I LOVE THIS GAME!! The story is amazing the character design is so inspiring and I love it so so much!
I bought this game expecting it to be a kind of silly jumpscare-fest that demonizes the mentally ill, but was pleasantly surprised to find an actually sensitive portrayal of the abuse that asylum patients endured in the mid 20th century. It's a very charming game with an interesting story and a cool art style that I feel has been horribly mis-marketed. The best example I can give for the mis-marketing is that the imaginary friend in the bottom center right of the cover image only looks like that on the back of his head. The front of his head is a cutesy easel with a smiley face. I would have played this a lot sooner if I knew there was actual substance and nuance to this game. Perhaps these are backhanded compliments ("I thought your game was gonna suck but it was surprisingly good"), but I sincerely enjoyed my time and recommend this to anyone who can stand the brutal subject matter and jumpscares.
One of the most unique games I've played in a while. The story is honestly really good and anyone who likes linear story games.
love it
My friend bought this for me for my birthday knowing my love of horror, special interest in asylums and personal experience as somebody who hears voices. I am especially so fond of anything that depicts voices / hallucinations in a more positive light, and I love the way that each of the imaginary friends protects their human. The gameplay was a bit lacking at times, but I didn't find that it detracted from the game as a whole. In particular, I loved the way that all of the humans and the universe itself had a very muted colour palette in comparison to the friends who were all these bright vibrant colours. It added a really cool contrast, and I enjoy the way that they all have these creepy appearances but they are protectors at heart. If you're looking for something with complex gameplay, it's probably not going to appeal to you, but if you're a fan of character-driven stories / fun character design I'd definitely recommend.
im not crying, you're crying
I played the demo way back when and became enamored with the story! But I will admit that the tedious sneaking gameplay with the nurses did get annoying, and I put down the game for a while... I just finished it and honestly I wish I had sooner! If you're reading this before buying, please know that the story is well worth it, just hang in there!
im like really hyperfixated on the game and i have been since it came out! then my boyfriend got me it as a gift and it made me so happy!! also i love games that are based on historical things!! i cant wait for the next game!
It's a very fun game to play! I really LOVE the designs, honestly they are so perfect!!! I'd even like to make a sona one day.
It's an interesting game but I honestly have no desire to finish it.
