HOG-yes. Otherwise, this is awful. Thirty second long black screens between each room/scene, a whole lot of dialogue and cutscenes, battles (really?). Even for a dollar, I couldn't do it.
Very laggy and buggy, unplayable.
It was cheap, and on sale to boot... yet I still feel a little ripped off. The load times are abysmal, absolutely unforgivable for such a low-tech game. And speaking of low-tech, well... it's a shame, because there were tiny bits here and there that hinted at what could have been a halfway decent game. But it isn't.
More stop than go Between every screen, there is a loading time of five to ten seconds. The mouse is very laggy and stutters often. In short: unplayable. System: Win 11, Core i9-13900KF, 64 GB DDR5-6000, RTX 4900 Edit: In the options menu, you can enable a timer: The loading time between every screen can be very weill ten seconds and more.
I really like the idea of this game but it has too many glitches in addition to shutting down completely (twice). Also, the loading of scenes is very slow (I suspect) even for those who have newer PCs than mine. It's as if there was no final run through of this game and to this untrained eye, there seem to be some significant coding issues. My suggestion to the developers is to go over this game with a fine tooth comb, as if you were playing, which would better show you the issues than my listing them, as they are many. All of this said, I will return to this game because I really do like it and because I would like to give it a "thumbs up."
It wasn't that I didn't like the idea for what the game tried to do, but for one thing the puzzles were so very linear. You really couldn't progress without finding the ONE thing to move forward and then had to back pedal to the whichever room you needed to get back to. As to the controls during "ghost battles" they were so wonky at the best to times that it bordered on frustrating and aggravating. It was extremely easy to not hit arrows or lines if you so much as moved a smidgen of an inch in what the game assumed was the wrong direction. And if you failed so much as a key mech at the wrong time, you were then force you to do the whole thing all over again from the start. The voice acting for most of the characters was pretty good except for the main character... he just felt like he was phoning it at times. So much potential could have been saved if they had better beta testers who said, "No, wait, these controls suck."
I don't usually review games, but I felt it necessary with this one. The story and premise of the game is amazing! The developers had some really interesting twists on the typical HOPA game. The game mechanics, however, are very poorly executed. I found a fix for most issues (posted in the discussions), but the fact that I had to do that for a game released in 2019 is a huge flaw. There are long load "black screen" times for such a new game; it's reminiscent of a game made 10 years ago! I'm recommending it because the gameplay is really unique and intriguing, and the story (so far) is pretty interesting. If you have some patience and are willing to grin and bear it, I would say buy this game. If not, then this is not the game for you. I do hope the developers come back and patch or revamp the mechanics, because then this would be a fantastic and unique HOPA game. Until then, buy on sale.
When i got this game to review i was really sceptical about it (mostly because of 20% positive rating) and to be honest its not a bad title for hidden object standards. Of course its very generic in every way possible, but it doesnt mean that its instantly worth that 20%. I've seen way worse HO games than that and tbh for that small price is okay. Lets start with cons becuase there is some of them: -Often Freezes -Rigid Voice Acting -Graphics could be better -Not scary at all Then what is good in this game you may ask. And the point is that in main game everything except hidden object sequences (that are impossible to screw up), movie grain effect and generic but not bad ost is average . BUT. Bonus content. Bonus Content, and thats funny, best thing in this game! Seriously, these minigames can be the main selling point. Especially mahjong that is one of the better ones i've tried So can i recommend this game? Not really, its not the bad title but the problem of this game is lack of polish, but if you can survive that you can enjoy it! EDIT: DEVS REPAIRED MOST OF THE FREEZES AND IM SO THANKFUL FOR THAT <3
I really wanted to like this game. I really, really did. On the surface is has all I want, being a horror themed casual hidden object game but with some interesting twists in the game mechanics that make it a fresh take on the genre. Yet it's pretty near unplayable at times. A good chunk of that unplayability is just how slow this game is. 10 to 30 second black screen load times between each room is just not a pain most people are willing to subject themselves to. But even if that bug would somehow been eliminated from the game it still has some speed issues, of being too fast and unforgiving that is. I have not found myself clicking the Skip button as routinely as I did with this game bc some of the minigames just felt impossible to pass on my own. And maybe they aren't but who knows because what this game also lacks is proper tutorials and guidance. It tells you that you need to achieve this and that in order to win a game but omits the actual how-to almost entirely. In multiple occasions you are told you have limited time to solve the puzzle, but no counter, just an ominous ball of lightning closing in and ZAP, you're back to where you started in a multi-level puzzle. And this is where I finally gave up on this game, on a ZAP, you're back to where you started on a multi-level puzzle, the puzzle being the apparent last boss fight. You have health that regenerates with time but if you are in any ways confused or late at the beginning of a fight (maybe bc of a lagging game with long load times) you will lose all of it in one go, resulting in any boss fight becoming one mistake will send you all the way to the beginning in a sucks to be you kinda affair. Yet I can't say that I don't want to see this type of game again. I enjoyed the limited action aspect tho I felt it would have better suited a touch screen rather than mouse. It's just this particular game that I cannot recommend.
Absolutely Unplayable. The game starts off extremely laggy, difficult to click on things because you move the mouse and two seconds later it follows your movement. But that's fine, I can handle a bit of lag. However, as soon as I got to the first ghost battle I couldn't progress any further - and I started on the normal mode instead of advanced because this was a hidden objects series I wasn't familiar with! The first instruction you get about it being 'timed' and if you click at the right time it goes green is all well and good, but I tried numerous different timings and only twice I was able to get a green click. Occasionally the marker would flicker green but then it would go red and I would be penalised for missing it. Very disappointing since the game itself looks well-made and I was hoping for several playthroughs. I'm a big fan of hidden object games but I won't be buying any more from this developer. In fact, I created an entirely new tag for this game. Usually I file things in 'File' for games I've played but don't see myself playing again, and 'Completed' for games I have done most or all of the achievements for and/or completed to the end. I've created a tag just called 'BAD' entirely for this game, because I don't want to come back to my library in a few years and think 'hey I didn't play this much, I wonder why I filed it' and then go 'Oh OH THIS GAME.' Saving future!me some energy remembering how dreadful this game it.
