About
Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling shelter survival game that tasks you with guiding a desperate group of zombie apocalypse survivors to safety. Craft weapons, scavenge resources, balance your group’s needs, and try to get everyone out of danger alive.
Texas, 1980. Walton City is a sprawling, coastal metropolis in the grip of a scorching heatwave and crippling economic crisis. Everything changes when an unstoppable zombie outbreak reaches US shores. Walton City is soon overrun by hordes of the undead, the few remaining survivors cut off from any chance of outside help. Forced to band together, these everyday people must chase their only chance of survival by escaping the city.

Gather a group of ordinary people who have been left shaken by the sudden zombie outbreak that has devastated their city.
Establish upgradable shelters to house your survivors and protect them from the zombie threat — but remember that no barriers can keep them out forever.
Keep moving from refuge to refuge to stay one step ahead of the encroaching zombie hordes. Every night, your barricades will be under their relentless attack. And if they break through, your survivors will pay the price.
Balance the physical needs of the group, like Hunger or Exhaustion, as well as psychological needs like Despair. Heal survivors from injuries like Broken Ribs and try to manage traumas like Nightmares.

Creep through the remains of Walton City to scavenge precious resources, risking the life of each survivor as they encounter both zombie and human threats. Stealth is key to survival.
Choose whether to run from a fight or engage in brutal combat with whatever weapons you can find or craft. Not everyone is a natural fighter, but desperate people will do anything to survive.
Convince others to join your group or cut them down and claim their resources as your own.

Test your humanity as you make tough decisions on who will live, who will die, and who will be left behind.
Inhabit the rich and atmospheric cityscape of Walton City, the once-bustling metropolis now an eerie ruin swarming with zombies.
Craft tools, weapons, and shelter upgrades to better equip your survivors for the struggles ahead, or give them a moment of comfort and familiarity in their dangerous new world.
Encounter a varying world which makes sure that every playthrough is a new experience.

Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days is a good game with a great upside for its future. The vision is there and with some major and minor tweaks it'll be one of the best zombie games around. One of those major tweaks needed is to the combat. there's dependently a lvl of jank and input delay that's present at times. With there was more intuitiveness to the dodging and striking as well. The things this game has going for it is the environments, sound, and the replayability to name a few. With improved combat and more of the same in most other areas we'll have a heck of a game on our hands. Looking forward to what the team turns this into.

Really enjoyed playing Into the Dead! I have done a single run-through so far with save scumming to see 3 potential endings. I didn't run into any traders on my first game sadly. I would like to see safe houses have a population notice/cap in future.
bricks are the best weapon of all time i love bricks
good
Phenomenal game that makes you actually care for your survivors. I do wish their was more survivors, but the map is great and poi's are very good. The missions are good and the story makes sense, Can't wait to see what the 1.0 release will be like.
While I am giving this a Thumgs Up, and I genuinely enjoy parts of it, I'd also advise caution to new players as the game does have it's quirks that to some may be very frustrating and downright "problematic". The game has a very steep difficulty curve if you play it as it is intended. Weapons will be rather rare unless you already know some of the games locations and which to prioritize early. Some survivors are also downright useless in terms of the perks they provide whereas others are really good. Combad too definitely requires getting used to but once you get a hang of it, learn to prioritize your stealth and scout approach, it is actually rather easy to deal with. Special Zombies can definitely make it a challenge tho (RIOT zombies for example are just health sponges, but grenades take easy care of them, if you don't have any, try to bait and avoid). Initially, weapons very low durability certainly will prove a challenge for new players though. So will food scarcity until you learn which buildings to prioritize. There are also events that take place, such as increasing world difficulty after a while, a permanent water outage (meaning you better have a lot of bottle water ready, as you will need it for cooking), and others. There are also still some quirks with combat sometimes feeling janky or unresponsive on dodge windows, and certainly executions making you really vulnerable to attacks, as you receive now immunity during an execution, most weapons make a lot of noise, some having really long execution animations, and you can not cancel it. But the devs have improved A LOT, have also listened, and provide options for feedback, which they seem to respond to every now and then (once collected). It is still rough around the edges but it is a gem, and in some ways similar to This War of Mine. Kind of about as punishing, just in very different ways. So if you are looking for a more fun and relaxed zombie survival game, this is not really it, altho the devs following popular request have added options to manually alter difficulties (likelihood for deep infected wounds, hunger drain rate, sleep drain rate, etc etc), if you want to build a single base, this is not your game. You will have to move eventually due to zombies besieging your base and becoming more ferocious, and because locations can only be looted within a certain range of your home base, and that range can not be extended. so eventually you gotta move on (unless you cheat). Good game, but not everybodies basket.
