Игры же должны лечить от депрессии, а не вгонять в неё...
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2376374261
An interesting and touching psychological story with you playing as John... a man who has entered the mind of Luke Williams in an attempt to save him during a personal crisis. The art, music, and voice acting are well done. For the most part, the game is a black and white side scroller with strategically placed touches of color. There are several platforming sequences with one at the end that took me quite a few tries to get through. There are some puzzle elements (turning on equipment, advancing time, etc.). The story is told through flashbacks and dialog, with scenes flipping between time lines which can be a bit confusing. There is A LOT of dialog which you really have to absorb to make the story fit together. The game does not have a contrast/brightness setting and I have my monitor turned up as far as it will go. However, there were scenes that were so dark (as in the absence of light) that I struggled to see the character. I watched a walkthrough and other players may not have this experience. For the most part, achievements are earned as the story advances. You do have to be very aware of your surroundings to achieve 100% (which is awarded by Chapter 8, well ahead of the game's ending). I recommend this to those who enjoy an emotional story with a bit of running and jumping.
Run & Believe ♥
Into A Dream ooh boy. where to begin... this is quite possibly one of the best indie games I've played, period. the graphics are stunning. occasionally I did find myself just enjoying the scenery. and while there were some moments where the graphics made it kinda tricky to exactly know what I was looking at, these moments were mostly not important to the gameplay. just sometimes the bright sections being too bright and the dark sections being too dark. I'd say a nice 7/10 Then the score. damn this game's music is PHENOMENAL. It does an amazing job at setting the mood for the scene, the transitions seem very fluid. one section even had the song "silent night" incorporated into it. straight up 10/10, if not 11/10. the controlls were the only real downside. I occasionally got hindered because climbing up to stuff felt really awkward. I would complain about pulling/pushing/interacting being on C (not ideal placement with wasd movement), but seeing how you can also use arrow keys, it's not really an issue. the jumping also felt a bit delayed, which hindered some of the parkour sections quite a bit (especially in the end section, but I'll return to that one in a minute, as it wasnt all bad). so overall it was fine, but a bit awkward and clunky. didn't hinder the game too much, luckily enough. 5/10 as of the core gameplay. it's a 2d walking sim for the most part, with the occasional puzzle thrown in and some minor parkour sections. a minor issue here, is that it wasn't always clear what I was supposed to do/interact with. but besides that, all the puzzles were well designed. there occasionally was a puzzleI struggled with, but most of them were a case of me just being dumb (like the puzzle to thaw out the reactor pipe). would have loved to see a bit more puzzles actually related to the story (like the Rita and Annie puzzles at the end or the entire wedding level), instead of just "you need to solve this to progress" puzzles (like the lighthouse section). but besides that, core gameplay was really solid and enjoyable. 8/10 now to the story. SO SPOILER WARNING. okay so, the base story is simple enough to follow. it unfolds in a nice way and the fact that it isn't actually in chronological order makes it push you more to actually think. The fact that all is inside someone's mind also makes you wonder what's real and what's not (like how it turned out the wedding was not real, but just Luke's hope). but on a deeper level, the symbolisms in the game are so great. The waterfall, the lighthouses (and thus Rita's book), the doll representing the decease (as it got passed down from generation to generation), reoccuring things (like with the bench near the waterfall. first Rita said "convenient bench, isn't it?" and later on grandma said the exact same thing.) talking about that, the entire waterfall scene was SO well written. from the cycle of rain, to Rita saying "we chose that stone for grandma to rest on" and then Annie also sitting on it besides grandma, symbolizing the end that will be unavoidable. The story also made me cry a bit on multiple occasions. and then we have the ending. which, like I said before, was a bit messed up due to the controlls. so not only are you fighting against yourself (if you're bad at parkour to begin with) and the game, you're also fighting against the controlls. and while the controlls were a negative... I think that, in this one section, it actually strengthens the game's narritive. fighting against yourself is purely on you; it is all about overcoming your own mind and skill. fighting against the game is completely out of your controll; you can't do anything against it and you just have to overcome the struggle. fightin the controlls, however, is something you can't controll, but can adept to; it symbolizes the growth you'll have to do to get to know how to move forward. I do feel, however, that the end felt a bit too rushed. It would have done the game and naritive some good, if it were to extend the game by like 30 minutes to focus more on the actual struggle of fighting the bad. as right now, it felt like "oh hey remember this good thing? yup, depression lessend" instead of actually overcoming said issues and, above all, ACCEPTING it. this is an issue I had throughout the entire story. it kept focussing on fighting (either fighting yourself or what happend to you), but never really payed much attention to just acceptance. not untill the near end, at least, where acceptance seemed to be the issue. Luke accepting what he did seemed to made him more depressed, almost. and lastly, I feel like certain sub-plots were started, but went nowhere. While I said the lighthouses and thus Rita's book were great symbolism... the story arc of Rita as a writer got build up a little bit, just to lead to this symbolism. and other than her wanting to write, we never really learn much about her. It was clear to me pretty early on, that the story had 2 main characters: Luke and Annie. and while the story did a great job building these 2 characters (and a minor mention here for micheal), the rest of the cast... mostly just existed. while it isn't a major issue, I would have liked to see some more focus on the side-characters and specifically their bond and impact on Luke (and Annie). but to end on a good note again. I do feel like the story showed exactly what I wanted and needed to show and it did so in a REALLY good way. the symbolisms, the mood (like how the screen sometimes went a bit darker when there was sad dialogue), the interactions, the base writing. It all was done SO WELL and I absolutely LOVED it. story gets a solid 9.5 from me. so overall, this game was a solid 8.5 to me. definately a game worth your time and money.
Interesting story-rich adventure game. Serious subject matter, walking through another person's dreams, to try to help them with overwhelming mental health issues. Music is quite good, and I love the art style and graphics. Very well done. The story wanders a bit, and the ending feels a bit too abrupt and a little uneven, but... you are in someone else's dreams, someone who is struggling with overwhelming depression and self-blame. Very well done for a single dev created game. My only issues were (1st) thinking the controller support was broken leaving me with keyboard controls only (Turned out my controller was loose in the USB port), and some sluggish controls/input lag on both controller and keyboard. Not terrible for most of the game, but toward the end during a fast platforming section, and a section where you need to run and jump while fighting against wind- yea. That was a pain for me with my arthritic hands. The game will restart you at the beginning of these areas if you fail (no penalty for dying), but having to replay each section a number of times because input did not seem to register was a wee bit annoying. Other than that- the game is quite an emotional experience, if you have any empathy at all, IMHO. I found it well worth the price. Explore, explore, explore. Go left and right, wait for scenes to play out. There are a few achievements that are easily missed if you don't. You have 3 save slots, so make saves in slot 2 and 3 at the beginning and middle of the game, so you can load them and not have to play all the way through again, if you miss those achievements. Stick around and watch the fireworks.
A side-scrolling, story-bound game that's pretty awesome when you consider it's from a single dev. Pros: * Gorgeous music. * Good reimagining of the "confused narrator" storytelling style. * Levels are suitably dream-crazed. * Decently original story - ending seemed a little inconsistent to me, but not badly so. Cons: * Some mystery meat w/ choices, but... * Choices don't seem to matter much, aside from some flavor text. (I haven't done any "bad" actions though, so maybe I'm wrong) Meh: * Animation of the main character's legs is a bit janky, especially when climbing/falling. TL;DR: Considering it's from a single dev, if you like story-driven games, 7.5; else, avoid.
Really beautiful graphics that create a unique atmosphere. That is completed by a really well done music. Story was interesting and the length was OK as any longer and it might have become boring. Played with Xbox controller and it worked nicely, at times the movement was a bit laggy. All in all a enjoyable game for couple of night.
