Game is better than expected. Graphics are pretty solid, in line with some of the newer games like Soulmask and such. Combat is pretty smooth. Great medieval vibe so far

There's still some rough patches to iron out, and the art direction is unfortunately full on asset pack, generic game you see someone playing on a low-budget movie level bland, but even at this point as an Early Access title, there's also a lot to enjoy here, as my playtime attests. Give it a shot for some pretty decent action-RPG questing. I'd recommend a magic-focused build, as that's what seems to work the best by far in my experience.
Heroic Kingdom Origins is really a gem to play. It's still in early access but there's a lot to do in it folks. You can create characters with different builds and classes. There are several talent trees and a variety of weapons. I've barely scratched the surface with just 2 characters with different builds. The devs are super responsive and are actively patching and updating the game. Just the other day I contacted them in Discord and mentioned a problem with undead rouge summon not attacking my target as it should and within 2 days it was fixed. It is still in early access and there are still some things to work out, but it's totally worth your time and money! if you enjoy an MMO style game without all the MMO BS then pick up HKO.
This game needs a lot more work. I mean alot of work. I cant recommend this game as it stands now, wait for six months to a year before purchasing. I do however like the game it has merit so i'll wait till it is fully released. At the moment NO!
I'm sorry, but this is some of the worst indie jank I have ever come across on Steam. The entire experience feels incredibly cheap and highly janky, as if this small development team was perhaps a little overly ambitious. One of the main issues I had with this game is that the shadowing is not properly implemented. No matter what I selected in the graphic options, shadows are WAY too dark and often completely blacken buildings and enemies. Nighttime is even worse, when the entire screen turns black with only a torch to light your way. There is also no direction how to make daylight appear again. In fact, there's no direction for anything. You just run around trying to find quests. Optimization is also not very good because I experienced constant frame rate drops in 4k resolution with an RTX4080 no matter what I selected in the graphic options. You also cannot adjust graphic options or the controls unless you quit playing and return to the main menu. Combat also feels incredibly janky and the sword feels like you are swishing through the air instead of impacting the enemy. Enemies are also spongy taking too many attacks to bring down. You are also constantly being shot with spell projectiles and constantly being defeated by ordinary bandits. There is also no "easy" difficulty setting. There is also no voice acting and the world feels lifeless and dull. There is also no FOV setting and your character seems too far away. Another issue is that control names appear right over items in the world that you are interacting with. So, if you remap for instance the right mouse to interact, you will see "right mouse button" text overlapping the name of the item that you want to interact with. Other issues include NPCs just standing around waiting for you to approach them for quests, deer just standing around and letting you kill them without moving, your character freezing up during combat, a boring text-based inventory screen, and lots of texture clipping. This game also takes up over 50GB of hard drive space for some reason. Overall, this is an incredibly cheap indie experience that is best avoided in my opinion and needs a TON of work. I would stay away from this one. I would much rather play Elder Scrolls Skyrim.
I've been looking for this type of game for SO long. A game where I can solo level a character and choose exactly how I want to build him as I progress with no limitations on my build, basically be like Sung Jin Woo. A game with an MMO style without being an MMO. A game with awesome action RPG gameplay. This game gives me ALL of those and I'm loving it! Please support these devs! They have made such an amazing hidden gem, they are very responsive on their Discord, and their game is worth much more than what they charge!
two years Early Access and no updates since November = No Recommendation
Mixed Review, my only real issue is the combat styles, specifically switching between them in combat really slows things down and feels bulky. What I'd like to see is the option to have melee & magic abilities able to be used together more seamlessly. If the combat styles weren't a feature this would be a thumbs up, and it's still a work in progress and getting better so I'm hoping the combat gets better too. Dev is responsive and cares about the game though, so I have faith it'll keep improving.
