There is no better metaphor for internet simps than ten different knights rushing into a wall of fire trying to save one princess.

One of the few PS3 games that really stuck with me. Simple and awesome. By the way, I love playing through Steam Link.

TLDR: Be a dragon. Build your HOARD by terrorising the kingdom and burninating the peasants. Ransom princesses, and defeat your rivals in this solo, team, or competitive game. [b][u]General Thoughts/Overview:[/u][/b] Note: Base game only. HOARD is a game that needs time to cook. If you just play it once or twice, it won’t dig its claws in. HOARD as a multiplayer experience is ok, it isn’t anything special but it isn’t bad. HOARD as a single player game is all about self-improvement and challenging yourself to build up bigger and faster. A sort of semi party game, HOARD sees you sporting the role of the dragon, either surviving until survive you cannot, racing to capture princesses, or racing to build the biggest HOARD in the limited time. Burn down towns, raid wagons, and capture princesses. Kill knights and city defenders, and keep an eye out for the dangerous wizard towers and any rivals you might have. All in the name of gold. [b][u]Pros:[/u][/b] [list][*] Very simple gameplay that can be picked up in just a few runs, but with many nuances and strategies to discover as you grow in skill and attempt to achieve bigger hordes and better survival rates. [*] The self-challenge of the single player campaign is actually quite addictive. You’ll find yourself running over and over in some of the maps and modes, fighting to beat your previous score or nab just enough loot in the seconds remaining to get that gold medal. [*] Do you know what? It’s really actually quite nice to be the one doing the terrorising for a change. It’s all good and well, being the hero of the story in your shining armour. But sometimes you just want to burn a city to the ground and sit on the loot you accumulated from that. [/list] [b][u]Cons:[/u][/b] [list][*] The music and format gets very repetitive. This is makes the game quite boring and samey, with only the effort to beat your own records and times to push through it. [*] While there is some nuance to the way your skills develop, it isn’t deep water. Yes you can find improvement, but at the end of the day, there isn’t much in the way of emergent gameplay or grand strategy. [*] The lack of a story or an interesting development throughout the games makes HOARD kind of flat. The fun is all in self-improvement, which, as we all know, is the finest of things. [*] I’d be interested in a mode where dragons have the different breath types as standard, possibly in a template format. Though I appreciate this would be extremely difficult to balance. [*] More varied music and maps. These ones do get very dull after a while. [/list] [b][u]Overall Recommendation:[/u][/b] Sure. HOARD is good enough and cheap enough for what it is to get a thumbs up from me. This game is for people who like iteration, enjoy party games they can play with friends, or just want something quick they can have done in less than 15 minutes. This game is not for people looking for a meaningful experience, or who don’t want to put time into learning and improving, or who aren’t interested in something built in short rounds. Overall I think HOARD is a decent addition to a library. It’s short and sweet, and sometimes you just want to see everything go up in flames. Fond memories playing this game on PS3. Unfortunately, this port is disgraceful. Basic game features missing. No vsync, and unable to do anything in nvidia control panel. I had to play in windowed mode just to avoid the most offensive screen tearing to have ever assaulted my eyes. DO NOT PURCHASE Refunded my $2 out of spite. [i] Here be dragons... [i]

A simple little arcade style game where you play a dragon competing with other dragons to amass the biggest hoard and kidnap the most princesses.

A fun arcade game and dragons are always a plus!

One word to describe it:Nostalgia

Hoard is an interesting game with a fun premise. Its strongest selling point is probably its ability to be picked up for relatively short missions (with the option of co-op) and competitive matches. In this, it pretty much excels. I could tell it was a game I wouldn’t want to play for long despite being pretty fun, but I do think it fills a niche that others would find very appealing.
