlessly holding down the fire button. Enemies drop gold medals for points and your points increase exponentially if you collect many of them in a row without having them fall off screen. The catch is that whn you le go of the fire button, all medals fly towards you, so there is an interesting risk/reward system of knowing when to shoot down enemies and when it is safe to let go to collect the medals for big points. Also, the soudtrack is heavy metal as hell! I love a game that is confident enough to have their song labels at the corner of the screen at all times.
O trailer te faz acreditar que o jogo é do bom kkkk O jogo nao vale um ovo.
