Wow, wo war ich gerade? .... 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
English: Wow, where was I just? .... In the House of Moiré by Mutek. An audiovisual work of art that we can experience and listen to here. In the House of Moiré experience, we are stuck walking on rails through several rooms. All these rooms are different but somehow similar. They each offer unusual soundscapes that seem to oscillate between new music and interference. There are holographic-looking structures to be seen, sometimes spinning in circles or floating through the room. I felt reminded of many an art demo from Amiga times, only this time in VR. All in all, House of Moiré is an interesting experience, but you shouldn't turn the sound up to maximum. 👀Delicious blackberries🎊on my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group

Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my impressions & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/zDPoXjYijQo This is experimental abstract art for VR with shifting optical patterns & audio-visual design in mind. As such, this experience isn't for everyone. If you enjoy experimental art exhibits made for VR, then you may enjoy this. It's about 10 minutes long, however, it can last much much longer if you really take your time to enjoy the exhibit. In fact, I recommend you take a lot longer than 10 minutes because you will miss a lot if you don't stop and take in the art. Unfortunately, I do think there is an issue with the audio. I don't know the artists personally, but I can't imagine they intended the audio mix in this game as it currently stands. It just seemed like a mess at times with certain audio being too loud and it just sounded muddy. I think the audio is meant to sound crisp & clear with good spatial audio to really make the audio-visual standout from this experience. I hope there is an update soon that fixes the audio. Game / app is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting steady 90 fps. You can only control going forward or going back or looking backwards or forwards (180 snap turning). I strongly suggest looking back as often as possible and also maybe walking back a bit. You will start seeing things and probably think you're going mad. I think I enjoyed this experience (I'm still debating it). It's definitely out there though. I would like to re-visit this experience with better audio. I do recommend it if you enjoy trippy, artistic experiences. Rate ?/10.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. House of Moire is not a game, but an immersive abstract art experience where you get to move slowly through an evolving gallery of moire-inspired graphics animations, coupled with experimental sound design. The audio is immersive and presented in spatial audio so be sure to wear headphones. You can only move forwards and backwards at a slow pace, so be sure to look behind you as much as you look ahead. The whole experience takes about 10 minutes, but I encourage you to pause and experience the art and sound for longer. It definitely can put you in a hypnotic state. Wonderful job to the creators and excited to have more weird art experiences for VR!
If you like psychedelic VR experiences this wont disappoint. Well worth the low price. I took my time, going backwards a few times as it seemed to change on the reverse. I can see myself revisiting in the future. A+
I appreciate this kind of experiences reminding of abstract cinema in the first decades of '900. VR adds the feeling of immersion and spatiality. However the idea is not well implemented, in the actual state the experience is poor. It suffers from the lack of 3D spatial sound. Sounds are not localized according to the position and movements of objects and shapes around your head. Abstract objects and shapes are built with flat thin lines or stripes, they have no depth, that's a big mistake in VR. Objects and shapes have quite no textures and colors are flat. The biggest defect is the lack of light management. Rendering of light is the most important feature in VR. No light sources, no environmental lights, no volumetric effects, no occlusions, no shadows. Materials have no light properties, no reflections, maybe just a bit of flat scattering. VR development is a new frontier, very few can master it actually. One and only direction of the flow of images is not the best choice; in VR you need to feel surrounded. I would like some objects and shapes to go around my head, with spatial sound. Why not drop the user into a chasm or black hole every once in a while, like Alice in the white rabbit hole? Images flow at constant rate; why not allow the user to change speed? I understand that acceleration can cause sickness in some users; but this should not make the experience poor for everyone. Just let users choice their settings. The feeling of speed and acceleration is a great added value for VR enthusiasts. I was tempted to give a negative rating. However I appreciate people trying to do something different and I like this kind of psychedelic experiments. I don't want to discourage them. Plus, developers gently submitted their app to my curator page. I hope they listen to my suggestions and do a better job next time. VR needs this kind of experiences.
Letztendlich nimmt man mit, was man möchte.
As soon as you enter House of Moiré, you discover a universe with psychedelic visuals and intriguing sounds. The mixture of geometric shapes, antico-futuristic architecture, and optical effects alter our perceptions while the sound work transports us even further into this parallel world. As I progressed, I had the impression that a mystery was hidden in the different rooms. Perhaps someone (or something) was observing me... This sensation makes me want to explore House of Moiré even more. I hope that the developers are working on new features with interactions that will enhance the sense of mystery even further...
I was worried I'd gotten too high, but turns out i was just too high enough.
