Still fun! runs great on every device
Some of the best CQC seen in a video game
Insurgency is a very unique tactical shooter that successfully combines realism and fun. At first glance, it may look like a typical FPS with standard modes and teams, but in reality it feels completely different from most modern shooters. The gunplay is one of the strongest parts of the game. Weapons feel powerful and realistic, and even a single mistake can get you killed. There are no crosshairs, minimaps, or hit markers, which makes every encounter more intense and forces you to rely on your awareness and teamwork. Another great feature is the spawn wave system. It encourages players to stay alive and play objectives instead of rushing without thinking. This creates a more tactical and team-focused experience. The sound design also deserves special mention. Gunshots are loud and impactful, and the overall audio helps you understand what is happening around you, which is very important in this type of game. However, the game is not perfect. The learning curve can be quite steep, especially for players who are used to casual shooters. Some maps can feel a bit restrictive, and dying very quickly might be frustrating at times. Overall, Insurgency is not the most realistic simulator, but it is one of the most enjoyable tactical shooters available. It rewards smart play, communication, and patience, making it a great choice for players who want a more serious FPS experience.
the realism is excellent. the gameplay is exciting and tactical, and the voice acting is great. This ain't no Call of Duty for sure. My only wish is that there were more players these days, but its ok. I'll play till it dies. The devs put so much work into this excellent game and it shows. replayable again and again
Insurgency sat in the back of my steam library for the better part of about a decade and to say I regret that would be a severe disservice to the experiences that I'd had while the hands of time itself ceaselessly tested the gameplay for me. Cresting into my 140th hour in the last year, I've grown weary that this game will come to pass. In its passing, there will be something lost that neither Sandstorm, CS, nor COD could or will ever grasp. Explosives being explosive has been stripped away from this genre in favor of coddling repetition thus I think this is where Insurgency Classic excelled. It's a 3 lane shooter, no? So, long positions need either eyes or bombs. No bomb meant the other team could advantage the high risk angles, punishing the absent or unskilled demo. Additionally, with only one US server being populated, it's a must. It's almost always full, giving matches perhaps a sullen sense of exclusivity. Not to mention the familiar names who've dedicated themselves to intuit every position and angle of the maps, denying every naïve advance as if this game were a bureaucrat's wet dream and not a FPS pastiche of the gulf war. From here, I don't have much more to say. Firefights can be enthralling with the factors of bullet pen, low ttk, and high respawn timers. Expecting 32-64 frag grenades and two RPGS to every round opening is literally deafening. Heights never got enough time in rotation for me to appreciate it. Tell > Revolt. C on Contact is just a death funnel. CT D on Market being ass is what makes holding C interesting. I dunno man, unless I die first, I can't shake the sense that a piece of me will go with this game so, thank you New World Interactive.
