Reviews
I was fortunate to receive a free copy of this game for my honest review. I am not a fan of platformers. Frankly, I struggle greatly with them. Indigo's Dreams was a trip and a half. The immersive mixed media approach to convey different dimensions was a unique and well thought out avenue that I do not believe has ever been explored with such finesse. You can feel the care and compassion that has gone into creating this world; I truly cannot thank the creators enough for throwing in elements of inclusivity that most game devs leave until late development (screen shake, acknowledging human rights, and providing a message of self confidence). They are all thoughtfully executed. One negative I do have, which I assume will come with a patch, is that media must be adjusted with the windows sound bar. Though, that is easy enough for most to sort out on their own. I never would have guessed this to be a first game dev project from how thorough and methodical it felt before final release. I semi sped through some parts as best I could due to time constraints, but this game is easily 4 hours of entertainment. If you like platformers with boss battles, psychological spirals, and quirky characters, this game will welcome you with open claymation arms. Kudos to you, Violet, Josh, and Lauren. Well done.
The focus on horizontal movement over vertical took a bit of getting used to but once I did the flow state was really nice. A bit pricey for the short length, but I love playing passionate games made by small teams of people making bold artistic choices. <3
NOTE: I received this title free from the developer and I personally worked as voice talent for several characters, but I did not allow that to alter my review of the title. ========================================================================================= Indigo's dreams takes a new fresh look at platforming with it's use of multi-styled media ranging from claymation, to puppets, to pixel art! You can expect several levels with various movement based puzzles, interesting characters and cutscenes, and most importantly, COSTUMES. You'll like this game if: - You enjoy platformers - You love to air dash - You're looking for a fresh perspective - You love giant crabs You wont' like this game if: - You hate platformers - You hate fun 10/10 would play again
Recieved a free copy of this game at its launch party event This is a very fun platformer- spikes in difficulty about midway through to the point that reminds me of donkey kong country titles. The visuals are very fun and creative. Overall a great game to just look at and i love that the style changes pretty constantly throughout the game. Recommend it for any fan of platformers
I’m a casual gamer. Mostly play solo sandbox style games. I do play some platformers especially Mario games. They are super nostalgic. Additionally, I have NEVER watched a game stream. In fact, I don’t really understand the point of watching someone else stream a game. Until now. I have watched 2 streams of Indigo’s Dreams so far and loved the experience! The game is a fun play and a fun watch! The backdrops are interesting, the characters are the right kind of weird and the music slaps! I don't know if I will become a platform player now but I do love this game. I bought this game via the creator's kickstarter.
(Kickstarted) Tight fluid platforming makes Indigo's Dreams a joy to control and with the creative use of mixed media the game looks like no other. I enjoyed finding all the hidden collectibles with the assistance of the map and well thought out quick-travel systems. I was able to finish it in 2.5 hours.
Full disclosure this game was made by a member of my family but I will try to be as unbiased as possible for this review. First of all the game is very unique visually with mixed media: collage, pixel art, claymation. There are alot of fun little details and animations for the enemies and main character. My one gripe with the visuals is the parts of the stage that are marked no no that you fall through are hard to see when you are trying to move quickly. The music in the game is also really catchy and the other audio elements are all well done as well. The game is (for me) extremely difficult. I'm not really much of a platformer gamer though. There was a section that I was getting bounced around by the arrows into spikes over and over that made me rage. Fortunately there isn't a life system and there are checkpoints pretty much at every screen so if you are persistent you can eventually get through. I haven't been able to get past the whale boss as of yet. I think if you are into platformer games or speedrunning and want a challenge this is a great game especially for the price. There are alot of medallions to collect and some costumes to unlock and zany characters to meet. There isn't alot of focus on narrative and the game is linear but you can backtrack after a certain point to get collectibles you missed. The game was mostly made by one person but has alot to offer and a great visual style.

A delightful art exhibit of platforming excitement. Inigo's Dreams strikes a chord in those who love indie games due to its ambitious and fun nature. It clashes multiple art medias into chaotic, yet thematic adventure. I find myself often bopping my head to the light colorful sound track, while locking in when the map and platforming gets serious. A wonderful experience indeed.
While I am terrible at platformers, I quite enjoyed Indigo's Dream! Gameplay was great, albeit sometimes frustrating, and the difficulty scaling from level to level seemed fair. Being able to restart from a checkpoint regardless of how many times I died was super clutch and made the game feel more forgiving and inviting. So far, my favorite part has been the art, music and characters. It made me feel somewhat nostalgic for Kirby and the rainbow curse and early art projects I used to make back in the day! I can tell a lot of love and effort went into this game so I hope others find this and enjoy it as much as I did!
