House of Necrosis is a retro-inspired horror RPG developed and published by Warkus that successfully merges classic survival horror aesthetics with roguelike dungeon exploration and strategic turn-based combat. Rather than focusing on fast-paced action, the game embraces a slower, more methodical style that emphasizes tension, careful planning, and survival. Its presentation immediately evokes memories of late-1990s horror classics through intentionally low-polygon visuals, fixed camera perspectives, and an unsettling atmosphere, while introducing modern procedural systems that keep every adventure unpredictable. The result is a distinctive blend of nostalgia and replayability that feels both familiar and refreshingly original. The game's biggest strength lies in its procedurally generated mansion, where each expedition offers a different layout filled with monsters, useful items, hidden secrets, and unexpected dangers. Instead of relying on memorized routes, players must adapt to constantly changing environments and make thoughtful decisions about how far to push into the unknown. Every new floor carries the possibility of valuable rewards or devastating encounters, making exploration consistently engaging. This ever-changing structure gives the game strong replay value while maintaining a constant feeling of uncertainty that perfectly complements its horror setting. Combat adopts a turn-based system that rewards patience and tactical thinking rather than quick reflexes. Every encounter requires players to carefully manage their health, equipment, and available resources while considering the risks of each action. Character progression gradually unlocks greater combat potential through leveling and equipment upgrades, creating a satisfying sense of advancement without diminishing the importance of strategy. Even as players become stronger, poor planning can still result in defeat, preserving the game's challenging nature from beginning to end. House of Necrosis also demonstrates a clear appreciation for classic survival horror design through its audiovisual presentation. The deliberately retro graphics, combined with atmospheric lighting and eerie environmental design, create an experience where imagination plays a major role in generating fear. Instead of relying heavily on graphic realism or constant jump scares, the game builds suspense through isolation, uncertainty, and the persistent threat lurking within the mansion. The mature content, which includes stylized violence and gore, fits naturally within the retro aesthetic and enhances the oppressive tone without feeling excessive. Another notable feature is the balance between roguelike mechanics and role-playing progression. Although every run presents randomized challenges, long-term character development encourages repeated attempts while rewarding persistence. The gameplay loop of venturing deeper into dangerous territory, collecting valuable resources, upgrading equipment, and preparing for future expeditions remains consistently satisfying. Fans of Mystery Dungeon-inspired adventures will likely appreciate how seamlessly these mechanics blend with the survival horror framework, creating an experience that feels rewarding whether players are exploring cautiously or taking calculated risks. The game's old-school design philosophy may not appeal to everyone. Players accustomed to modern conveniences or action-heavy horror games may find the slower pace, deliberate movement, and strategic combat less immediately accessible. However, those who appreciate classic PlayStation-era horror titles and methodical RPG systems will likely find these design choices to be among the game's greatest strengths. The commitment to its retro identity never feels like a gimmick, instead serving as the foundation for a cohesive and immersive gameplay experience. Overall, House of Necrosis succeeds in carving out its own niche by combining procedural dungeon crawling, tactical turn-based battles, and authentic retro horror presentation into a compelling package. Warkus has created a game that respects the classics while introducing enough fresh mechanics to stand on its own. Its unpredictable exploration, rewarding progression, strategic combat, and haunting atmosphere come together to deliver an engaging experience that will particularly resonate with fans of survival horror and roguelike RPGs. While its intentionally old-school approach may present a learning curve for some players, those willing to embrace its design will discover a memorable and highly replayable adventure. Rating: 9/10

A pretty fun roguelike in the truest sense of the genre that's easy to pick up and play whenever it strikes your fancy, thanks to its simple but effective game design.
certified hood classic
It's fun until you reach the first ending, after which the more random effects of the ''post-dungeon'' become a hassle to go through, you're much more liable to get one shot by that Necrotic boss who gets surprise buffed by a caster you didn't notice and you lose all your stuff, forcing you to scale back until you get appropriate gear again, which is a chore by that point. In the end I got more than 20 hours worth of fun for less than 10 $ so it's a Yes for me.
Amazing game
