Reviews
Thank you so much for ruining a good game, Gearbox <3
The game is still in very early access, but it is, so far, a very worthy sequel to Hyper Light Drifter. Seeing the amazingly unique world of the Hyper Light franchise beautifully rendered in 3D is a cherry on top of the exciting, smooth, and incredibly fun gameplay. There are kinks to smooth out and elements to be finished, but what is here so far is highly enjoyable, especially for fans of HLD, Roguelikes, and 3D action adventure games.

The game is just not fun, it is very unbalanced. Why do ALL enemies have to hit that hard? Did they really need to copy the Risk of Rain system? How come in this futuristic fantasy world it takes so much for my batteries to charge so i can shoot my laser gun? Why cant they just automatically recharge?? Why do you need this many currency systems? Instead of "infinite open-worlds" with "loot"[currency] why not make a few very well designed maps and have it randomly drop loot chests instead? You're already copying Risk of Rain, just go all the way. Why make different characters that you can unlock if all of them play mostly the same? Wheres the diversity in play-style? Make one of the unlock-able characters the Solar Ash girl and Hyper Light Drifter man. Speaking of that, why not unlock characters as you play the game instead of buying them with currency? You know, like Risk of Rain? What kind of hub world is a run-down street corner? The music is not hitting hard enough. I love the art style!
As others stated in reviews the team had layoffs and are closing/ stopping development on this game. They say that a last update to close the project is planned for January and my guess is that update will be poorly done and lacking plus forcing the remaining people to crunch for it. Possessor imo does not look interesting or good so I guess Heart Machine will die.
Total waste of money. Development has ended, meaning that anyone who buys this is buying an incomplete game which isn't even halfway finished. There are literally missing characters. Game had potential, but because of slow development, poor management, and a frankly ridiculous price for "early access", it failed to live up to the potential it showed even in the trailer. Instead, go spend your money on a game with a company that won't abandon it halfway through due to "developmental issues" and "employee layoffs". This just sounds to me like another Disco Elysium situation, in that you should not support the devs or company by buying it, unless you're desperate. Do not buy it, total waste of money. Enjoyed the time I spent with it, but that was with the expectation that it would actually get completed. Again, unless someone picks up the game in the future, this is a scam until further notice. DO NOT BUY!
Was meh in the EA so far and is now abandoned.
I love drifter, but breaker fell far short and missed many marks that drifter gave. Pains me to write a negative review on something from heart machine, but have to as they over extended their team, fired developers. Saw the signs of what was to come with the delayed release date, a barely playable framerate, and then the content was severely lacking, I'd avoid their future games, I've been bothered about the fate of breaker ever since they were teasing possessors, and it proved to be true that they don't care about finishing projects they put up for sale.
Увы...
game is not optimized, half of my play time was trying to get the game to function. parry window is off, enemies are over tuned, easily soft locked myself within a minute into the first run after tutorial
Had so much potential and was abandoned in less than a year. So many bad decisions.
