Fantastic story, interesting mechanics. Took me about 3 hours to complete, and get all the achievements, and my absolute favorite part of the entire thing would be the newspaper articles. They're hilarious. I can definitely recommend giving them a read when you're playing the game and seeing if you can catch all the various references. Full disclosure: I am the announcer voice in the game.
Just getting started, already filled with heart. Original story with interesting mechanics. Worthwhile. Edit: Finished. Game brought me to tears. Amazing experience/story & entirely by one developer. This game deserves serious notice, as does the developer. Incredible gem that I hope turns into a popular indie title.
Game had me lock-in so hard, great little experience.
This is a a great game. It is short but has a touching story. The ending can be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but it shows how real life is for a refugee. Dev did a lovely job of showing what life is like for a refugee of war.
This game is pretty nice, relatively simple + good if you like games similar to the Cook, Serve, Delicious! series, however I've had some trouble with a few things: - The retry button is not functioning on days you get less than 5 stars on. - There have been a couple instances with customers in the back (3rd position in line) have an item they order, but the clock for order time does not appear, when handing them the item they requested, it does not function, and they eventually disappear without accepting an item. - The hit boxes/touch points for the buttons are not always the most accurate, grabbing the bottle of olive oil in the beginning of the game sometimes took a few tries for it to activate -I find that the pixel art style is a little bit inconsistent, the tree in the middle right side of the screen is so condensed/blurry, and everything else is clean/clear cut pixels - Can't get past day 28, I get stuck on a screen with the kids sleeping in the bed, but there's no prompt to do anything, no keys work, nor mouse clicking Overall I like the game but wish some things were a little bit more ironed out, I would say it's worth the price if you're interested in games of this genre. Short play time, around 2-3 hours.
This is a beautiful little game telling a personal story of his father fleeing from a war ridden dictatorship in the middle east. The story is told through some really smart but immersive methods like the "broken" english of the protagonist similar to someone who just started learning the language without interrupting the reading flow and a really smart use of newspaper articles. The american citizen test is also represented with 100 possible questions. As a non american I still found them to be easy without having to "study" but it greatly emphasizes the pressure of taking them while having to deal with poverty, your family in danger and just trying to survive. Although the game is presented in a very lighthearted style the grim background sometimes weeps through by sudden disturbing flashbacks or newspaper articles. The gameplay itself is simple but enough to entertain throughout the game. I encountered only one minor bug when a customer did not want to accept the order and the UI misses a exit button to close the game - both does not interrupt the game. Disclaimer: I got a key for free as a gift from the dev but he did neither ask for a review nor anything alike. I do find the pricing a bit high and would find 6,99 to be ideal but I still recommend it at this pricepoint.
I loved the game, it's not very long but it fulfills perfectly with a simple gameplay and a captivating story. It can be passed in an afternoon but it's worth it. Very nice pixel art and beautiful songs. I expected to find a cooking game but I was surprised for good. Recommended <3
