Worst game in the series by far, worth the €2,89 i bought it for tho, otherwise dont buy it
very little tactical aspects in campaign, just blob units and overwhelm.
Kurz Fazit: Finger Weg!!!
Epic Disappointment
So despite how bad the story/campaign is, I give this a thumbs up. It's still very fun to play mechanically, and if you change most controls to classic styles it feels very much Homeworld-y. The 3p roguelike co-op is quite a bit of fun if you got two friends to hang out on voicecomm with! But the story, and in particular how it is told... hrm. Nah. Big pass. I think they had some good ideas, tbh. Imogen is a suitable mysterious character from the outside, the slightly-religious overtones to many scenes are there. It's just that they got lost in wanting to convey a cutscenes-based personal story. That can happen as a background piece, but first and foremost the story should have been opaque and told entirely through interactions between voices while playing. This keeps the narrative mysterious to the player and hence prevents the glaring holes in it - which the previous games shared! - from being even noticable. There's also a problem of performance. These rendered cutscenes aren't really high-production-value. Focusing on them so much, and constantly interrupting gameplay for them, it kicks the player right out of the action. It's really baffling that it made it through into release, as the flaws are immediately obvious. As are the good parts of the story and characterization. As for the actual levels and gameplay, I'll say that they also have three, albeit more minor flaws. As beautiful and impressive as the mega-space-structures are, essentially every level being that is grating. Quickly. Also, the collision systems make in particular smaller vessels sometimes bouncy around, which looks funny and quite immersion breaking. And in general, ships feel tiny. They don't move with enough inertia or the type of motion you'd associate with huge vessels in space, plumes of smoke come off of them, etc etc. It's weird. Still, despite all of that, it is IMO a good game if you get it 50%+ off. It's still a fun romp through extremely beautiful levels with megastructures, and some of the ship designs are really cool.
Homeworld 3 is a visually spectacular RTS that successfully recreates the series' signature 3D space combat. The fleet battles are strategic, cinematic, and enhanced by impressive graphics and sound design. According to many gaming outlets, the core gameplay remains strong, but the campaign story, user interface, and some design decisions prevent it from reaching the legendary status of its predecessors. Despite its flaws, it still offers an enjoyable experience for fans of large-scale sci-fi strategy games. Score: 7.5/10 A good sequel with moments of brilliance, but not quite the triumphant return many Homeworld fans were hoping for.

👍
So annoyed I let the review score effect how long I held off on this game. Basically you can just ignore 90% of the recent reviews, they are a bunch of incel reviews and "abandonware" on a complete game reviews. As for the game, a lot of the complaints you will read are about the story, its not incredible but it is more than servicable for the game its yet again another battlestar galatica story like all the previous games. Gameplay is solid, lost some UX elements from the original, like controlling individual fighters instead of wings, the AI navigation and pathfinding can be a bit odd. Less missions are a race against time, so its certainly easier than the older games. But in general its a fun RTS experience. Would recommend it.
