Toxicant is a survival horror game that actually adds fresh and fun elements to the genre. You start out as a solitary cave diver who decided to take a chance exploring a remote cave. There were warning signs telling you it was probably not a good idea, but you entered anyway. You end up at the bottom of the cave structure and in each level you have to find the rope and the exit to climb out and reach the next level in the cave system. The end goal is to make it out, but if you die you have to start all over again. The levels are randomized so you are not just repeating the same thing over and over again. So far, I've enjoyed my time in the game. In addition to the rope and exit, there are other things to find in the levels, including a compass that will show you where the exit is and a map that shows you the structure of the level. Enemy types so far have ranged from tentacles that spawn from the group, spiders that shoot green goo at you, and different zombies you have to sneak around. I died to one of the zombies in my first run as I tried to 1v1 it bro and it won. The menu also implies that you can level up your character as you go along. I like the game a lot. It's very playable in the current form and I did not find any game breaking bugs. It's essentially an escape room roguelike and I'm not aware of any other game like it on the market. I think the current price is more than fair and if this sounds like your type of game you can support it and enjoy it right away, unlike a lot of Early Access horror games on the market. Great game, I've been following this one for a long time back when it was still titled Undermine. No real complaints about the game so far except that it took too long to come out!
In Toxicant your character falls deep into a cave and the goal is to find the rope to escape to higher level of randomized caves. You will encounter some flying skull heads and zombie miners. There are weapon pickups, mushroom and a digital notepad(press r) with your status. It feels more like a puzzle cave maze type of game than story-driven one. The game is pixelated like minecraft and the idea behind the game mechanics is well-thought but very basic. Fun game, quite replayable and definitely scary at points. The setting is pretty interesting and you can definitely see there's a lot of love put into it. I recommend!

Если бы авторы этого проекта могли в визуальный стиль так же хорошо, как и в гнетущую атмосферу, то мы получили бы сильный хоррор. Из минусов, по факту, подметить стоит следующее: 1) графика плохая; 2) анимациям лет пятнадцать уже; 3) детализация хромает на обе ноги. Из плюсов: 1) отличный звук; 2) грамотно созданная атмосфера стресса и саспенса; 3) довольно широкий спектр возможностей персонажа по использованию различных устройств. Пожалуй это главные причины, по которым сие творение игростроя теряется на фоне своих конкурентов. Попробовать стоит, но слишком сильно надеяться не надо. Поэтому скорее "рекомендую", чем нет. Pretty cool little roguelike horror game. The untold lore is interesting and it's pretty tense late game. Right now trying to get the second ending and it's not easy I like it.

Like one of the other reviews, followed this game for a long time when it still was called undermine and was dying to play. Pretty nice survival horror game with stealth mechanics and combat, roguelike elements + procedural levels, tense atmosphere and a little upgrade system. Lov it and will follow how this game is going further into development
