Perhaps this is because Ive been playing the likes of the absolutely fantastic Hade, but I cant really recommend this. With the exception of a couple of the last levels the design is trivial to solve, there isnt much in the way of mechanics, the music is... quite bad. (Though in its plinky plonky way it did make me chuckle sometimes.) the controls are just odd for a desktop computer, I completed it in under an hour while putting very little thought or attention in. It reminded me of the game projects we did in university as an introduction, or experimentation area, and it doesnt really go any further than that. The aesthetic is quite nice, there is definitely some potential to become a decent budget game with some smarter levels and some playing around with more tile based mechanics, but as it is, even for its low cost it doesnt hold up compared to a lot of the great little budget indie games you can grab.
Bought the game on sale for roughly $0.66 ... Took me 67 minutes to 100% ... Better than $0.01 per minute of gameplay. 10/10 would classify as worth.
overall very good. can recommend it.
It's one of those puzzle games where you have to make it to the exit and make sure you touch each square the correct number of times to open the exit. Plenty of mini puzzles in RPG's like it and probably plenty of other puzzle games like this to an extent out there. There's 50 levels so $2 seems fair. So far it doesn't seem to hard, however keep in mind that there is no keyboard support so you will have to be clicking, unfortunately.
I enjoyed the puzzles in Isotiles, but they weren't super challeging, and the game felt a bit cheap (in terms of production) with some poor design decisions. The puzzles require you to eliminate all the tiles, with only being able to pass through a given tile a set amount of times - usually 1. It also employs a few other mechanics such as locks & keys, moving tiles, and arrow tiles, to make all of the levels feel interesting. The controls felt really nice in that you could hold down the keys and make sudden stops and the character would move as you intended. The music wasn't suberb, but it also wasn't annoying. It was just there and was strangely catchy for such a short loop. The windowblind effect displayed anytime you change screens or reset a level is awful. You see it a lot, and it just feels like something that'd be put in someone's powerpoint who'd just discovered the animations. In addition, having this type of game with an isometric view is a poor decision, as it complicates the mental mapping between the controls (arrow keys) and the movement (diagonal). Just looking at the menu screen gives (pictured below) give you a pretty good indication as to how little to expect from this game in terms of visual polish. It does what it needs to do in terms of menus and controls, but nothing more (it wasn't missing anything, and I didn't have any issues with it, I'll give it that). No part of the game's execution was memorable, simply functional. The underlying puzzles here are quite good, and fun, but the execution is very basic. A little under an hour of gameplay for me, but worth the price for the puzzles, especially if on sale. Isotiles - Isometric Puzzle Game is a tiles puzzle game. The goal of the game is walk on every tiles a set amount of times, making it to the end goal with all turns turned red. The game features moving platforms, keys/lock, multiple numbered tiles, one-directional blocks and so on. The gameplay is fluid and the game is fun as far as those type of puzzle games goes. The music was a rather annoying looped track and the graphics are very simple, but at this price point it's expected. All in all the game has 50 levels promising a solid hour or more of challenges to keep you busy. Overall, at a little over a dollar I'd say it's worth it for an 1 hour or longer puzzle game.
