Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 26 → 0.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Each DLC is estimated with the same model as a game, then summed — a modeled figure, not reported DLC sales.
Sums Steam only; GOG, Epic publish no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

Reviews
Updates broke the game so that it is now impossible to control grouped units. We also now have to put up with Epic Service spyware which is NOT mentioned anywhere in the installation details.
Whatever recent deal the devs struck with Epic has made the game unplayable. Great job Epic, breaking a working game just because you wanted to get your grubby little nubbies into it. This needs to stop. Edit: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3102442432 has instructions that work as of 10/23/24 to revert the current version of the game to the pre-epic tainted version. This guy who put this guide together is a hero.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

has to be launched through epic for some reason now
Unable to play after 1.4 Patch, don't buy this. Epic Online Services are installed and break the game unless you're online.
BOOOO EPIC ONLINE SERVICES BOOOO Besides the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of online-only, changing the conditions this late after release is insulting and highly disappointing. This is unacceptable.
This was one of my favorite games. Recently had to wipe my hardrive for a computer update and haven't played DoK for a while, but suddenly I'm required to get an Epic account and be online to play the campaign. When the HELL did that happen!? Once again Epic has screw me out of a good game. I hate leaving negativity, but I can't forgive this. Screw you Epic.
They have retro actively required me to be always online through epic. I did not sign up for this. this is not what I purchased.
I am not enjoying it. I am a die-hard Homeworld fan and respect and admire the artistry of the originals. This game? It's not homeworld. You cannot compare being in space and the numinous awe that brings with being on a flat desert wasteland that perennially looks the same each and every mission. It's bizarre to be able to compare it to being in the void of space every mission and claim in seriousness that the latter still has more visual interest. Combat is annoying, it's a race-against-the-clock clickfest and micromanagement is extremely high. Like HW2, everything is rock-paper-scissors. What's more annoying is that critical resources like carrier upgrades that you collect are not automatically harvested at the end of the mission. This means you are not free to play the way you like - you cannot predict when a cutscene will kick in and end the mission and so you end up restarting missions just to get those artifacts which apparently aren't that important to a lone carrier deep in the hostile desert. Captain's on a tight schedule, y'all. The bottom line is since the storyline takes precedence over gameplay, you are best served to play it on easy and just sightsee your way through the game with a tonne of clicking inbetween cutscenes. I could play the original HW games for hours and sit through an entire campaign in one sitting. This game has me quitting in irritation too frequently to go do something else instead. The path-finding is HORRIBLE and my strike aircraft get stuck circling the carrier way too often because they can't figure out how to land or are stuck in some sort of deadlock. Gearbox do NOT know how to make addictive RTS. I am playing this game 10 years after release so won't comment on the graphics, they still look good and must have been great when the game was launched. But that is not what this type of game is about. Homeworld Remasted is much better looking than the original, for example, but it is unquestionably a worse game because the underlying engineand gameplay mechanics are completely different and that ruins much of what made the original so special. Gearbox needs to learn how to focus on what's important. If you're a fan of the HW universe then I suppose this game is worth your money, but as an RTS it fails and therefor it gets a not recommended.
No mods No multiplayer Campaign is kinda short If you realy like RTS genre or Homeworld frnachise - go for it. But only at discount proces.
Epic DRM retroactively added.
