I enjoy this game! I hope the creator makes more content! I like it's concept and would love for there to be more to this.
I have listened to its OST when exploring Vindsvept's music on another music app , and the moment I finished listening to the album I know that it must be a game that respect both players and artist would have such music created. I finally played it after I have bought the game a season ago and my interest to play turned out to be unstoppable. Because I like this kind of pixel style——take a look at my Stardew Valley statistics——Hollow Island can be a Gothic version of Stardew Valley. I think my interest to this game would support me continue exploring it.
I don't do a lot of reviews but this little gem had to have one it really gets that old rpg itch good. It felt like good times from when I was a kid. the game play is relaxed take as much time as you want to do/kill things hoard everything or sell it you pick it has crafting done really well some things you might not make tell much later in game (like crafting stations) make the stuff never feel useless (iron bars low lvl logs and such) and if you want to just kill things and sell the high lvl drops to buy the lower craft stuff you can do that too! There is very little that can not be bought somewhere in the game and you can make portals almost anywhere on the over world! oh and with my 78 hours of play I have had 2 times the game crashed yes only 2! I have had big company games crash more than that before the main menu comes up! almost no glitches and if you get stuck there is a REALLY good guild on the forms that covers 95% of whats in the game! In short get Hollow Island its really worth it!
Was an overall entertaining game with an interesting art style that gave me a couple hours of playtime. It kept me interested up until I finished every challenge I could find in the game.
es bastante entretenido
Pros: - A lot of content considering the low price. - Somewhat open and you can do different things, like a hint of Stardew Valley. - Unique pixel art style. Especially the portraits are interesting. - A robust and charming take on a genre that doesn't have that many games. Cons: - Even though it's seemingly open, it does feel like you have to do stuff in a linear order. - Very grindy and slow. - Related to the grind and linearity: you see the repeating patterns pretty quickly. Get iron pickaxe to mine gold for gold pickaxe to mine the next mineral tier and fight the next tier of enemies etc. - Combat is... weird. Not exactly clunky, but it doesn't feel fun and intuitive. The "engine" is good for exploring, building and all that, but not so much for combat. All in all, I got tired of it after ~12h, estimating I had completed maybe 50-60% of the game. Recommended to people who like stuff like Stardew and Graveyard Keeper.
Very fun game. A lovingly-crafted throwback to a more simple era of gaming, Hollow Island offers exploration, a great deal of crafting, and ultimately base/town building. I'd recommend it to any players who appreciate pixel art, RPGs, or base building games. The only nit I have to pick so far, is that achievements don't seem to be unlocking for me at all... A strange conundrum, that, and hopefully one that is addressed by the devs. Other than that, I look forward to continuing to develop my small hamlet into a proper town, and to see what other secrets the Hollow Island has left to discover! EDIT: Please disregard that bit about achievements - apparently it's a problem on my end that I have to resolve! >_<
Yes, it's another ranching sim, but the focus here is more on exploration and dungeon diving than the actual planting and animal care. Your farm takes care of itself, and so do your cows and chickens... leaving you more time to beat up goblins, mine for ores and make yourself some awesome gear!
I got this game for $2 on sale. I guess it's worth that. It's decently fun and you can upgrade your equipment pretty quickly with some time spent in the mines. I've played 4 hours so far and the game has crashed twice. It freezes for a couple seconds whenever it autosaves which is kind of annoying but over all the game runs well. The game doesn't give too much direction on what you're supposed to be doing and the map might as well not even be there because it isn't very detailed. Not having item durability or a requirement to eat/drink is kind of nice. It's a bit of a grind to get enough money to purchase land squares to expand what you're doing. The combat curve seems weird. It jumps from goblins that hit 8 damage to trolls and spiders that wipe you out in a couple hits unless you're wearing high level gear. Overall the game is decent enough for a crafting/life sim. If it were priced any higher than $10 it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion
