This game is not very good. It's a single-developer project and I understand the difficulty of making a game, getting it from start to finish and releasing it, it's not easy. That said, the game here is often untested, unpolished and uninspired. The gameplay itself is very rough, you move at a snails pace, solve puzzles (or two puzzles) with an enemy hunting you that you cannot outrun. The puzzles are unintuitive, interactive elements themselves are unintuitive and unclear. If the enemy chases you because they spotted you, you cannot do anything to save it. Once spotted, you cannot hide even if you escape the enemy, they always know where you are until death. Once you solve the first puzzle, you walk for a snails pace for about 5 minutes with nothing happening until your character jumps down a well and has to fight a random psycho in a sewer who is blind, but you are in water and any time you walk, he already knows where you are and can echo-locate to you even from 200 feet away. The way you solve this puzzle is to very very very slowly creep your way past him, hit a lever, then steal a key from his belt and then leave the sewer. Then you crawl into a house, a cutscene plays where you shoot the bad guy, then you walk out to the truck, forget the keys, walk back, then walk back to the truck (I believe this is padding) and then drive away. The end. The story is cliche at best, predictable at worst. Some elements make no sense, like why the main villain stole your clothes, but no one elses clothes. You walk around the whole game in your underwear. Your character themselves has no situational awareness at all, elements are underbaked and not fleshed out. Theres a weird corpse bonfire at the end with what I assume are cultists, but I was being told that the point of the villains actions were cannibalism. He also has a SAW-esque dungeon. Two other things of note. 1: They stole a voice line from half life 2, notably the male screaming "No, no, noooo!" which will resonate with any person who has played Half Life 2 or Garrysmod for any significant amount of time. 2: Theres a shotgun in a police car in the village. I don't know if the developer knows they left it there, but it was quite absurd to think my character would never go get it. This game is pretty much a time waster, it's not scary, not fun and not fulfilling, especially at this price. The only positive I can really give is the voice acting of the main character was pretty good. I hope the developer can learn from their mistakes and make something better in the future.
To fit the indie horror formula, the game opens with a familiar scenario: you crash your car in the middle of nowhere. Armed with only a flashlight, you make your way down a deserted side road, hoping to find someone who can help. Eventually, you reach a house and meet a man named Jonah who seems willing to assist you. Unfortunately, Jonah is a butcher with a disturbing appetite for a very specific kind of meat. The gameplay and overall objective are straightforward: search the area for items, solve a couple of puzzles, a find a way to escape. However, it quickly becomes clear that the game prioritizes atmosphere over smooth progression. Nothing in the environment is clearly marked with visual cues or waypoints. Notes are technically visible, but even they are barely distinguishable from the surroundings. Important objects only reveal themselves when your cursor changes into a hand icon, forcing you to carefully scan and interact with nearly everything. Your walking speed is extremely slow. While this makes sense given that your character has just been in a crash and beaten, it does little to enhance the experience. This becomes particularly frustrating once the butcher begins roaming the jail and you are forced to hide in closets. Although you can hold a key to move slightly faster, since the butcher cannot hear you, it still feels tedious, especially if you are caught. The game does autosave before the butcher appears, but it only records your location. All other progress resets, including collected and used items, meaning you must repeat those steps every time you die. Fortunately, most objectives can be completed before triggering the butcher, which helps reduce some of the repetition. After escaping the house and attempting to return to your car, you are captured again and thrown into a brief sewer section. Here, you must distract a blind enemy with noise in order to steal keys from him. This segment is easier and lasts only a few minutes. Once you escape again, you spend a short time running around the butcher’s house before finally driving away. And then you see the credits without any twist or reveal. The entire experience can be completed in under an hour and ultimately leans toward gore than genuine horror. Considering the high price for such a short and linear game, it offers little value. The developer’s previous title followed a similar concept but was more affordable and, more importantly, significantly better optimized.
I was excited for this game ever since I played the demo. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing—fabulous, even. But the game mechanics are way too difficult. There really needs to be a checkpoint after using the computer code, because it’s insane having to redo everything from the password onward if you fail during the Stealth section. It becomes frustrating instead of scary. I love the atmosphere and visuals, but the difficulty completely kills the vibe. My rating: 5/10
I lent my voice to this developer and did the voice acting for both the main character Murtaza and the villain Jonah, it is my first time doing any voice acting at all so hope people are enjoying it! I thought this game has one of the better atmospheres in an indie horror game! It's why I liked the demo so much. Very strong start that leads into some rather challenging puzzles in terms of how you need to pay attention to your surroundings and use logic to get yourself out of danger, which I like. Some of the puzzle items could be made easier to find with lightsources or other things to direct the player, but once you figure it out and progress it is satisfying. Butchers Village has some great scares, and is chalk full of gory scenes. You definitely get the feeling you are next on the menu. My only wish is the game was longer, I would've liked to see some puzzles and hiding take place inside Jonah's house.
For its price, the game is actually quite good. The concept is nice, especially since slasher-style horro games feel pretty rare these days. While the game isn't very well optimized, I won't let that drag down my overall impression. Considering it was developed by a single developer, it's still an impressive effortand I can definitely recommend it. Just be aware that the puzzles can be quite difficult, so be prepared to spend a good amount of time figuring them out.

"It’s been a long time since I’ve played a game this enjoyable; it truly is a blast. Every player should give this game a try. As for the challenge of escaping the blind man, you really have to be a smart player to pull it off."
