遊戲本身並不差;要命的是,要解鎖劇情、CG,得輸牌?我這麼努力贏牌是為了什麼?而且我還得為了看全劇情拼命輸,這是真的踩到我的雷點。已申請退款。

Teetering between yay and nay on the recommended. Thumbs up only because it is an enjoyable Mahjong game IF you already know how to play Mahjong...which I don't. I recognize that the game serves it purpose and is a good indie version with a story and R18 content (needs an off site patch), but I do wish it had some sort of tutorial to teach newbies how to play Mahjong. Watching YT tutorial videos while playing, still didn't help me to understand Mahjong. Avoid if you don't know how to play Mahjong or have no plans to learn. As far as the story goes, I'm guessing it needs that offsite patch, because there was no story present, it just tosses you right in the game.

Illegal Mahjong is a strikingly unconventional take on a classic tabletop game, reimagined through a dramatic narrative lens and layered with progression systems more commonly associated with RPGs than traditional mahjong simulators. Developed by AleCubicSoft and published by OTAKU Plan, the game frames its tile-based matches around the personal downfall and desperate struggle of its protagonist, Yuri. Once the daughter of a successful family, Yuri finds herself dragged into a spiral of financial ruin when her father’s business collapses, leaving mahjong not as a leisurely pastime but as a last-ditch method of survival. This framing immediately sets the game apart, transforming what could have been a purely mechanical experience into one driven by personal stakes and narrative urgency. At its core, Illegal Mahjong remains grounded in authentic mahjong rules, demanding an understanding of tile combinations, probability, and long-term planning. Matches unfold with a deliberate pace, encouraging players to read the table, anticipate opponents’ hands, and balance aggression with restraint. Where the game diverges from tradition is in its layered progression system, which rewards successful play with points that can be invested into special abilities and advantages. These skills introduce a subtle but meaningful twist to standard mahjong strategy, allowing players to influence the flow of matches in ways that go beyond raw tile luck. As a result, each game feels less like an isolated round and more like a step forward in Yuri’s ongoing struggle. The structure of progression reinforces this sense of continuity. Victories are not merely about winning a single match but about unlocking new opponents, advancing the story, and gradually improving Yuri’s capabilities at the table. This creates a satisfying loop where skill improvement and narrative advancement feed into one another. Players who are already familiar with mahjong will likely appreciate how the game rewards careful play and long-term thinking, while newcomers may initially find the learning curve steep. The game does provide guidance, but it largely expects players to learn by doing, reinforcing the idea that mastery is earned through repetition and failure rather than simplified tutorials. Visually, Illegal Mahjong leans heavily into anime-inspired presentation, blending expressive character art with clean, readable interfaces during gameplay. Story segments are delivered through illustrated scenes and dialogue exchanges that give context to each match, making opponents feel like actual rivals rather than anonymous AI players. The presentation succeeds in making the mahjong table feel like a battleground of wills, where every discarded tile carries emotional weight. Voice acting and sound design further enhance this atmosphere, adding personality to Yuri and reinforcing the tension that accompanies high-stakes matches. One of the more defining aspects of the game is its inclusion of mature and explicit content, which is integrated directly into its identity rather than being treated as an afterthought. This adult material, expanded further through optional DLC, is tied to the game’s themes of desperation, risk, and moral compromise. While this approach will undoubtedly appeal to a specific audience, it also narrows the game’s reach, making it less suitable for players seeking a purely strategic or family-friendly mahjong experience. Importantly, the explicit elements do not replace gameplay depth; instead, they exist alongside a robust mahjong system that still demands genuine strategic understanding. Pacing can be uneven at times, particularly for players more interested in gameplay than story. Narrative segments can occasionally feel lengthy, and the reliance on repeated matches means that progress may slow during more difficult sections. However, for players invested in both the mechanics and the story, this slower rhythm reinforces the sense of struggle and gradual improvement that defines Yuri’s journey. Each hard-earned win feels meaningful, not just mechanically but narratively, as another step away from total collapse. In the end, Illegal Mahjong stands as a niche but memorable title that refuses to treat mahjong as a simple digital board game. By merging traditional rules with narrative ambition, character progression, and bold stylistic choices, it creates an experience that feels both familiar and surprisingly fresh. It is best suited to players who already have an appreciation for mahjong or who are willing to invest time learning its intricacies, as well as those comfortable with its adult themes. For that audience, Illegal Mahjong offers a distinctive blend of strategy and storytelling that lingers long after the last tile is drawn. Rating: 8/10
