HYPERGUN has a lot of ambition. It has a good sense of humor and great music with it being symthwave and retrowave tracks, and but little annoyances and bullet spongy bosses and some enemies, as well as your titular weapon never feeling 'hyper' even in the endgame, keep this game from reaching its full potential. (it doesn't help that the gun sound effects are very weak). Unlike most Rougelites, nothing really changes in subsequent playthroughs. There are no new bosses, stages, or enemy types introduced, and there is no looping function either. every unlock (from items, to characters, to even their own abilities) is held behind Hypercoins, a type of currency that sometimes drops when enemies are killed or 5 guaranteed coins when bosses are defeated. It makes the game feel extremely grindy and there's barely a sense of accomplishment. You just end up dying over and over again grinding for coins until you get enough unlocks where the game starts to drop them semi-commonly, and then proceed to get carried by the absurdly broken elemental damage and effects on the unlockable items that completely shreds enemies (but not bosses since they're immune to elemental properties) I currently cannot recommend the game in its current state, because the devs abandoned it as well as many glitches, bugs, and poor AI/Pathfinding still existing, with some bugs being run enders. It could have been good if the devs just spent a bit more time adding features and fixing the absurd amount of bugs, but alas they moved on quickly. You're better off buying another roguelite or shooter.

I don't like to leave negative reviews for indy games but sadly I can't recommend this one. The game looks great with max graphics setting, the music is great too, the gunplay is ok but the performance of the game just isn't very good. When I can get constant 100fps in a game like Doom Eternal with everything set to Max and this game with everything set to low I had trouble going over 70fps. (mind you I'm playing @ 3440x1440). I wish the dev good luck in their next game.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do mobs and bosses take a lot of shots. Made worse by really dull gun play. Maybe it gets better after unlocks; I don't have the time to find out.
pros -good game cons -my (former) potato pc cant (couldnt) run it at more than 16 frames/year
Excellent Rogue-Like FPS, with unique design/setting. Catchy cool music, and sounds. Fun to play - many different kind of gun parts, lot of silly stuff ( positive ). Was a good trip playing through the whole game. Gunplay is veeery good, and the difficulty is challenging. Grab it! 9.5 / 10
This game is actually underrated, honestly Game is fine, feels like TBOI but with a different apporach This game offer you same mechanics, like:

Pick ups
Usables
Attachments
Shops
Treasure rooms
Characters with their own abilities
Before buying on release, I have red a few reviews and could not really believe them, because most of them were saying, that the game was bad. The issues people were mentioning that the game was, somewhere short, level design is kinda not good, enemies are the same, and that there are chests that need a key, which you dont always have, etc. They have reviewed it like there will no longer be any updates, even tho it just came out, come on ffs I'll try to defend this game, which is not usually welcome, but I dont give a ♥♥♥♥ anyway, so:
I will compare this game to TBOI, because they are similiar somewhat
1) TBOI also have keys and ♥♥♥♥, that dont always drop, especially when you need them, same goes to health, shields, and coins (bits for this game, at least) 2) Level design is O.K, not good but not bad either, you can move around, jump around - thats all you need 3) If you've played TBOI - you sure as hell know that enemies there are also repetitive and annoying at times that they appear again and again and again, theres nothing wrong with that, even tho, I am pretty sure that they will add more enemies in the future, so in the next updates you can complain about that you hate new enemies, so it will go on and on. 4) The game lenght - the game showed me how much time I spent completing each level, and, well it had the same lenght I used to spend when I was going full Isaac run to the chest or dark room. So, cant really say the game is short at all. 5) At last, graphics - they are nice looking, and does not cause any lag, I played with 90+ fps constantly, thats all I need, personally. Some people were mentioning that the game was lagging. I could not find anything like that and I was playing on High+ custom settings and my computer is older than some peoples brains, who were telling that it was not optimized well. I can actually nitpick evey review but thats the things I got quite angry at, when people mentioned them, because they are freaking snowflakes, who need instant 99 keys, 99 bits and cant aim for ♥♥♥♥.
Here comes my problems with the game, so dont worry, angry doggies, I do have them too
1) Bullets do not come thru the surfaces - projectiles do, and thats the most annoying ♥♥♥♥ I have encountered in this game, I do hope its some sort of a bug or unseen thing that will be fixed 2) Each time you get hit the screen gets so blurred, you cant see at all, and thats quite disorienting. Example: you step on a lava while shooting at boss or whatever, your screen shows you that you are hit but you dont understand what hit you, and, while standing in lava, the screen gets more and more distorted, it gets messy, a lot 3) Needs more bosses, they are ok and stuff, but it would be nice if you could have a boss rotation, so there is always something new each time you enter the boss room, dont know if its planned to be 1 same boss for floor or not. 4) Jumping feels more like swimming in air, rather than flying, maybe its just me. I just want more strict collision with ground and walls. I recommend this game, dont listen to the other ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, thanks for attention
