Somehow I got instantly mesmerized by the soundtrack, and aside from the constant sexual energy, there are a lot of interesting nuances to the visual and auditory experience. I can't say that I ever played a game with such a 'high on life', joyful atmosphere, almost like the game is trying to capture its themes through a lens of happiness and friendship. While it may initially seem a bit provocative, I really don't think it's the goal, it's certainly an intimate experience, but in a genuine way, and you should be able to express your thoughts and perspectives, in art especially. While I am not the audience for this story, I still enjoyed the narrative and the characters because they had a good chemistry, granted, the translation was very poor. Hopefully the music is made for the game, not sure if it is, but the sound was definitely the highlight of the game for me, from the very first cutscene to the credits role, just so funky, and exceptionally good at elevating both the mood and the locations. It's more in a range of the "artsy music" if you know what I am referring to, slightly reminded me of the Purgo Box's soundtrack because it has such a homebrew feel to it, but it matches the niche aesthetic of the game. Somewhat unusual choice to go for the fixed camera angles that I normally I associate with horror games, I would not say the locations were that great, honestly the navigation was really terrible, but for a game like this it's not really the point, I still liked the minimalist approach, very colorful, and distinct look for the characters. The game also had some very unique scenes when it comes to composition, I especially liked the scripted cutscenes, as well as some of the scenes with the moving camera when they were making the movie. The game is about 2 hours + some optional achievement support.
Pros:
(+) Loved the soundtrack, if you into "artsy" music it's super funky. Not sure if it's specific to the game or just used for it, but if nothing else, it complemented the story and the visuals really well. (+) The translation was obviously not great, but I still like the narrative and the characters. I like that game is doing something different and not working with something intentionally dramatic, just a group of friends & lovers doing a movie and selling some food. (+) I didn't love the design of the locations that much, but everything else looked great, I liked the perspectives and the visual composition in cutscenes, as well as the scenes with movies. The game certainly has a unique look to it. (+) Has some optional achievement support with a couple of really funny interactions
Feedback:
- Could use a proper English translation, there were missing words and such - The navigation in this game is a bit annoying, I would maybe recommend to color code the exit areas and the corners, as well as making the bus stations look a bit more unique - While I like the aesthetic in the game, I wish the locations had more thought to it, not so much the detail, but some of them felt a bit poorly designed even just with angles, like the whole stairs area and the long parking length felt unnecessary, aside from like 1 side quest, or perhaps they just needed a bit more purpose and not just being a walking section Overall Thoughts: 7/10 I like that this game is being very open about what it's trying to portray, showing me a more intimate look at a side of the community I don't get to see, although some of the intent may have been lost in translation. I enjoyed the game pretty much from the second I heard that soundtrack, showing complex ideas with simple visuals, and if this came from a different developer you could easily get more censorship. I don't like the idea that there are topics that are too extreme for video games, as long as expression comes from the heart, and as long as it feels genuine, I think you can write a good story about anyone. this is such a special game... the vibes are so impeccable, the music is amazing. i really love everything about it. the cinematography is so good, whether its the fixed camera angles (i love fixed camera angles!) or the cutscenes, they are genuinely gorgeous. i love the low-poly style and the jank is the best kind of jank. The characters are so sweet and the story is as well. I thought it was brilliant the way they integrated the previous 2 games into the story via re-interpretation by the characters. very cool idea. the music is absolutely amazing, i'm definitely going to go listen to all the artists that are featured here. I also appreciated that sometimes there was no music, i liked the spaciousness that it brought. Its so dang cool to be able to step into this sweet world with non-monogamous queers doin what they can to live and create together, to share love between themselves and the people around them. This game is truly queer and i love it. so ya, if you want to be held by a ~2hr sweet slice-of-life experience with cute gay boys in Chile, along with a cat and a wicked soundtrack... this hits a vibe that is unique and i want to experience more things like this <3
even though i'm not the biggest fan of this genre of game, i've been finding myself enjoying hitm3 heavily. the aesthetic backbone is just too intoxicating w/ its clever use of primary colors, its aura-dignifying pop-art interpretation of chile (a game setting that i haven't really seen get explored in a 3D game) distilled in simple 3D graphics, and a lethal eye for composition and framing. the soundtrack is also a highlight, complementing and texturing the comfortingly dissonant visuals perfectly. still, there are still some minor functionality hiccups, the game's script has some typos and grammatical mistakes when playing with the english script, and sometimes the fixed camera angles can obscure you if you stray far enough from the designated angle. it's not particularly anything that would make this game beleaguered among its peers- heck, the game plays into the last of these technical quirks at times- so i was able to easily brush it off. your mileage may vary (as they say) of course but it's worth noting.
Incredible and inspiring artistry; the move to 3D for this series has been pulled off with such confidence you would think they were always like this! Everything from the aesthetic to the use of music and gameplay (there's fixed camera angles! I love it!) makes this such a unique and cool narrative game. Xiri has really outdone himself this time!
HITM3 is an amazing queer game about love, friendship, chosen family, taking care of eachother and living a beautiful life despite precarity and violence. The art is beautiful and its low-poly aesthetic has a lot of character. The music is also really cool and amazing and it fits the story perfectly, and the cutscenes have a music video feel that is also really cool. I love to see the culture represented and the characters are lovely and tender. Play HITM3, you won't regret it <3
(copied over from backloggd) awh wow, what an unbelievably special game. as the credits rolled, all i wanted to do was hug it to my chest, this intangible experience, an urge to somehow say 'yes, i love you, too'. this whole game just exudes the warmth of community, wishing for us all to care for one another through everything (including ourselves) if you haven't read the the two preceding visual novels, HITME and HITME2, i definitely recommend reading them first. i hadn't realized just how dearly i hold their characters until i dove into HITM3. already knowing them gave the game extra depth. these characters (and some aspects of their stories) revisited and newly explored in 3D felt like a smooth transition to the medium. the rough visual style and controls may take getting used to for some folks, and there's a lot of walking, but i personally found it immersive. the main character, nam, is a sweetheart and his character design is especially lovely! i'll spare the details, but i'll never forget the scene where you revisit the opening of HITME, with nam looking for someone to, sort of, help him stay alive. i am also definitely going to pick up the soundtrack. what slick music! plus, HITM3 is queer and polyamorous with a cozy relationship anarchy vibe. it has pretty yet bright colours, and with a screen dimmer i personally had no issues. you also get to feed a kitty. hooray! (: this game is very embodied, pulling you deep into its atmosphere if you are willing to open yourself to its world. it's up to you, of course, but i think you should do it. <3
I very much recommend this series and this game in particular for some surreal vibey gay art with a banger soundtrack. it was a bit repetitive but i enjoyed running around and experiencing everything the little world had to offer. Hope to see more of these fellas in the future
look at this man. he's sad because he has everything he wanted
so. i'm a xiri fan. i've been waiting for the new chapter of hitme for quite some time, and that means i've had some... positive bias, as i loved the first two games. though, as i've just finished the third game, i can't tell if i recommend starting from this one. it'll still be a lovely experience, just more abstract, because hitm3 doesn't focus on its character cast. instead, it feels more like an author's experiment: it stands out in the perspective of the rest of the parts, but not enough to be a completely independent game. so it can be a problem if you're a steam player only and about to buy this game — not just that your experience as a new player will differ, but you'll have to go on itch to read the original visual novel (do it, it's amazing!) hitm3, just like the previous parts, has its own pace, but as it is no longer a visual novel, you would rather get used to A LOT of running on the same maps from one corner to another, or just chill and enjoy completing little quests. basically, 3/4 of the gameplay consists of it, and if it'd annoyed me a little the first half of the game, as soon as i tried to enjoy the process, it actually worked out for me so, what is hitm3? if you ask me, it was like an acid dream: very vivid, romantic and colourful, but at the same time mundane and full of nice tiny details. i esteem not only how the game looks, but also how it sounds — the music references to the first chapters as well, but it has a bunch of new awesome tracks that, you know. HIT me. hehe beside some problems with the game's pace of the narrative, i, to be honest, didn't have enough of dialogues between my favourite characters. although i understand that xiri probably wanted to focus on the visual and story only, but it still felt a bit unusual. not in a bad way tho. it is still a very enjoyable game, but now in a bit more sensory way. beautiful among other things, there is one obvious drawback: you can't pet a dog. at all. your boyfriends can pet it, but not you. i hope xiri will fix it next time, wink. it actually amazes me that such nice games as hitme can be made basically by just one person. otherwise they'd probably lose their specific charm — the author's vision under a minimum of external influence. hitme is definetly one of the projects through which you can get to know the author without ever meeting him
Hiiiiii gracias for making this game it was fun to play ^_^ its cool that so many cool artists were on this project. I think this game had a good vibe to it. I feel like this series should have a visual movie or choice based movie, my favorite parts were the cutscenes. i would totally watch a movie of this i vote based in maipu or cerrillos, add a mote con huesillo stand in palaza maipu. i would love to see more party rave scenes. i really liked the low poly look and colors, liked the bus ride home. I also like all the details to santiago that match the city irl🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 🇨🇱 viva chile. i mean i just wonder how they pay rent selling empanadas? they have a nice apartment. i felt unemployed the whole time.
