About

While Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison earned her codename defusing bombs for the Global Defense Force, when evil transhumanist mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes the members of his cybernetic cult onto the streets of Neo D.C., she knows it's time to start causing explosions instead of preventing them.
Her quest to slay Heskel leaves a trail of carnage throughout huge, multi-path levels filled with gigantic explosions, more secret areas than we can count, and inhuman foes behind every corner. There's no regenerating health here; stop taking cover and start running and gunning.
Shelly's crusade to take down Heskel's army will see her leave destruction in her wake with a wide arsenal of weapons, complete with alternate fire modes and different ammo types. Her signature revolver, the tri-barreled Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with both single shots and Old West-style hammer fanning action. Who needs a regular shotgun when you can load buckshot into your grenade launcher? Violent, over-the-top Bowling Bombs rip enemies apart with ease.
Ion Fury laughs at the idea of mandatory checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But, just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn't mean we've ignored all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and auto saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint have taken the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.

A fun throwback FPS with really tight design and that pushes the build engine to its limits, it's amazing to see what they managed to do with it. A bit too long though.
idk man, if you get the game on sale its more than worth it. I got it forever ago and just now finally getting around to finishing it (the backlog of games is crazy with us Steam users). Its a great fun time if youre into the "retro" style games of the Duke Nukem 3D era and similar "boomer shooters". I think its a fun game but your mileage may vary.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's fine, though I haven't found it as notable as other build engine games. Probably just a matter of preference.
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5) A passionate love letter to the Build Engine. The first four zones of the game are the most polished map designs in the Build Engine, bar none. It’s not only the incredible attention to detail in the environments, but the sheer scale of these, along with the hundreds upon hundreds of smartly positioned enemies that always keep you on your toes. Every gun is viable, and the ammo starve will keep you cycling through them. Gunplay is fast paced and right at home among all the '90s top dogs. Worth at full price.
Ion Fury was my most anticipated game for 2019 and it did not disappoint. Every gun feels awesome, every enemy was a blast to fight, the levels are large and expansive and filled with secrets and I still quote Shelly's one-liners to do this. I think Ion Fury is one of the best boomer shooters on the market.
Ion Fury is a first-person shooter, in the vein of Duke Nukem 3D or Doom. It's even built on an engine from that era. There's a lot to like here. It's certainly better than most games that come out these days: the main character is punchy and enjoyable to listen to, the visuals are colorful & inviting, and the environment is interesting and detailed. There's also some weaknesses: the enemies don't have a ton of variety, the weapons don't play against enemy strengths & weaknesses, and the antagonist is forgettable. This game did come out at a point when retro shooters were still a novel thing though. In that particular zeitgeist, it earned it's place. However, now there's a lot more offerings on the market that do more interesting things with the core gameplay. If you're looking for something to fill your time, this will certainly do but if you're an enthusiast, maybe try some of the other offerings on the market.
I recommend this game. I've played it several times because I've enjoyed it so much. I don't usually replay games. It feels good to play it, the music and sound effects are good. The game visually looks nice, you can run it up to (300 fps) and high resolution (up to 4k) from my experience. The tools you have to eliminate enemies is satisfactory, there is a wide variety of weapons with different effects. Even your basic stun baton can eliminate difficult enemies. Enemy variety is good. Map design is good, and is better polished in the included free Arrange Mode. There are tons of secret areas to find to satisfy most players. The difficulties in this game are also rewarding for all kinds of players. The game plays like an old school high quality game with a lower bar for entry for the modern player.
Wow, what a game! The level design is among the best I've seen in a long time. However, the middle chapters drag a bit, and I wish they had introduced more weapon and enemy types. The later chapters start handing out more ammo and makes the guns more fun. You'll definitely want to quick-save after each encounter, because if you don't take enemies down fast enough, they will make you pay. It was so close to perfection, but those few issues held it back. Regardless, highly recommend. 4/5
Great throwback to Duke Nukem 3D-style boomer shooters. I haven't played the DLC yet, but the base game is a load of fun. I'm amazed at how good the environments look even by modern standards, considering it's built on eDuke32.
