About
Do you like hot dogs? How about horseshoes? Hand grenades? (everyone likes hand grenades) Anyway, we've got all that, and guns. SO MANY GUNS. So if you like ordnance, meat, and groan-worthy puns, this is the VR sandbox game for you.
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades (H3VR for short), is the heaping pile of our mad obsessive VR experiments. This has been an impressionistically developed experience, over 10+ years and a 120+ updates.

Assemble your ultimate range companion from over 600 Firearms and 250 Attachments. Customize your perfect loadout, be it tacti-cool or utterly cursed and save it for future play. Share your creations with your friends too!

Try out your favorite platforms on H3’s suite of Firing and Demolitions ranges. Improve your aim and reaction time in the M.E.A.T.S. target shooting trainer and Compete on global leaderboards.

Combat some of the most sophisticated AI Agents in VR (yup, even though they’re hot dogs), at range or in melee. Put your mastery of H3’s massive arsenal to the test, and even join the First 2 Wurst Tournament Community on Discord!

Dive into a Wiener’s Weird World; a land overtaken by confused but affable sentient meat and the ruins of bizarre firearm themed attractions. Experience an absurd fragmentary tale told through multiple genres of game.

Enjoy the various goofball holiday event modes the game has gotten over the years, including our much beloved biennial Meatmas Firearm Advent Calendar.

Battle your way through this Sci-fi Action Roguelite. In Take & Hold you are the intruder to the system. Equip yourself to take and then defend control points, while defeating Encryption Targets of escalating complexity. Earn tokens for your performance and spend them in item shops to prepare for the next wave.

Awake outside the town of Wienerton, where a plague of rotten undead meat has beset the eccentric townsfolk of the Honey Hamlet. Find weaponry, craft powerups and explosives, and complete quests on your journey to discover the cause of the Rotwiener outbreak.

Fight in the Meat Fortress combat arena. Made with the official permission of Valve, this loving homage to one of our favorite games has Meaty parodies of Team Fortress 2’s 9 iconic classes, and VR adaptations of the entire original firearm set of the game, as well as over a dozen original creations made in the TF2 style.

Explore the ruins of the Wurstwurld amusement park. Solve puzzles, complete extreme horseshoe challenges, stand off against robit bandits and collect old logs that reveal the background on the most foolhardy and most assuredly not child safe amusement park doomed to failure.

Survive the Meat Grinder, the very first game mode added to H3 back in 2016. Navigate by flashlight through a surreal hellish fast food themed maze, collect precious ammo, defending against animatronic assailants, and dragging the ‘meat’ back to the Grinder in time.

I waited about 8 years to get a VR capable setup, so that I could play this game. I wasn't disapointed.
People are getting mad that a sequel was announced... After 10 years of this one being updated around the clock by, for most of its run, a single guy. "Its still in early access" Cool? So are most games, and this one is going to be leaving EA long before the sequel drops anyways. Early Access doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ anymore, and hasn't for a long time. The game is 10 years old, I think were a bit past the "early" part. Sure, when it first came out it still meant something, but after awhile it just became a tag for any game that isnt officially EOL yet. "They are Abandoning this one" Again, the game has been in development for 10 years. Most are lucky to get 5. Also, good job on outing yourself for having terrible reading comprehension, the announcement literally starts with "...despite the fact that we are STILL getting H3VR’s 1.0 update ready for you folks (it’s almost here, we promise)..." They are still working on the game, and at no point did they say they would EOL at 1.0. Sure, maybe there wont be any major feature releases, but bugfixes and patches are still going to be a thing. Even then, 1.0 is releasing modding tools to help extend the lifetime even further. I mean, come on people, it takes 2 seconds to read past the headline. "The game is still incomplete" Yeah, according to the dev. It is more that enough content to satisfy anyone though, looking at the steam reviews makes that obvious. They could have made the game complete whenever they felt like it. They could have completed it 5 years ago. The game is finished enough to do so, but no, THEY, not YOU, felt it wasn't good enough, and kept on trucking with it. Its their game, they can do what they want with it, and consider it complete whenever they feel like it. If they want to make a sequel and work on both at the same time, so be it. This game, even though it is more than enough to be considered complete, isn't perfect though, and has a lot of issues that cant be fixed within the current engine or build, without completely disassembling the game to its foundation, which, is typically why you make a sequel. Look, I'm the last person to be up on a soap box going "Don't talk bad about the million dollar company!", but this is an indie dev who has worked on a game for over a decade now, and wants to rebuild it from the ground up to make an even better product based on his experience from developing the first one. It doesn't take much time to click on the steam announcement and watch the video to figure that out. Get the game if you want, its not incomplete like so many of these new reviews are making it out to be. Its been constantly supported for a little over a decade, and is full of all kinds of content and unique features you cant find anywhere else. Its official release into 1.0 will be done soon, and is well worth the... $20? Yall are pissed over a $20 indie game getting a sequel after a decade? Some ungrateful MFers.
-buy game -enjoy game, but get bored -get mods -wonder why booting up the game with mods takes so long -game boots up -laggy,but you can now play clean house from mw19 in vr with an RPG-7 and a handcrank gatling gun against hot dogs 11/10
I cant recommend a dev who not only keeps their game in early access for 10 years but also announces their sequel when they dont have a finished product for their first game, the game itself is a good simulator but the business practices of this company are nothing short of lazy now.
This game is the weirdly wholesome, meat-themed uncle of the VR world. Mired in an ancient version of its engine, with distinct limitations on what could be done with its development past a certain point, Anton and his team have nonetheless innovated many of the best implementations of given features across the whole VR space. Aside from being a light-hearted firearms simulator of incredible depth and detail, with varied gamemodes to give focus and motivation to learn how to use hundreds of guns, it also has one of the better melee combat implementations in VR, it has the most impressive form of nightvision in any VR game I know of. The sheer scale and detail of the toybox made available to the player is unprecedented and might never be matched, and - writing this minutes after the release of 1.0 - the community have barely scratched the surface of what can be created using the tools RUST have created for their use, but have already made a lot of fun studio characters, on top of the years of impressive and varied pre-release modding. H3VR is an *odd* game, and not everyone wants to play with incredibly detailed guns, but rest assured that while firearms and weird meat-based humour are the focus of the experience, it's a game with a good heart to it. Or at least non-specific ground organs with wholesome intent. Everyone who has a VR system and even a very modest PCVR-capable machine (it has, after all, been in development for a decade) owes it to themselves to pick up H3 and play around with the ridiculous quantity of entertaining nonsense and surprisingly deep systems within - even if you'd ordinarily be discouraged by the gun nerdery or the big jiggling meat people. It's a very good game, and a pillar of VR development, and I think it will continue to be an inspiration to the medium for many years to come.
unfinished early access game getting a paid "sequel" that is actually just what the original game should've been to begin with.
great game and the people complaining about h3vr2 clearly haven't seen the video and FAQ anton released
As of writing this review, best guns VR has to offer, period. Anton Hand is hard at work. We're getting out of Early Access, it's actually happening!! Wishlist H3VR2 now!!!
H3VR was one of the greatest VR gun-based sandboxes. Throughout the 10 long years since it's initial release - the game went from being a basic demo, to an all-round sandbox with the freedoms to do whatever, whenever you wished. Time and time again - the game would receive a carefully-constructed update, adding new game-modes, new enemy types, an impossible-to-count amount of guns, attachments, grenades - anything that a maniac like me could ever want. But sadly, at a certain point - the direction of the game has changed drastically. From being a small, basically indie-sized studio - RUST has decided to expand. And with that - they decided to change their framework. "Hooray!" - Everyone might think. Me as well. But as it turns out, the initial hope quickly turns to despair after realizing that this new framework isn't an update. It isn't a toggleable setting. It's a new game. Now, I do believe that the developers have the right to do whatever the **** they wish with their product. After all - it's their property, and their actions aren't regulated by anyone but them (and also TOS but we skip that) - but the previous statements that H3VR would be updated, kept-in-shape and developed along the way are now strangely not being repeated. The studio did say that soon the 1.0 Update would be released, marking the end of the development cycle for the game - but no real statements after that. There is no statement about the game being updated after 1.0 release. No statement that after the release of H3VR2 this game still would have a bug-fixing division. Nothing. Although I am happy with the product that H3VR is this point in time - I can't with full conscience say that such a decision is made from the good-will of the developers. In my eyes this is a stab in the back. Again, due to no communication - there aren't any talks about possible discounts or the game being given out free to the previous supporters that stuch with the game. There is no comments about the mods compatability. There isn't really a comment on the future of this game now. After 1.0 - it seems the game would be completely/partially abandoned. I am extremely glad to have played this game on my free time, and genuinely - this game is as good as one could make a sandbox in VR (in my eyes) - but the fact that the developers choose not to respond and engage with the community about the future of the game, instead replying to the same issue raised on Reddit by saying " I'm totally fine with you choosing to find other folks to buy games from from now on. " - really puts in into a perspective how the next title is there not as to expand on this game - and instead to just raise money. There is no guarantees this won't happen again. There is no deal or tether that the developers have made or agreed upon to not release "H3VR3" in 10 next years. This was the first, and sadly the last project that I would support from these developers, and I encourage you to think on your own if you wish to buy their current/future games and projects. This review will remain negative until the developers are willing to communicate with their supporters about the future of H3VR1 and it's continued support, as well as if the game would be partially/completely abandoned after it's "Initial Release". *Edit: After multiple replies from multiple developers in the studio - it has become clear that the studio basically has a "you don't like us - we hate you" approach. No real dialogue, just negativity and high-horse riding due to the "immense support" they get from their fans. Essentially their take boiling down to - "We never said we will maintain the game after release", and "You have a right to choose to not buy games from us" - which I will happily oblige by after the previous statements. My final words are - that RUST isn't your friend if you just like video games and wish to spend time relaxing from the real world. Thank you for reading until the end, and I urge you to double (and even triple) rethink any decisions about buying any sort of thing from them, as it seems that by being on the market for 10 years - they company has declared themselves to be in the "Big Leagues" and will no longer focus on their former releases as the years go by. Patiently awaiting for the release of H3VR3 for this to be repeated all over again.
No steam workshop, early access for 10 years (the 1.0 update for this game is a poor excuse to abandon it), making a sequel out of pure greed. this game is literally a tech demo. don't buy this game, or the sequel edit: game only really supports 90hz, so if you own a rift s (or anything that runs on a hz below 90) it looks jittery when you move around
