overall alright for in between.
How does this game not have the recognition it deserves?! Everything about it is fantastic. It feels like a Mario Party mini-game, but with a bit more! It's super easy to set up couch co-op, too! Learning how to draw spells feels like an accomplishment, even more so when you successfully cast it if it has a complicated symbol! It's perfectly feasible to draw with either the controller or the mouse, however you may have some issues with the keyboard and mouse like I did, but me and my friend were both using controllers and we could draw just fine (by just fine I mean they were the ugliest squiggles you'd ever have seen, but it was still fun!), and in fact he actually was kicking my butt for the first 10-20 minutes! And if you don't have a buddy to play with, you could play endless singleplayer! It's a solid 10/10 for me. Wait no, 11/10! For the price, you really can't go wrong! It's something that you can just squeeze into a larger steam purchase, and you won't regret it!

Might be fun with some friends who've never heard of Magicka.
this game is delightful. sokpop really knows how to work within the limits of these small games and hoco poco is a great example of that. in another game the drawing spells with the mouse mechanic would probably be really annoying, but it works because hoco poco feels so low stakes. drawing a meteor spell when you meant to draw a bomb spell isn't frustrating, its just a silly mistake in a silly game.
Fun to figure out the controls and the spell effects and mess around with the bots for a little while. You play as a cute little wizard! It's great! However, actually casting the spells is no walk in the park. Feels like half the time it fails, or I can't cast at all (Star Fall spell). This made playing with friends an ordeal for everyone involved (except me, who had prior practice, but even then I struggled). They though it was cute though, if unplayable. The asking price is so cheap I can't not recommend it (shrug).
Another solid Mario Party minigame-like title from Sokpop
Hoco Poco can best be thought of in the same vein as Sokpop's Capy Hoky, which released in Season 4. It's a chaotic, fun little party game where half the fun is getting familiar with the controls. In terms of Single-Player, it probably won't hold your attention for long - I was done with it after about 15 minutes. Strangely, the mana meter doesn't seem visible when I play, and I couldn't get the keyboard controls to work. Recommended if you've got a few friends over and want a quick laugh.
A magic game where you draw shapes to cast spells. I love the idea, and think it should be expanded into an adventure rather then solely PVP. Some shapes, such as the star, are hard to draw just right but with some practice you'll be a wizard in no time.
Pure silly fun where figuring out the controls is half the appeal. Really glad I bought this.
I do not recommend this game. As far as I can tell it is unplayable; I have found no controls that work, the onscreen instructions are incorrect, and nothing I do after opening the game does anything. Even navigating the menus was frustratingly unclear and took multiple restarts and randomly hitting keys on the keyboard to deduce. Don't know how to play and it has never worked for me after dozens of attempts.
