It’s co-op space survival fun, Jim, but not as we know it. This Means Warp is an intense spaceship management roguelite experience for 1-4 players. Explore a procedurally generated universe, upgrade your ship, battle dangerous enemies and adapt your strategies to survive in a hostile galaxy.

abandoned by the developer. Dont bother.
Abandoned game. It would have been so good.. but no update since 2023. This could have been a great game if the devs kept working the frustrating bugs and connection issues.
Cool concept, but poorly thought out and lacking in complexity severely compared to FTL
This Means Warp is a co-op spaceship game that gets dull pretty quickly. Pros: -Ganeplay is a simple enough, but it can frantic once you ramp up and have more characters and enemies running around at once. -Some interesting boss fights to break the sameness. Cons: -Game pace feels really slow. You travel on the map really slow, and there's so many battles that start to feel repetitive and just a matter of slowly whittling down health bars. Each "stage" takes about 20-30 minutes to beat, so a full run is about 1hr 30 min to 2 hrs. -The randomization feels negligible. Every run was pretty much the same. This game is fun at the start when you're first experiencing things with a buddy or a group of friends, but once you've played through half of a run, you realize that you've experienced 90% of what the game has to offer. Had promise, but ends up being a very meh experience. Rating: 4/10
First thing is, if you are a fan of FTL and like to play with friends I can only recomend it for you. But, beware ! This game unfortunately, won't receive any updates soon, the devs are still active but stated on their discord that they can't update it. The game had a Publisher and it seems that for money reason they can't invest their time in updating the game as they are not getting paid since the publisher didn't get enough of their shares. That put aside. Their is obiously some flaws in the game. - The allied bot are wonky don't trust them, they won't target the most urgent task you give them and sometimes they will do some stupid thing and get killed. Treat you bots as you see the ones of your opponent, they are dumb. - You will run out of new things to do fast, there is 2 ship, both have unique mechanic, the bullet / batteries for the weapons. But the despite the game being a roguelike, the Bosses are the same and the ennemy ship will fast be the one you already saw. - Roguelike = Random = Not Balanced. Every seed is different and they are not balanced between each other, some are more diffcult than other, I had one where every encounter was a fight at the 3rd segment. We didn't won. Now that I said that. The game is still fun, at least with friends that is. If you want to play it, I really insist on you playing it with friends, I understand that it means buying it multiples times but for me it was worth it. Else you got the remote play together, I don't really understand how it works, but maybe you don't need multiple copies.
Unfortunately, a number of unforced game design errors make an otherwise good improvement on FTL a boring mess. The gameplay macro loop is underdeveloped but otherwise identical to FTL. The micro loop fetching ammo is repetitive and made painful by a lazy item handling method and an inexplicable input delay. The AI workers are also oddly ineffective. Nice that Jagex have tried something different, but they should try to remember that this is not Runescape. Only worth playing for the co-op if you pick it up on sale.
Wasn't much a fan. Tried playing it with my brothers and none of us were impressed. Graphically it's a mixed bag, 2D art is good, but the 3D, large headed, no hands models, are kind of ugly. The ship we had felt very basic and bland but some of the modules you can install were kind of neat. The main issue with the design, was how unclear everything was. It made it difficult to figure out what was being shot and where we wanted to shoot, which for a game like this, is kind of pivotal. The 'tutorial' didn't exactly help. Basically told you how to load a gun and how to repair a broken wall. The idea of fixing something before a certain amount of time, to repair the hull is a neat idea but with how the character move and operate, it makes it a chore. Even in the short amount of time we played, we constantly traded gunner seats instead of reloading, or dropping an item instead of using it. And last nail in the coffin, the AI was dumb as a bag of rocks. We gave it on taste, to sit in the left gunner chair. They proceeded to fire once, and then walk off and do nothing for the rest of the fight. Overall, this game feels unfinished, which seems to be the sentiment for a lot of the more recent reviews. Give it a try if you want, but don't be like me and miss the refund window by a couple days. 😔
too unrewardingly difficult to play alone, but too easy with friends? seems like they are having some balancing issues. otherwise fun
Verdict
👍 Recommended I played This Means Warp for 11 minutes, and I’m recommending it because I like how simple it is to understand. I destroyed 3 ships, and the last one was a pirate ship with two players. I barely beat them, then I opened some lootbox, stepped on a mine, and got a Game Over… so I’m not playing it again haha. But yeah — it’s an okay game.
My history with the game

Played 11 minutes
Destroyed 3 ships
Last fight: pirate ship with two players (barely won)
Opened a lootbox, stepped on a mine, Game Over
I’m not playing again (haha)

Quick signals
💸 Value: ✅ Good if you want simple co-op chaos 🖥️ Requirements: ✅ Low to medium (8 GB RAM, 1 GB storage minimum) 🎨 Graphics: ✅ Clean, readable top-down style (fits the arcade vibe) 📖 Story: ✅ Not the focus, it’s more about runs and encounters 🎮 Difficulty: ✅ Easy to understand, tough to master 🗣️ Audio: ✅ Full English audio is supported 🐛 Bugs: ✅ No issues in my 11 minutes ⏱️ Length: ✅ Roguelite runs in a procedurally generated universe, meant to be replayed
What I liked

It’s simple to understand
The combat moment I had was fun: I beat 3 ships and the last one was intense
The game’s whole co-op spaceship roguelite idea is clear and easy to get into
The “one wrong move and it’s game over” energy is real (mine proved it)

What didn’t work for me

I got a Game Over right after winning a close fight and I’m not motivated to start over
I literally opened a lootbox, stepped on a mine, and that was it
Even though I recommend it, I’m done with it after 11 minutes

Is it an endless game? How long to beat?
It’s not a story game with a fixed “one-and-done” length. It’s a roguelite with a procedurally generated universe, so it’s built around repeating runs and surviving longer each time. I can’t judge full completion time from my own playtime because I stopped at 11 minutes.
Who will love it

Players who want a simple-to-understand co-op game
Roguelite fans who like randomized runs and upgrades
Groups of friends who want quick, chaotic spaceship moments (local or online co-op)

Replay value

High for the target audience because every run is different (random maps, items, enemies, encounters)
For me: none, because I’m not playing again after that mine Game Over (haha)
