I can't believe how much this game is slept on. The vibes are immaculate if you enjoy spy thrillers. I've found the gameplay loop to be quite cathartic in our current times.
To boil things down, Is the President a Traitor is a fairly solid resource management game wrapped up in a narrative of Treason, spycraft, corruption and intrigue. Diving into it, it took a bit of time (and a lot of failures) to wrap my head around how the resources correlated and played with each other, but once I did I was able to successfully discover the foreign agents, co-conspirators and get enough vote to trigger an Impeachment of the president. The impeachment itself wasn't successful, but it was fun getting there. Cosmetically, everything is random. Genders and names are made up, but there will always be a set amount of foreign agents and co-conspirators for you to find and leverage for intel to impeach. There is no political leaning here to imply that current or past administrations are who the game is based on, just that all of the actions in the game HAVE occurred at some point in the past. As other reviews have said, the music can be a little repetitive at times, but can be muted if it isn't to your liking. Overall a fun game, and a good first entry for a budding studio.
I think as another said this is really a smoking man sim, the guy from X files. The game play is more on the spreadsheet sim side of things and the interface is fairly simple, but it adds to the atmosphere of being a desk jockey trying to solve a crime thriller. It can be rather tense managing your resources to keep the county from going under while also trying to keep the case open. It's got some good tension. It's got some bugs and tiny bit of jankiness but it's great for short 5 to maybe 6 hour game.
This game will make you feel more like an office clerk of the 90s than a special agent of the 2020s. Too much small text. Hurts eyes. Otherwise, it's a fairly standard resource management strategy rushed into Trump conspiracy narratives.
I was expecting alot more from this game. The music is what broke it for me to be honest, and with no way to escape out to settings to turn it off or down i just closed the game down and will never open it again. RIP to my $3, don't let them get your $3 too.
