This is what we call a GAG (Good Ass Game.) It's a fun shooter that requires less and less of your focus as you become more powerful and understand the game more. The rules are very simple: a lot of people will shoot at you, your gun will overheat and jam. That's not to say the game gets easier as it goes on, you just become more resilient and familiar with how it works. THAT is what makes a good power fantasy. Something that seems quite hard becomes quite easy as you learn more about it. You get new weapons and attachments but they are mostly 'sidegrades' that give you more freedom of engagement. The enemies never change save a couple secrets so it's a great way to measure your strength as the game goes on. There are power-ups and things like larger magazines that do offer a more tangible progression, but that's just gravy. A huge part of this progression is that the maps are so simple and large that you might think they are randomly generated at first, which I believe to be intentional design. Learning how to navigate is probably the greatest power the player obtains. Learning how the the enemy ai spawn and interact with each other, you can use your map knowledge to become the hunter instead of getting your head blown off in the crossfire. I have like 1000 games and none of them ever keep me for more than an hour but I marathoned this all weekend because the sensation of personal gamer growth made me want to drink mtn dew and scream slurs like I havent in years. Good job devs.

Simple concept, great execution. Perfect balance between frustration and satisfaction. Highly recommend.
序盤はハンドガンしかないけど後々武器種は増える、銃のパーツを変更するカスタマイズも可能 コスパ最強の神ゲー
At only 2.3 hours at the time of review, I can foresee myself putting around 20 hours into this. Insane value for the price tag and the content you're receiving. Short extract-like rounds that get increasingly more intense as you stay longer. The pacing to the round difficulty feels perfect, the progression of unlocks feels so naturally obtainable, not too easy, not painstakingly grindy. I didn't expect much of a progression system at all when purchasing this game, and it feels so rewarding with it's implementation. So much respect to the Devs for this ENTIRELY understated masterpiece in short-play FPS game design. I've been searching for a game like this since I started PC gaming.

Hole is one of the best extraction shooters you can buy especially for this price. This is a single player extraction shooter that still lets you keep 10% of your loot upon death. Any task progress you make is also retained on failed runs. There is no story to the game you are completing tasks to unlock new maps which will help you get new weapons. Gameplay is straightforward you earn money and data while trying to complete tasks and successfully extract. It feels very rewarding and addictive because the gameplay loop is fun and you are always taking some reward home. You don’t lose your weapons upon failed runs either. The gunplay feels good and different weapons are good for different situations. For example the pistol does better damage against non armored enemies but then the assault rifle does better damage against armored enemies. You can always have 2 weapons on you. The gun fights are intense which is helped by the gun jamming system. Guns don’t jam so frequently that it gets annoying but if you shoot too much and heat up the gun jams will become more frequent. Sound design is awesome and you can really hear what directions people are running or shooting from. The various tasks are fun to do and don’t take too long so progress is always constant. When you complete all the tasks they start repeating so you can still earn more rewards from them and you are not forced to successfully extract to get rewards. The atmosphere is great and the horror influence is done well. There’s 3 main maps and 3 unfinished unofficial maps they added for fun. Each map offers a different vibe and different types of combat encounters. Performance for me was stable on Steam Deck with 60 fps. Overall if you like extraction shooters or the idea of them but PvP has turned you off I can highly recommend this one.
A bit late to the party but I'm really enjoying the quick rounds I can have with this game. This is the perfect game if you just want to jump in for half an hour and work towards a task or two. It made completely forget about playing Ravenfield or Grayzone. Guns feel solid, guns sound nice and punchy. The isolated atmosphere this game creates is great and just adds to the overall creepyness. I really like the office stage, it just has a vibe and you can easily get turned around in a panic. What this game needed was a 5player multiplayer deathmatch mode with some random tasks sprinkled inbetween.
