A vertical arcade shoot'em up with an inventive teleport system, lots of fast-blazing action and explosions, tons of boss fights, a risk/reward based score system and a proper challenge for both veteran and new players of the genre.

OVERVIEW: Remember that kid in school that wears budget clothes but gets A grades on every subject? Meet Sophstar Imagine learning to become a jet-fighter pilot and before getting the chance to get into action having to prove yourself in a cadet school... Yes, even that Sophstar brings to the table Pros -» Gameplay: A creative teleport system and secondary weapon gauge piles up to a meaningful choice of ships! -» Soundtrack and sound effects: sweet sound effects and voice files from points boxes, bonus and extra lives -» Graphics: I like the size ratio between our ship and the battlefield. They have hit full marks on that front -» Bosses: Reminds me of Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters style with mechanics that range from standard shmups to bullet hell -» Replayability: the best on the market! 9 ships and 6 game modes are a feast to admire -» Difficulty: scales from a walk in the park to running in a desert. Just choose your suitable exercise -» Bullet style: classic 90's Cons -» Game was not available during my teenage years SUMMARY: Excellent risk-reward idea, where point blank shooting enables a higher score bonus chance. When you think about all Sophstar has to offer... it is basically like buying an indie game on its case, arriving at home and realizing the shop employee left a forgotten extra AAA title on the box. 9/10 gaming scale Disclosure: After clearing the main campaign and, as I comeback for new sessions or new updates arise by developers, I intend to keep revising this review
Shmup Junkie recommended this on his YouTube channel for those who like an easy to learn shooter. But there's lots of difficulty levels for everyone. Even on "Child" difficulty you still have to pay attention as stray bullets will get you. It's not a very exciting game but the controls are tight and do exactly what you want.
Nota 8.5/10.
Best Shmup I've played this year.
An excellent indie shmup with loads of difficulties available, bonus modes, and 9(!) different ships to pick from. Heaps to do here and lots of fun.
Game do estilo "coloque o cartucho, dê start e jogue". Recomendo!
One of the best Shmups I've played in a long time. It has one of the best rosters of playable characters I have seen in a shmup, they all feel different and add a unique game play experience. Game play is fast and kinetic but fair. When you are locked in and it clicks the combat is insanely satisfying.
Solid vertical STG with a nice pixel art presentation.
This game is great and already well worth the money with all the levels and game types and several ships to go along with it. The game has a great amount of variety but i can only get halfway on arcade mode at this time(4th boss). There is a definite learning curve but if you're having fun that shouldn't matter. For a game this cheap especially on sale I highly recommend it, if you're a classic shootemup lover then look no further then this game.
