Jewel Match Solitaire Winterscapes 2 - Collector's Edition is a solitaire card game developed by Suricate Software and published by Grey Alien Games. Since no story is present here, I'll jump straight into the gameplay. When you start up the game, you can choose from among the usual 3 difficulty levels: relaxed, normal, or timed. (For review purposes, I chose to play on normal mode.) You're then taken to a map layout that consists of 200 levels, with an additional 200 levels available afterwards since this is a collector's edition. In each level, you have to clear the board of cards, using your deck, any power-ups that are available, and wild cards and/or jokers. Coins, which can be used to purchase power-ups and their respective upgrades in the store, and emeralds, which can be used to construct building parts for the backgrounds, are present. Depending on how well you clear the board, you can earn up to 3 stars per level. As you progress through levels, mini-games, such as mahjong solitaire, match-2, and quests, are unlocked on the map. However, these mini-games are accessible in the main menu, too. Of course, there are plenty of Steam achievements/in-game trophies as well although they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "profile features limited". Now that I've gone over the gameplay, I'll move onto my thoughts. It has been quite a while since I last played a solitaire game, and feeling in the mood to do so, I decided to give this one a go. Having played quite a few of these solitaire games, I didn't encounter too many new additions here. I noticed a few new solitaire variants in the mini-games section, which is always a nice feature to have to add some gameplay variety. Also, I believe that a new mini-game where you have to clear the cards from left to right (called sliding levels) is available. As for the usual levels, I didn't have trouble clearing them and earning 3 stars although purchasing power-ups helps. In regards to achievements, I was able to obtain all of them. However, I do have a bit of a gripe with one, and yup, it's the one for earning 50K gold. This is the first time I've seen such an achievement in these solitaire games, and I have to say that I found it very grindy to obtain, which is why my total playtime is way longer than it should be. Even after obtaining all of the other achievements (and I made it a point to purchase only the power-ups for adding more cards to my deck and finding more gold in levels), I was still short 10K gold. Thus, I had to play a lot of mini-games before I was finally able to obtain this achievement. I would highly suggest not having this achievement in future installments, as I found myself getting burned out from grinding for gold. :o However, with the art, it is beautiful as always. Since the theme is winter and Christmas, the backgrounds reflect that. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3187727896 Also, the selections of card designs and such are present in this game, which I like having. In addition, I noticed that you can choose the color of emeralds, so yes, although the default color is green, you can choose to change the color to blue, which is what I did. XD Regarding the music, the tracks are all Christmas and winter-themed as well, so they feel very relaxing to listen to as you progress through levels and play through any mini-games. Of course, you can choose to mute the music if you'd rather use other music, but I enjoyed listening to the tracks in this game. They give off that feeling of the holidays, joy, and the promise of hope. Overall, would I recommend Jewel Match Solitaire Winterscapes 2 - Collector's Edition? If you like solitaire card games and don't mind the grindy aspect (yes, I'm still glaring at that 50K gold achievement lol), then it's worth taking a look. At the time that I'm writing this review, spring is just around the corner, and this game is good to play, regardless of the time of year. At the asking price, I think it's worth getting, as there's plenty of gameplay. However, you can always wait to get it on sale. Finally, I want to give a major thank you to Grey Alien Games for the review key. It took me a while to complete the game, but there's a personal sense of accomplishment in doing so, and I'll always enjoy these lovely solitaire games. ^^
For more detailed, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
Sure, a nice game!
Very beautiful card game from the Suricatas, with brand new card back designs and chosable gem colours and enjoyable Christmas themed music tracks. The background and design of the bonus games did not change so they still improvable, but all in all this is a very great, relaxing game for the winter holiday. It is working well, it did not crash so far but... one thing... I had thought that forest fairies are not appear in Christmas time in the town... Or... am l missed something?
i have 45 games in my Steam solitaire game collection. +1/-1 solitaire games are one of my favorite ways to chill out. of those 45 games, Winterscapes 2 is by far the best. the visuals and audio are perfect, there is a TON of content to play through, and there are multiple innovations that are very enjoyable. the super-size levels, quests, challenge levels, sliding levels, and match-2 variants are an excellent addition to this game. if you enjoy +1/-1 solitaire, this game is the king. i hope we get more like this in the future. i usually wait for these kinds of games to go on sale for less than $5, as the playtime is so short. but this one is easily worth the full price. there is a lot of content here.
There is no match to Jewel Match. Once you click on the cards of Jewel Match Solitaire, you will conclude that all other card games out there are primitive, left behind in evolution or facing extinction!
Very good and entertaining Solitaire game. Challenging rounds and lots of mini games to play. 10/10.
imo. if you like this series, best so far.
