Redbeard recommended this game to me and then I recommended the game to my friend. Well, you know the rest of the story. I love this game and I only been playing a few hours. I just wish the shield was more transparent so I an see the arrow and there was more incentive to utilize the jets more. Also in the cave there are some goo glitches. But over all for the price of this game. I would tell my friends to buy this game.
Fun enough, but randomly crashes on linux.
I bought this on sale for $3.50, and it was definitely worth it. It's not a game I feel that I need to 100% and it is either way too hard or way too easy. The game modes have 15 waves and the games take a while to finish (and the last few waves are very boring). But it has fun action and meets my $1/hour game rule.
Great survivors-like with some unique mechanics. Definitely a tough but rewarding experience at first, but the gameplay loop is what makes it so damn addictive.
Hive Jump 2: Survivors builds upon its predecessor’s fast-paced, cooperative run-and-gun gameplay with a refined blend of intense action, strategic depth, and a gritty sci-fi atmosphere that keeps players on their toes. Set in a hostile alien environment overrun by swarming insectoid creatures, the game puts you in the boots of elite space marines tasked with surviving waves of relentless enemies while exploring procedurally generated maps. From the outset, Hive Jump 2: Survivors delivers a thrilling challenge that demands quick reflexes, teamwork, and constant adaptation. The core gameplay loop centers around intense firefights where players must coordinate to fend off relentless hordes while completing various objectives like rescuing survivors, securing resources, or eliminating hive cores. The action is fast and fluid, with a satisfying mix of ranged and melee combat, character abilities, and a wide arsenal of futuristic weapons that cater to different playstyles. Movement feels responsive and crucial; dodging enemy attacks, positioning for strategic advantage, and using the environment wisely are key to survival. This frenetic combat is balanced by the need for careful planning, as resources are limited and every decision—whether choosing gear, upgrading abilities, or allocating team roles—can influence the outcome of the mission. Cooperative multiplayer remains a highlight, encouraging communication and synergy among up to four players. The dynamic of working as a tight-knit squad adds layers of tension and camaraderie, making each encounter more immersive and rewarding. Even when playing solo, the game offers AI companions that provide reasonable support, although the full experience truly shines with human teammates. Procedural generation ensures that no two missions feel the same, injecting variety and unpredictability into the exploration of alien caverns, abandoned facilities, and hive nests. This replayability factor is a strong suit, keeping players coming back to tackle ever more challenging scenarios. Customization and progression systems add further depth, allowing players to tailor their marines’ loadouts, unlock new abilities, and upgrade weapons. These elements create a gratifying sense of growth over time, as you develop strategies that suit your preferred combat style—whether that’s a heavily armored tank, a stealthy scout, or a high-damage marksman. The game also incorporates a resource management aspect, where you must balance ammunition, health, and special ability usage, increasing the stakes and encouraging thoughtful play rather than reckless shooting. Visually, Hive Jump 2: Survivors maintains a gritty sci-fi aesthetic with detailed pixel art that captures the claustrophobic and dangerous atmosphere of alien worlds. The environments are varied and atmospheric, filled with ominous lighting and organic structures that convey a sense of lurking menace. Enemy designs are creative and intimidating, ranging from small, fast-moving pests to massive hive guardians that test your team’s coordination and firepower. Sound design plays a crucial role in building tension, with a mix of eerie ambient noises, explosive gunfire, and alien screeches that heighten immersion and urgency. Despite its many strengths, the game isn’t without flaws. The difficulty curve can be steep, especially for newcomers unfamiliar with cooperative shooters or roguelike mechanics, which may lead to frustration early on. Some procedural map layouts occasionally feel repetitive, and a few gameplay systems could benefit from clearer tutorials or tooltips to ease new players into the complex mechanics. Additionally, while the multiplayer experience is robust, the player base size can impact matchmaking speed and availability, especially in off-peak hours. Overall, Hive Jump 2: Survivors is a compelling sequel that expands on the original’s foundation with deeper mechanics, more intense combat, and a richer cooperative experience. It’s a game that rewards skill, teamwork, and strategic thinking, offering a challenging and adrenaline-fueled journey through hostile alien territory. For fans of action-packed co-op shooters who enjoy roguelike elements and sci-fi settings, Hive Jump 2: Survivors provides hours of thrilling gameplay and satisfying progression. Its combination of frantic battles, tactical depth, and atmospheric design makes it a standout title in the genre, well worth diving into for players seeking a challenging and cooperative space adventure. Rating: 8/10
Awful. Zero fun. Even for free, it wouldn't be worth your time when there are so many other good games in the same genre for similar or lower prices.
Bon petit rogue like, je recommande
Survival game that mostly use guns, aiming is not on Dev priority to improve. Manual aim only for 1st slot only. If you start with non gun item, no more aiming until you sell the 1st slot item to move up the gun item. There's no inventory organizing to help with this problem either. This have been in the game since demo and post 1.0 release.
