I really wanted to like this game, but unfortunately there are serious flaws that sap the enjoyment. It might be unfair to compare it to FTL, but it's always going to be. Even moreso than other rouglikes, luck/RNG is a huge factor. One unlucky enemy setup on a single turn can and will ruin an entire run which, up that point, had been going well. Having a very finite number of mechs limits your ability to handle threats too much. Of course, you need some limits but it's too restrictive. The store where you spend reputation is very constraining - you can't carry over any corporate rep to the next island. This can force you to waste resources you otherwise wouldn't have spent. This game just doesn't have the balance FTL does. In FTL, if you're competent you can go far, even with ♥♥♥♥ luck. The shop is more flexible and there's an option to retreat from fights outside of select instances. Resource management has more depth and there's better long-term planning mechanics. The story and lore of FTL is also far more engaging. I just didn't really care about the world of Into the Breach as it's very surface-level.

An very good little strategy game with a surprisingly amount of depth hidden behind its simple presentation. The different squads and mech combinations offer plenty of ways to approach each run, while the short games make it easy to jump back in another attempt. Horewer, the experience can become repetitive fairly quickly. 100% Completion Time : 73.9H Completion Difficulty : 6/10 Playthroughs : 10 + Missables : None Notable requirements : Beat the game on hard, win with all 10 primary squads, various squad-specific challenges.
