Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 20 → 0.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Island Off Outer Darkness follows the narrative of the Postman, a resident Postal Worker new to a small fishing village in Antarctic waters off the coast of a volcano (the titular Outer Darkness). They start new to the job, and must deliver packages to residents day-by-day, week-by-week. As they learn more about the island and its townsfolk, aberrations in space begin to appear. More broadly, Island Off Outer Darkness is an exploration of the grief of community collapse and personal withering. Featuring a 31-track OST by CalamityRhapsody and visual artistic work by several people, Island Off Outer Darkness is the story of this town, and these people.

Surprising and delightful throughout. Island off Outer Darkness' comes off simplistically initially, but there is a depth of writing, place, and characterization here that games many times its scale lack. It wears its Morrowind and Nier inspirations on its sleeve, but there is lot of Pathologic and Disco Elysium here too. The game sells its characters and setting exceptionally well, and the soundtrack pulls everything together. A deeply personal game with a lot of difficult thoughts and topics. I will be thinking about this one for a long time.
Island Off Outer Darkness was a surprise, a delight, and a moving experience. The writing is clever, with careful attention to the intersection of identity, politics, and personality, the sense of atmosphere (aided by an excellent soundtrack) is extremely evocative, and the worldbuilding in particular was brilliantly exposited. There were several times where something I truly didn't expect took place, and I had fun the whole way through. There are occasional bugs (I had to restart a bunch of days because I got stuck on geometry - I don't think there's a "unstick me" button, or at least I don't know what it is), and without spoiling anything, I would have preferred less influence of a specific source material, but overall I think the game was fantastically done and I'm excited to follow Zugerujk's work and see what comes next. I wish more games like this were being made. I'd even take one half this good.

Holy hell is this good. Planned to just play for an hour or so tonight but had to pull myself away after four hours. The music is incredible and pairs perfectly with the visuals to create a very potent atmosphere while delivering packages. The writing for the varied cast of characters is excellent and really makes you want to get to know all of them. There's also some very cool surprises, movement tech, and farming and fishing, what else could you need?
Postman life on an isolated island in the far south neighboring outer darkness, delivering mail day by day to lots of variably cagey people, some more unpleasant than others. everyone feels very grounded and real and eventually has a lot to say, the detail of the world and how its is conveyed to you is very clever. fun little minigames. overall great writing, decent music, clever use of its limited visual style. I enjoy a lot of things inspiring this (as listed in-game) and I can see how they come through but this is still very much doing something unique and doing it well.
