You'd think that a game about playing a blind person would have amazing sound design that you could use to navigate by. Or, at least, any kind of sound. But nope, the entire game is just mashing WASD and Space in dead silence save for the stock sound effect ticking off each task as you randomly stumble over it. A complete waste of an interesting premise.
Get out of here.
Don't buy this game!!! achievements doesn't work!!!
Well that was a waste of time. The game is just a black screen where you have to fumble your way around to find the various objects and objectives to complete. There is no amazing sound or anything. It's a HUGE game size for something so small. Completed it in a short amount of time and there is no replayability. Overall: 1/10 - Skip it. Don't even get it. Not worth polluting your library with.
Hotel Blind is a game about what it's like to be blind, if you also lacked the additional senses of smell, taste, and touch. So it's pretty much nothing like being blind. The "gameplay" consists of staring at white text on a black background and slowly moving around a room using WASD, which in itself feels pretty uninspired and lazy. Overall, the "game" fails to actually be a game and feels more like you're doing nothing. I wouldn't even rebuy this game if it was free.
In addition to not being fun, it would not let me interact with many of the required objects when I did eventually find them.
Potato User: You know how the screen turns when a PC overheats... Dev: Say no more, fam.

[th]PROS[/th] [th]CONS[/th]

Short, easy +1 100% game Practically everything else

Okay, I'll admit the joke is pretty bad but in case someone didn't get it, the game is basically JUST a black screen with yellow text appearing occasionally. The game tries to push an interesting concept about how a blind person would experience a day in a hotel (?) room but the method of execution is absolutely horrendous! You move around with WSAD and interact with the Spacebar. The problem is that the game didn't offer nearly enough visual (understandably) nor audio cue for you to get a hold on the current location so you'll end up just mashing the Spacebar while moving around aimlessly and hope that you'll hit something where the objectives are located. Sure, the black screen denotes the blindness but an actual blind can get his bearing via other senses (tactile, smell, auditory, etc.) and this game just fails to deliver it. I know it's too much too ask for a $2 game but with the content it's offering, I'd rather play a much better flash game than this. They don't even offer trading cards! Anyways, that's another one off the backlog and thank god it only took like 5 minutes to complete.
An abysmal 1 / 5
As someone who is legally blind this game intregued me. It had apparently been researched a great deal to ensure authenticity. Load game up to be met by a completely unreadable menu .... Not a good start! Two light colours together does not make for easy reading. Clicking randomly and guessing a fair bit got the keys confirmed and started a game. And what can I say .... This is an insult. Text descriptions of what you need to do .... An inaccurate voice over system (Its correct the first time, but rather than saying you have already done something the second, third, fourth time you bump into the place holder it just repeats itself ad infanitum. I did finish all the tasks in the room to find even the singular acheivement didn't work. If you wish to replicate what this Dev believes being blind is, play your favourite game with your eyes shut and save yourself some money. All I ask from the Dev is next time don't piggy back a disability in the hope it gets sales, you will only get away with it if you get it right. This time you have failed. Miserably.
